Welcome Our mission is to shine some light on the people working at the Kelowna & West Kelowna ReStores, the HFHO Affiliate office, and the huge team of volunteers in all areas. Through shared stories, photos, profiles, and memories, we hope to add some colour and shade to the people we work beside. We will also continue to feature updates on HFHO projects, ReStore news, upcoming events, and more.

If you have stories, photos, news, or an event that you would like to share, please feel free to contact : Rose (rose.jorgensen@hfhokanagan.ca)

Paul Dique Kelowna ReStore Volunteer Paul recently underwent knee surgery and is greatly welcomed back to the Kelowna store. Where do you find inspiration Paul? Terry Fox and Wayne Gretzky and an internal drive of not necessarily knowing where I want to go, but knowing where I do not want to end up. Tell us of some places you’ve visited... Three songs / musicians / albums that you love? Most Southern American blues musicians from the 40's, 50's & 60's - Alan Parsons, John Mayall, the Allman Brothers, and Joe Bonamassa too. Tell us about your hobbies.. Golfing, attending blues concerts, travel and volunteering at the ReStore. Favourite childhood toy, game, or activity? Riding my bike, and building with meccano. How do you like to relax and re-charge? Sitting in the sun, reading and having a nap.

Most interesting or miserable job you've had? Working at a steel fabricating factory, a dirty, hot, sweaty and draining job that reinforced the importance of staying in school. What would be the title of a movie about you? "Takin' care of business" with the subtitle "livin' the dream". Favourite comfort food? Steak (medium rare), baked potato, caesar salad or insalata mista pasta, with a glass of a nice, dry red wine. Greatest achievement so far and why? My two sons.

Lake Country build

HFHO is getting strong support from the District of Lake Country for the Powley Court build. A recent council meeting gave approval for the waiving of several fees which will lessen the cost to build the proposed multi-unit project. We will be hosting a public information meeting in Lake Country hopefully before the end of the year.

CHBA Event

HFHO hosted the Canadian Home Builders Association after hours at the Kelowna ReStore on October 12th. The turnout of over 75 people was one of the bigger groups this year to attend the regular event. Lots of great networking.

New York Trip

Sarah and Lorraine recently travelled to New York to attend the Synergy Global Forum “ A Master Class in Disruption. People from across the world assembled to listen to 14 global icons including: Richard Branson, Steve Forbes, Malcolm Gladwell and more. Sarah received free tickets for she and Lorraine, and they were the only non-profit represented.
