Ocean Residences Development has announced further details of the interior design concept for M/Y Njord, a luxury superyacht featuring 118 private residences. Upon debuting in 2025, the 293-metre vessel will mark a new style of residence at sea, in which the facilities are on par with those of a cruise ship or lifestyle resort.

While FM Architettura and Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston had previously been appointed, as reported in issue 5 of Starboard, Kelly Hoppen, 1508 London, Linley, Pinto, Sabrina MonteCarlo, Jenan Interior Design and Studio Becker now complete a stellar line-up of creatives that will partner with Chief Designer Jean-Louis Stutzmann and naval architect Espen Øino to craft every detail on board.

Handpicked by Ocean Residences, the studios were briefed to develop concepts for the penthouses and residential apartments. In their schemes, Kelly Hoppen will paying homage to the form, function and craftsmanship of the ship, while 1508 London marries a marineinspired colour palette with timber detailing and an abstract lighting installation.

Linley meanwhile takes inspiration from the Art Deco era to dream up a design that evokes the elegance of naval architecture from the 1930s; Pinto will channel what it calls ‘the art of living’; and Sabrina Monte-Carlo applies a contemporary Mediterranean aesthetic to the marina deck overlooking the water.

Rounding out the offer, Jenan Interior Design will focus on romance and elegance through a more traditional scheme encompassing precious materials, decorative finishes and glass chandeliers, while Studio Becker is set to take a forward-thinking approach that translates to contemporary kitchens fusing stone, bespoke furniture and sleek millwork. Circumnavigating the globe, the superyacht will be home to a community who share a passion for exploration, voyage and research.
