Elevate
Elevating the Passenger Experience
Teague leverages Nordam technology to create a ‘floating bed’ in the sky.
With single-aisle aircrafts increasingly being used for long-haul flights, Teague – a design and innovation agency for the transport sector – has created Elevate, a new cabin concept that uses ‘floating’ furniture to reimagine the in-flight experience. Making use of Nordam’s patent-pending Nbrace technology, the proposal offers more personal space, privacy and comfort, without compromising the aircraft’s existing passenger numbers.
The concept is designed specifically for the constrained architecture of a narrowbody cabin, and sees furniture installed via sidewall attachment points rather than the traditional floor-mounted tracks, so that it appears to float. The result is a lighter and more efficient suite environment, which increases the bed size, living space and stowage capacity for every passenger. For business-class passengers, Teague has added customised lighting and full-height slatted screens with a reverse herringbone layout to create a premium level of privacy.
“At a time when passenger wellbeing and sustainability are industry priorities, Elevate heralds a new generation of beautiful, simplified cabin products that will enable airlines to deliver exceptional experiences for their passengers with the economic efficiency that these smaller aircraft were designed to deliver,” explains Anthony Harcup, Senior Director of Airline Experience at Teague.
Nordam, a global leader in advanced aerospace engineering, intends to supply Nbrace to airlines and aviation companies worldwide to spur further innovation within the cabin. “This is a next-generation innovation that enables more creative freedom for the aircraft interior design community,” comments Nordam CEO Meredith Siegfried Madden. “By revolutionising how seats and other monuments attach to an aircraft, Nbrace recruits previously wasted space, transforming it into new aesthetic possibilities and dramatically improved passenger comfort, space and privacy.”
