Kids Backpacks - Classic Backpack

Kids normally need backpacks to act as storage for books as they go to school or for other purposes such as hiking and so on. As a parent, your role is to make sure that you select the right backpack according to the age and the need of your child. Mistakes made during the selection process could easily lead to your little one having backache issues and several other problems. Here, are some two tips that can help you in shopping for kids backpacks.

One: consider the size of the backpack It is important to note that backpack injuries, especially for school purposes have been classified as the number one cause for trips to the dispensary. In order to avoid having your kid head to the ER due to some backache problem, make sure that you buy a bag that can only hold up to 15 % of the child's weight. When you buy a bigger backpack that can carry more, you are putting your child at a risk of carrying more than they should and the result will inevitably be back injuries.

Two: the style or design of the backpack Another thing that you should be very careful is the way in which the backpack is designed. Kids Backpacks should have two adjustable straps. Bags that have one strap or what are called messenger style bags should be avoided. Remember that school backpacks have to be carried to and from school every day. This means that if they are not appropriate, you could be affecting the health of your child in a negative way. After you have selected the kids backpacks that meet the two specifications mentioned above, the next step is making sure that the bag is worn correctly.

A good classic backpack will still cause pain if it is worn incorrectly. To make sure that carrying a school backpack does not lead to back aches and similar problems, make sure that you help the kids carry their bags every morning. Flinging the bag over the shoulder should be avoided at all costs. Secondly, make sure that the straps fit. When they are too short, the bag will go over the little kid's collar line causing discomfort and soreness of the back. The backpack should also not hang more than four inches below the belt line. When selecting designs; go for kid's backpacks that have very wide and well-cushioned straps such that the weight will be distributed evenly on the shoulders.

A waist strap in addition to the normal two shoulder straps is a welcome addition as it provides stability to the bag preventing the bag from flopping around as the child carries it. Basically, those are some of the most important factors you should have in mind when selecting kids gear and especially backpacks. Remember that a little carelessness when doing the selection can easily land you in the emergency room. If you notice signs such as shoulder pains, sore red marks on the shoulders and back and trouble getting the backpack on or off, then it is time to look for a more suitable classic backpack for your young one.
