PROJECT COLLINS.
Brief Whilst working at Poggenpohl I have worked on many projects and one that stands out from the crowd is this Project - Collins. Situated in Essex this listed manor house had some challenges and limits but created a stunning kitchen. Some of the design challenges we faces where the design limits, due to planning we weren’t aloud to block windows with kitchen units. This aloud us to create a stunning floating sink over-hang which has made a beautiful feature. Another design challenge was designing a kitchen with a clients colour scheme and preferences that needed to pair with the features within the building.
Design Development.
These above images show some of the areas for the design process, even with a layout confirmed one of the main features that changes is the colour scheme. The first image shows the plans created for the area. Selecting the correct materials for this size of a kitchen in such a historical building was a hard decision however, the colours and design that was finalized was a mixture of modern and classical colours. The last image shows a draft render created to show the client the final colour scheme that we proposed which did end up being the finalized colour scheme.
Material Exploration.
These above images show some more professional photographs of the final completed kitchen. What makes this kitchen look so luxurious is the colour scheme of Champagne Aluminium and Sand Grey which are all Poggenpohl House finishes.
Collins.
This kitchen was nominated for the SBID International Design Awards 2023.
SHOWROOM RENOVATION.
Brief
Poggenpohl Hampstead in 2021 had an unfortunate fire however, this meant that as a studio we where able to re design our entire studio area. This included 7 full kitchens, 1 functioning bar, 1 VIP presentation area and a office for 4 people. Designing on-site and watching the process up close and personal was an exceptional learning curve. Not only was the designing a learning curve but on site management as well as managing time schedules for builds, installations and deliveries. Having the fire was a hard time it meant a lot of learning not only as a designer but as a person.
Design Development.
This plan was one of many created for the showroom renovation, what was interesting about these plans was the freedom of placing and creating the design. Not having restrictions was fun and aloud us to be as creative as we wanted. However working to no briefs was difficult at first which is why one of our first decisions to make was to section and specify as a team what we wanted our spaces to achieve. This space was to showcase our +MoDo design concept island to a bold and lively scheme.
Details.
These images show little design choices made that elevated our showroom from others around London. The addition of simple design choices like, pop - up sockets, a full pantry and champagne trough has helped add the luxury needed for Poggenpohls Brand image.
Showroom.
These above images shows some professional images taken after the opening of our showroom after the fire. The new design areas and combination of materials has brought back the demand within the showroom. The showroom has been selected as a finalist in “Retail Showroom of the Year” 2023.
SAMPLE TABLE.
Brief To design a storage unit for the VIP room in the company, to design it to hold samples that the Silverlining create. The storage unit must be able to hold more then 30 samples and be a working desk as well as a storage unit. The design must have the samples as the main focus and adding features to keep them safe and protect them when not in use. The unit must be presentable and neat as the VIP room is used in meeting with potential clients and guests.
Sketches.
These sketches are the first initial design ideas that where produced for the brief.
Design Process.
These design renders are of the design that where produced but decided not to move forward with. The material for these designs is Oxidised Oak as it was a request from the company.
These designs where more focused on making the unit a working desk, with space for stools. However, it was decided that the space for stools was a waste and the bigger focus should be on the number of samples that can be stored.
Final Design.
This is the final render and layout explaining all the view points as well as materials.
MATERIAL EXPLORATION.
Brief To design example material and pattern samples for the companies Monico show to introduce the company to new potential clients. The samples should be new and inventive including any materials and techniques that the company can produce. The best samples among the team will be chosen and developed with the other designers to make the final produced design and sample for the show.
Coral Design.
These images shows the sketch into photoshop renders with the material swatches. This design was inspired by flowers and micro organisms it was also inspired by the companies new technique of leather bubbles which started this inspiration.
Shegreen Design. These images also show another sample design inspired by the largest waste material cultivated within the company. Stingray Skin is the most popular and wasted material used, with shegreen, the needed section of the material is small and therefore large parts are wasted. This pattern was created to use those scrap parts but adding other valuable materials to make the pattern valuable again.
Bubbles Design. These images also show another pattern sample designed

HARMONY.
Brief: - UNIVERSITY WORK Covid- 19 has brought many hard ships into our lives. One of the biggest changes is the transition to working from home. With space as the main issue the brief is to design a new furniture solution to help with those that don’t have a dedicated home office space. Defined Brief: Design a chair and desk solution revolving around the concept of space, also using colour theory to enhance a positive produced whilst working at the desk.
Home Balance.
Working from home can be hard without a dedicated space. In order to understand the key issues of working from home case studies where conducted to enlighten the truth. Harmony was created on the premise of saving space within our home. Only being 1 metre long the design combines both the chair and desk to keep a tight compact shape.
Case Study Images.
Values.
Along with the design being multifunctional the design also comes in a simple flat pack form. This is due to a large portion of those who struggle for space are situated within flats in cities. Flat buildings can be difficult to manoeuvre furniture around therefore, the desk and chair components break down into simple forms.
Harmony is a multifunctional piece with its primary function as an office space and secondary function as a seat with a side table.
Values. With the choice of working from home taken from us it was important to have a choice of colour. Therefore the design comes in a range of colours from the linoleum desk top to the chenille fabric chair.
Chenille
Tulip wood
Plywood
Linoleum
With the addition of contrasting colours and soft curves running throughout the design this portrays a softer and more positive feeling. With the choice from a range of colours and fabrics this gives back a sense of control to the buyer. Having control of the colour combination is very important as each house will have an individual style and colour scheme of its own.
Final Renders.
These images show the range of colours which Harmony could come in, the range offers a variation in the linoleum colour and also the upholstery fabric.
Full Scale Model.
These images show the final 1-2-1 prototype from putting the design together in its flat pack form and the final design in use. The images also show the branding stitched into the drawer handle.
DIANTHUS.
Brief. - UNIVERSITY WORK Design a piece of furniture, that is sympathetic to the provenance of marquetry as a technique, but also on how it is being brought into the 21st century using advances in technology and new materials. -Brief given by Silverlining Design Team.
Defined Brief: Design a fitting piece of furniture for a hallway environment that portrays wealth. This pieces of furniture should evolve around a marquetry pattern styled by both traditional and modern marquetry influences.
Influence. Silverlining Mood Board. Silverlining- A bespoke furniture company that specialise in many areas, one of the many areas is Marquetry. These images are an example of some of their marquetry work.
These images show from inspiration to creation. Working at Silverlining was the main source of inspiration as to why I choose Marquetry as a technique to practice.
What I took to the most was designing my own patterns and colour schemes, which is not Marquetry process.
Simple Mood board.
normally done in simple furniture.
Sketches.
These sketches are some additional designs and design developments created within the project. With these furniture concepts they also have the marquetry patterns added to the design to give a sense of scale.

Development.
Natural Photoshop.
These images show pattern designs from sketches to creation. With Sketching patterns its hard to imaging what the designs will look like when created which is why Photoshop is essential. Using real veneer images realistic versions of the sketches can be created as well as adding

Wood Veneer.
colour to the design can create new and exiting varieties of the sketch.
Auto CAD.
With a large scale pattern the design was created in its full 1-2-1 scale. This allowed the pattern to be detailed and also allowed some of the design to be created in a 1-2-1 scale to show what it would look like. This AutoCad design is the pattern created for the two front doors of the cabinet.
Models.
In order to get a sense of scale a single full sized door was created as well as a smaller scale model to show the scale of the cabinet.
