A-Rosa Cruises has released renderings of the cabins aboard its new river vessel, set to make its maiden voyage on the Rhine this Summer.

Brought to life by Peter Joehnk and Corinna Kretschmar-Joehnk of Joi-Design – a Hamburgbased interiors studio that has transferred its experience in the hotel sector to the cruise market – the ship comprises 140 cabins, many of which are divided into sleeping and lounge areas and feature balconies for river views.

The vessel has been designed with multigenerational travel in mind, so Deck 1 is a designated family zone with a kids’ club, climbing wall and arts-and-crafts corner. This approach extends to the accommodation too, with 12 family cabins that sleep up to five people. Measuring 28ft2, they feature a large double bed, bunk beds with portholes, a sofa bed and play area. “We developed a fresh, youthful concept with a natural look that functions well for families,” say Joi-Design. “Staterooms are still ship cabins and smaller than hotel rooms, so we used light colours and open bathrooms. The vessel will feel more spacious and, at the same time, more intimate with individual areas such as a winter garden and casual restaurant that could work just as well on land.”

Rounding out the amenities is the brand’s signature Spa-Rosa, featuring a sauna, whirlpool and ice grotto, as well as a heat bench, relaxation and treatment rooms, and a gym.

And to help protect the river for generations to come, the ship’s E-motion technology will see it switch to battery power when entering and leaving port. “We know how important it is to look after the areas we sail through, and A-Rosa Sena’s innovative hybrid propulsion system will play a part in this,” says Lucia Rowe, Managing Director for the UK & Ireland at A-Rosa River Cruises. “Her arrivals and departures are silent and emission free, keeping our journeys cleaner and greener.”
