“ASVETRA, the Basque Entrepreneurs’ Association of Bus Transport, was set up in 1977 and since then has been a key agent in promoting the safety, sustainability and constant innovation in the passenger transport sector by road in the Basque Country. ASVETRA includes important inter‐city bus transport companies like ALSA, AUTOBUSES LA UNIÓN, COMPAÑÍA DE AUTOBUSES VASCONGADOS, ENCARTACIONES S.A.,EXCURSIONES URBANO,LEINTZ GARRAIOAK, NEX CONTINENTAL, PESA and TRANSPORTES COLECTIVOS (BIZKAIBUS and BILBOBUS). Together they have a fleet of over 300 vehicles.

The Territorial Transport Authority of Gipuzkoa (ATTG), formed by Basque Country gobernment, Gipuzkoa regional council, and seven municipalities over the region, has deal an ambitious project looking for a territorial sustainable transport policy, implementing a common faring system for all the region and all transport modes. Gipuzkoa citizens have a common, easy and social responsible faring system thanks to MUGI smart card, which enables the more you travel the cheaper you pay the trip. The MUGI Smart card also offers discounts for youngsters, elders, social and disabled profile citizens, rated depending on their annual incomes. ATTG is the responsible of the clearing systems so it is ATTG who pays the transport operators according to the trips. Annually, 60 million trips are done in this system.

AR has a tech centre exclusively devoted to R&D activities, as well as an advanced engineering project development department, enabling us to respond appropriately to the most demanding logistics requirements. A highly qualified technical team constantly tests and analyses products and materials in order to improve performance; simulates, calculates and researches geometry efficiency (by means of specialised software); and performs complete structural calculations on the behaviour of our installed systems in different scenarios. The Department of Environment and Territorial Planning of the Basque Government has its functions and areas of action those that correspond to Territorial Planning, Environment and Transport.

The Directorate of Traffic is the body in charge of preparing and managing road safety policies in the Basque Autonomous Community. It manages and monitors road traffic and safety in inter-urban areas; it plans, directs and coordinates actions to improve road safety and fluidity, and informs users. It arranges the installation and use of ITS for the control, regulation, surveillance and discipline of traffic on public roads, in addition to establishing special traffic regulation measures.

Eusko Trenbideak – Ferrocarriles Vascos, S.A, a publicly owned company dependent on the Basque Government, was established in 1982 to manage the provision of freight and passenger rail and road transport services within the Autonomous Community of Basque Country.

’Mugikortasun Kudeaketa Zerbitzuak Mobility Management Services’, better known as MKZ, it’s created from a chain of experiences and ideas raised over the years in regards of the mobility concept of ‘car sharing or car clubs’ and travel demand management schemes. In order to provide solutions and promote a new paradigm in Mobility and Access Management, MKZ has been involved in the configuration and implementation of different Basque Car Sharing Services like: IBILKARI; UKANAUTO; AUZOKAR; EMUGI or LURRALDEKAR. The University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) is a research university awarded by the Spanish government as Campus of International Excellence. Its commitment to local companies leads to many collaborations in different fields. In particular, is the faculty of the Master in Transportation Systems degree who are mainly involved in the activities of the Cluster. The aim of our Masters degree is to educate specialists in the field of Mobility Management. We provide comprehensive and multidisciplinary training concerning economic, regulatory and environmental areas, while we mainly focus on the field of transport modelling and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). The students have a practical training period in a local company or institution and all of the master thesis deal with studies/problems suggested by the companies or institutions themselves.

VIA was set up in 1994 on the initiative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Alava in order to respond to the need to develop a policy to promote and market Vitoria International Airport as an international-class intermodal centre. Today, VIA is formed by four partners; Transport Department of the Basque Government, Vitoria-Gasteiz Town Hall, Provincial Council of Alava and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Alava. VIA’s main activity focuses on two areas. On the one hand, to disseminate information on the benefits and quality of the services offered by Vitoria International Airport among members of the World Freight Community. On the other, provide the businesses that operate on the airport with support in order to improve their services and increase their competitiveness on the international market. In this sense, we should highlight the fact that VIA forms part of the International Air Cargo Association (TIACA), a worldwide organisation that defends the interests of the air cargo industry and contributes to the development of international trade.
