The seven wonders of eGrocery packaging The COVID-19 pandemic has propelled the desire for convenience as consumer lives and workplaces have shifted towards being at home. One significant result is the booming trade in eGrocery – one of the fastest growing online shopping segments during this period. Demand is high as consumers manage busy schedules, but how are eGrocery supply chains ensuring fast, effective, and safe delivery of consumable goods? It’s challenging, but Mondi found the solution. Customisation is now essential to minimise suppliers’ operating costs and guarantee that the groceries arrive fresh and undamaged.
Corrugated packaging to address the entire eGrocery supply portfolio Mondi’s range of corrugated packaging addresses the multiple functional needs for different modes of transportation and shopping basket compositions in eGrocery. This includes everything from local home deliveries to nationwide shipping, as well as specific supply models like click & collects and parcel lockers. For its portfolio of products for the eGrocery segment, Mondi created clever designs answering the needs for packing, transportation and unboxing. Various bottom and closure options, alongside optional inserts to separate foods, pair with innovative carrying solutions for fast shipping and easy end-user handling. The issue of temperature-sensitive food is addressed with the fully recyclable, insulated solution of the BCoolBox. Overall, the products are more efficient, convenient and sustainable alternatives to the food packing solution currently on the market.

The most frequently ordered packaging for eGrocery demand Seven box solutions have proven the most popular during this time of increased orders of fresh goods.
01 Pick&ShipBox The Pick&ShipBox is a universal, one-box solution for all eGrocery supply chain needs. It’s easy to fold, quick to build, automatic bottom and foldable handles adapts to multiple requirements whilst retaining good protection. It’s the most versatile box from the range.
02 PantryBox Ready for filling simply by pulling up the box and tucking down the bottom reinforcement, the PantryBox is made for fast store-to-pantry delivery. No additional materials or steps are needed to close the box, and it comes with an optional handle and locking system option.
03 RecipeBox Perfect for doorstep delivery of subscription boxes with a small vehicle fleet, RecipeBox is a supremely convenient solution. A flat cut and easily assembled pack with a typical fill volume of 33 and 72 litres, the integrated lid keeps it sturdy and ideal for stacking, and optional holes for aeration keep produce fresh.
04 EatsBox The EatsBox is a pull-up design for carrying smaller meals and grocery orders on delivery bikes and scooters. No preassembly of the box is needed because it has a pull-up design for quick fill – the fastest way to get your shipment ready. The flat bottom, easy closing and lightweight boards are ideal for bike delivery where stacking isn’t standard.

05 Click&LoadBox The Click&LoadBox supports in-store click & collect efficiency with its easy-fold automatic bottom, good accessibility for filling, and stackability despite the open top. The absence of a lid helps with longer items and reduces material usage. Hand holes allow convenient loading into cars for carrying groceries home.
06 Click&EnjoyBox The Click&EnjoyBox is designed for gift or seasonal promotion packs, accommodating even heavy orders while remaining convenient to carry home from a store on foot. The unique one-piece design offers compartments for mixed shipments, such as bottles, ensuring safe separation from other sensitive products in the basket.
07 Click&CarryBox The Click&CarryBox is the heavy lifter. While easy to assemble, ideal for stacking, the box benefits from high strength and stability for heavier orders. Consumers benefit when carrying bottles or sensitive items that could be damaged if packed together with other goods in regular paper grocery bags.
As shopping increases, so does our focus on sustainability When designing products, Mondi always seeks to contribute to a better world. As the demand for online shopping grows, so does the need for functional packaging to protect and transport it, which we support with recycling and lightweight packaged goods. When designing new packaging solutions, our designers always strive to use paper where possible, plastic when useful. Together, we can keep the eGrocery supply chain as green as possible.
