Seven Seas Grandeur
REGENT SEVEN SEAS CRUISES
Following a steel-cutting ceremony at Fincantieri in November, Regent Seven Seas Cruises has begun construction on the newest addition to its fleet.
With a gross tonnage of 55,500, Seven Seas Grandeur – the sister ship to Explorer and Splendor – will accommodate 750 guests and provide amongst the highest space ratios and staff-to-guest ratios in the industry.
Miami-based firm Studio Dado, which is well-versed in boutique cruising and hospitality interior design, has been appointed to reimagine the distinct level of opulence found on board the wider fleet. Inspired by the brand’s 30-year legacy of luxury travel, the interiors illustrate how the partnership has taken contemporary cruising to new heights, from all-suite, allbalcony accommodations to transformative dining experiences.
“A canvas such as Seven Seas Grandeur is a designer’s dream,” reveals Yohandel Ruiz, Founding Partner of Studio Dado. “The level of luxury needed required us to consider and perfect every single detail that the discerning Regent guest will experience. Not only is the functionality of each individual space of the highest importance, whether it’s indulging in a gourmet meal or reclining on a plush mattress for a restorative sleep following a day of exploring, but the finest of materials must work in perfect harmony too, from textures to colour tones. It’s a challenge to relish.”
Seven Seas Grandeur’s evolution of luxury begins with an impressive accommodation lineup comprising 15 suite categories. The entrylevel Veranda and Deluxe Veranda Suites boast up to 361ft2 of space and are amongst the most generous in their class, while the collection of Distinctive Suites includes the contemporary yet timeless Master Suite, and the well-appointed Seven Seas Suite, with a spacious bedroom, living room and 237ft2 balcony.
The most exclusive accommodation is the US$11,000-a-night Regent Suite, which overlooks the bow of the ship and spans an impressive 4,443ft2. Spaces include twobedrooms, a living room with personalised bar set-up, a dining room and sky-lit glassenclosed parlour, all of which have been treated as a piece of art and feature the highest quality textiles as well as hand-selected furnishings.
In the public spaces, Studio Dado has conceived a new design for the cruise line’s signature specialty restaurant, Compass Rose. The experience begins outside the venue with a cascading waterfall sculpture fashioned from laser-cut metal and handblown glass. Inside, diners are greeted by a canopy of interwoven crystal and wood-edge illuminated trees that arch overhead giving the impression of an enchanted forest. As dusk falls, thousands of individually placed crystal leaves encrusted on pillars are illuminated from floor to ceiling, and adding to the atmospheric ambiance, a customdesigned mural by Confluent Studios crafted with gold-leaf and Verre Eglomisé depicts the flora and fauna at the forest’s edge.
“Restaurants on board all Regent ships are exquisite, but for Seven Seas Grandeur’s Compass Rose we wanted to create a space that was truly a feast for the eyes,” explains Ruiz. “This new design will pique guests’ curiosity and sense of wonder before they have even set foot in the restaurant, and go on to delight with a sumptuous, personalised meal in dramatic and beautiful surroundings.”
Further details have also been revealed for French restaurant Chartreuse, which tells the story of nostalgic design inspirations from 1925 Paris and the Art Deco movement to the romance of turn-of-the-century New York.
