Meditation Tips for People With Busy Lives Meditation is a fantastic tool that can help you achieve peace of mind, a present state of awareness, and increased spiritual consciousness. Unfortunately, some people believe that meditation is too long of a process, and they simply can’t be bothered to make time for such an arduous task. But sometimes, it’s the people who are the busiest that need it the most. If you’re one of the people who live an exceptionally busy life, then this article is for you. Listed below are three tips to help you get started on your meditation journey. Moving Meditation When most people think of meditation, they typically envision a person sitting with legs crossed, breathing deeply in and out. But there are multiple ways in which you can practice mindfulness, including taking a mindful walk. For three to five minutes, get up and take a walk. Use the time of silence to clear your head, eliminating thoughts of work and life responsibilities from your mind. It’s normal for your mind to wander. But if this happens, make it a habit to bring it back to the focused intention of walking. Yoga or Stretching Stretching is great for many things, including helping to increase energy, releasing tension in the body, and preventing injury. Many people report that stretching helps them to feel happier, and that’s because your body naturally releases dopamine while stretching. But it’s also an excellent tool for meditation. Stretching doesn’t have to be an hour long routine. You can do this in about 10-‐15 minutes effectively, without even leaving your bed. To get the most benefits, it’s important to practice deep breathing, and really stay present while performing the stretching exercises. Hold each of your stretches for about 30 seconds. The more you stretch, the more flexible you will become and the more calm you will begin to feel. Meditating Before Bed Regardless of how busy you are, you will need to sleep eventually. Why not kill two birds with one stone by meditating just prior to sleeping? Every night before bed, take a few minutes to do some deep breathing. This is a great time to clear out the clutter from the day. You can opt to shut out everything, or you can take the time to go back and examine parts of your day, and sending healing energy to the moments of your day that weren’t so nice. Closing your eyes, while breathing deeply for just a few minutes is excellent preparation for sleep. It is recommended to meditate for at least 15 minutes a day, but you can achieve just as benefits of meditation by incorporating short bursts of mindfulness throughout the day. Remember, it takes at least 30 days for something to become a habit. So make the commitment to try at least one of these tips today.
