AQUILA’S 47 MOLOKAI EXTENDS OFFSHORE SERIES

The four-engine 47 Molokai fishing boat has just premiered at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in late October. Aquila released more details of its high-speed 47 Molokai fishing boat ahead of the model’s world premiere.

Only a handful of images have been released, but CGIs and deck plans of the four engine ‘Big Kahuna’ show two pairs of twin 600hp Mercury V12 outboards, while Aquila expects a top speed of over 50 knots. Part of the builder’s Offshore series pioneered by the 28 Molokai, the 47 Molokai has an overall length of 15.06m, featuring a 13.94m double-stepped hull with a beam of 4.44m. As well as a 10.35-tonne dry weight, the boat has a draught of just 0.66m with the engines up and 1.11m with them down.

Carbon-fibre has been used in the forward and aft structural bulkheads, as well as in the optional hard top, which can even fit an upper helm station and fishing chair with a smaller hard top above. There are rod holders in the hard top, along both bulwarks, and the fore and aft ends. The yacht starts aft with a flexible cockpit with bulwark doors on both sides and fold-down bench seats aft. The central cockpit can fit a table or fishing chair, while the forward area can include aft-facing seats, fishing wells and prep station, or an outdoor galley. The midships area that can be covered by a hard top includes rows of four and three seats, with the forward trio including a central pilot chair. Accessed by both side decks, the foredeck features three fitted sunpads, each covering large ‘coffin boxes’ for storage. The cabin can be accessed by either of two sliding doors, located starboard of the console and on the port side deck. The cabin has an aft-facing queen bed, head with shower, hull windows on both sides, skylights and lithium-ion air-conditioning.
