COLD WATER THERAPY

At Banks O’Dee Sports Club, we’re dedicated to enhancing your experience. Excitingly, we’re introducing cold water therapy to complement our existing sauna facilities.

BENEFITS:

We’ve submitted plans for approval, which include constructing a new cold water plunge pool and refurbishing the men’s shower area.

Anticipation is high, and we aim to begin these improvements in the coming months.

SET UP FOR THE AIR SQUAT

Set heels just outside of your hips and have your toes pointing out slightly

Start with hips and knees at full extension POINTS OF PERFORMANCE FOR THE AIR SQUAT

Send the hips back and down descending to the bottom of your squat with the crease of the hip below the knees.

Keep the knees tracking out over the toes

Maintain balance of weight in the heels

Keep the arch in the lower back by lifting the chest for a good lumbar curve in the spine

When hip crease breaks the plane of the knees in depth, drive through the heels to ascend back to your starting position

The rep is completed when the knees and hips are fully locked out and open

DUMBBELL RENEGADE ROW INSTRUCTIONS

1. Engage your core and glutes to keep your body in a straight line from head to heels. 2.

Start in a high plank position with your hands gripping a pair of dumbbells directly under your shoulders.

Row one dumbbell up towards your chest, keeping your elbow close to your body. 3.

Lower the dumbbell back down to the ground and repeat on the other side. 4. Continue alternating sides for the desired number of reps. 5.

My fitness journey started when I moved to Aberdeen to study sport science at RGU After joining BOD two years ago, I discovered my love for fitness by going to class such as spin and getting more involved with weight training Since then, I’ve completed my degree and earned a level 2 gym instructor qualification I’m all about helping others smash their fitness goals while also working on my own progress both in and out of the gym I'm excited to keep learning, earn more fitness qualifications, and start teaching classes to spread my enthusiasm and passion!

From a very young age sports has always been a big part of my life I have been a figure skater for over 10 years with competitive experience and through this I have learned the importance of physical activity and motivational encouragement from others In the 2 years I have been a leisure attendant at Banks O’ Dee I have gotten to know many members better and understand why they attend the gym Very recently I have also become a fitness instructor at the facility with my goals being to encourage others to see the positive benefits of exercise as well as helping to assist them along the way I have also gained knowledge to support this through my sports science degree at RGU where I am currently in second year I hope to continue to share the clubs aspirations with others and help them in their individual fitness journeys

Banks O Dee has been my place of work for over a year now, where I have developed great bonds with understanding our clientele I have a good understanding of how busy lives can get, alongside the importance of making time for yourself to set fitness goals Whether you’re an early bird, or evening person for working out, let me help you with your fitness journey from class suggestions and creating a programme tailored to your goals My favourite classes include Flex and Tone as a good way to relax and understand the body, as well as boxing where you get to push yourself hard Recently passing my Level 2 fitness instructor qualification, I am eager to start helping as many people as I can, even if it is just as a friendly face at reception

With a strong boxing background, I have a good understanding of what it means to stay consistent with training to see positive results I have recently passed my Level 2 fitness instructor, so am keen to develop my learning and understanding along with the members and clients I have worked at Banks O’ Dee for just over a year now, where I have created strong relationships with clients as well as taking part in a wide range of classes My further personal experience from my own personal trainers and instructors has shaped me to create clear goals and understand that progress is not an overnight process, it instead takes time and dedication Hope to see you in the gym soon to help create a programme and support you through your fitness journey

What are they?

6-Week Personalised Fitness Programmes

Who are they for?

Perfect for anyone who wants to lose fat, improve cardio and increase muscle and gain core strength

Each member is entitled to 3 programmes, including a stretching programme.

Fitness test completed on a treadmill or bike prior the start of the programme

The mywellness® App by Technogym is free to download from the App Store or Google Play, that allows you to book classes and track your workouts, storing your data into your personal Mywellness cloud

Scan the QR code below with your phone to download the App for your device Once downloaded, create your account!

Add in your weight, height and personal details to get started Link to Banks O’ Dee Fitness using code 'banksodee'

Add your card number onto your digital card, to scan into the facilities using your phone

You can then use this App to track body composition, book classes, track workouts and book instructor led inductions.

Benefits of the app

Record and track your workouts to review progress and reach your goals more quickly. Scan the QR code on most Technogym cardio equipment and it will track your workout automatically

View video tutorials on how to perform exercises correctly with proper form, suitable reps, weights, and notes from your wellness coach

Keep track of all your body measurements using the TANITA scales (which are found on the gym floor, and measure body fat, hydrations levels, lean muscle mass etc)
