PARK CLUB’S COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PRIORITY AREAS

"HELPING YOU GET FITTER, HEALTHIER AND HAPPIER"

Community Development Objectives To increase regular and sustainable participation in sport and physical activity for our ‘inactive’ target groups. To plan new-targeted initiatives for our ‘inactive’ target groups that remove barriers and help make physical activity accessible. To continue to collaborate with like‐minded organisations to develop our community work and reach local residents in need. To improve awareness of the Park Club 'Health' brand using success stories and a regular communication plan. To continue to work as a Community team to deliver on the priority areas outlined.

Active Health • Provision of an inclusive Exercise Referral scheme, delivering the expertise and motivation for adults with a range of health conditions to be physically active. • Delivering initiatives for adults experiencing mental health difficulties to be more active, to improve their physical and mental wellbeing. • Providing additional services for health improvement that are condition specific, e.g. weight management, diabetes prevention, cardiac rehabilitation, physical and learning disabilities. • To continue to upskill staff to deliver sessions for specific health conditions, while developing our health improvement services offer.

Active Concessionary • To grow our Active Concessionary pass usage, providing access to physical activity for local residents receiving means tested benefits. • To develop partnerships to provide exercise sessions for disadvantaged adults, e.g. Homelessness, low income and alcohol/substance abuse. Providing the opportunities and motivation to use physical activity as a tool to change their lives. • To develop initiatives for young people from low-income families to take part in physical activity, supporting them to build the exercise habit and continue to be active into adulthood. • Supporting adults & young people not in education, employment or training to make lifestyle changes, including developing partnerships for offenders to rehabilitate in our communities.

Active Forever • Provision of targeted opportunities for older people to regularly take part in physical activity and age well. • To develop our initiatives for older people with long-term health conditions to remain active, e.g. Dementia friendly initiative, falls prevention. • To use physical activity to combat social isolation and loneliness. • To continue and grow our provision of sports sessions for older people.

Active Teen • To deliver positive experiences for young people taking part in physical activity, to encourage future sustainability for a healthy lifestyle. • To use physical activity as a tool to overcome mental health and obesity issues in children. • To plan and deliver new sessions for young people to take part in exercise, • To provide opportunities for disadvantaged young people to get into education, employment or training. • To increase our engagement with local schools to promote the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle.

Active Corporates • To promote and encourage a physically active lifestyle for sedentary employees. • Provision of health assessment services for employees awareness of health and to make plans for improvements where required. • To grow our Corporate Wellbeing Programme, with the inclusion of additional services, e.g. Cholesterol testing, mental health. • To plan and deliver quarterly wellbeing events for our corporates, encouraging and promoting physical activity, healthy diet and healthy weight.
