5 Best U.S. Fall Getaways The crisp air of autumn and bright colors are enough to inspire anyone to embrace the outdoors. While your playtime at the beach may now be limited, the cooler weather has some advantages of its own. Hiking and road trips are the perfect things to do during the weather change. You’re not solely limited to outdoor activities, however, many U.S. cities offer a range of activities that compliment the fall. Here are 5 of the best U.S. fall getaways. New York City New York City is ridiculously cool and packed with energy. It’s a hip cosmopolitan filled with scores of culturally diverse people dispersed throughout the distinctive neighborhoods and boroughs. From Broadway shows, to great shopping, this city truly offers something for everyone. Start in East Village, and see what all the trendsetters are wearing. Make your way to Brooklyn, to check out the hidden gems of the indie boutiques, or nosh on some delicious bakery. Later, hop on the train to Fifth Avenue, a fashion lover’s dream, to peruse the racks of some of the hippest shops in town. But don’t forget to get your art on, site seeing at the MET, or catching a great Broadway show. And of course, the bar scene in Time Square can’t be missed. Chicago Ah Chicago. It’s home to some of the greatest pizza ever…the deep dish. Sure it may be windy, but it’s got a thriving art scene and a variety of shopping districts and eateries to keep you busy for days. If you’re a photographer, you’ll marvel at the magnificence of the skyscrapers and public art. To see some of the architectural beauty up close and personal, check out Millennium Park or take a Chicago Architecture Tour. For a different perspective, check out Willis Tower’s Skydeck or 360 Chicago. Just don’t forget to bundle up! Yellowstone Yellowstone is an outdoor lovers dream! It’s packed with glorious peaks and gorgeous lakes. You’ll be in absolute awe of the multicolored hot springs, expansive forests with generous meadows, and explosive glaciers. It’s true untainted nature at its finest. Don’t be surprised to find some furry guests, as you trek through the 3,000-‐mile terrain. At any moment, you could view buffalo, elk and even grizzlies! Though Old Faithful is a must see, you’ll want to definitely make time for Mammoth Hot Springs and Yellowstone Lake. San Francisco San Francisco is perfect for artsy, free spirited, imaginative types. It’s better known as the cooler, more refined cousin of Los Angeles, but also the west coast version of

New York. It’s full of colorful neighborhoods and gorgeous views. The singer, Tony Bennett, famously left his heart there, and for good reason! The city is famous for its jaw-‐dropping views, buzzing nightlife, quaint cafes and world-‐class cuisine. It’s robust with activity, and you’ll never be left bored of things to do. Get your camera ready to take stunning photos of the Twin Peaks. And while you’re at, don’t miss a ride on the world-‐famous cable cars. You’ll also want to visit Fisherman’s Wharf. But a San Francisco trip isn’t a San Francisco trip without a visit to the Golden Gate Bridge. Savannah This list certainly wouldn’t be complete without showing a little love to the south. While it’s somewhat known for its haunted landscapes, it’s just as known for its delicious southern cooking. Savannah could be the spokesperson for southern charm. The people are polite, well mannered and super friendly. It’s a city steeped in tradition, and if you want to blend in, you best bring some upscale attire. On the flipside, unlike the other cities mentioned, this city is bit more slower-‐paced. To get a real taste of what this city has to offer, check out Bonaventure Cemetery, the historic Owens-‐Thomas Museum, or the lively River Street District. Here are just a few U.S. cities to get you started on your fall voyage. If you’ve got some cities that you recommend of your own, don’t be shy. Please share. I’m always game for a good time!
