BURBERRY HEADQUARTERS INTB342 COMMERCIAL DESIGN This course is the design and presentation of a complex commercial project with emphasis on universal and barrier free design as well as the workplace environment. CONCEPT STATEMENT Burberry is relocating their regional office to Schaumburg, IL they are looking to create a visually stimulating workplace that captures the essence of the brand while increasing creativity and collaboration. Sophisticated, slick, and hard surfaces in gloss finishes will be utilized throughout the space combined with a neutral palette to provide contrast and emphasis on their products. The overall design will feature modern elegance and simplicity. Interior offices will be glass enclosed and located along the core of the building, on the perimeter workstations with low partitions will allow the flow of light into the entire space. Latest Technology along with energy saving appliances, no VOC paint and PVC free materials will be utilized throughout. Burberry office design will incorporate function and style to create collaboration and foster innovation.

CONCEPT STATEMENT The simple shape of this engaging reception desk compliments the overall office feel, provides ample of storage and privacy while maintaining interaction and approachability. ANDERSON RESIDENCE INTB212 RESIDENTIAL DESIGN I This course explores the design of residential interiors as a problem solving process, with applications to a variety of residential interiors. Areas of study include concept development, human factors, programming and space planning, color, furniture and finish selection as well as concepts of universal design, sustainability and historic precedent. CONCEPT STATEMENT The Anderson Residence combines Art Deco design with modern and contemporary elements to create a space that addresses each of the family member’s needs. Existing floor plan is rezoned to create an open floor plan with a harmonious flow while maintaining clearly defined private areas. The design will take full advantage of the natural light available to provide warmth and beauty. The combination of clean line geometric furniture with smooth textures and neutral colors throughout the space create a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Designed space will feature latest technology while promoting environment responsibly with the use of energy star appliances, eco-friendly cabinetry and energy saving fixtures. Ultimately, the home design will portray the style and needs of the Anderson family in order to bring them together yet providing each of them with a space for privacy. A model is built to 1/4” =1’-0” scale, to function as a study tool to better understand the designed space. Materials used in the construction include foam core, balsa wood and heavy weight vellum.

ANDERSON RESIDENCE INTB262 CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS This course explores the contract document process for interior spaces. Students produce an advanced set of design drawings. CONCEPT STATEMENT To create full set of construction documents based on the design created in INTB212 Residential Design I - Anderson Residence. Drawings are produced in AutoDesk AutoCAD. All drawings labeled at original scale. Full set available upon request.

DEMOLITION PLAN NOTES 1. Abandon and remove existing casework, cabinets, counter tops, sink and appliances. Remove and cap existing plumbing and associated piping as necessary. Patch all affected surfaces to match new/existing finishes. 2. Remove existing plumbing fixtures and mirror. Patch all affected surfaces to match new finishes. 3. STUKAS RESIDENCE INTB302 RESIDENTIAL DESIGN II This course is the design and presentation of a complex residential project with an emphasis on historic precedent. CONCEPT STATEMENT The approach to the Stukas residence kitchen remodel began by creating an open floor plan for the service and public zones where the family and friends can enjoy cooking and socializing together. The space will take advantage of the adjacent dining area to expand the kitchen in order to address the needs and requirements of the client to create a larger kitchen that allows ample space to be utilized by multiple users. The character of the kitchen is defined by a mix of farmhouse style and modern features. The kitchen will be unified with light cabinetry and clean geometric lines. An open shelving system will be used as the focal point. An island cooking area will be created to provide ample work space with additional seating for guests. Throughout the kitchen commercial grade appliances and technology will be used as applicable. Ultimately, the kitchen will portray the style and needs of Sigitas and Loreta in order to bring them a more social yet functional space. Drawings are produced in SketchUp Layout using NKBA standards. All drawings labeled at original scale. Full set available upon request.

RESIDENTIAL LOFT INTB313 DIGITAL MODELING This course introduces students to 3D modeling software as a communication tool. Students produce design solutions volumetrically as part of the design process. Students will also apply camera and lighting techniques as they apply to interior environments. CONCEPT STATEMENT The loft was redesigned to suit the clients needs for a contemporary and industrial loft that is located in the heart of downtown Chicago. The character of the space was achieved with the use of exposed brick, stained concrete and wood throughout the space. Ample of artificial lighting provides comfort while maximizing natural light with highly reflective flooring material which becomes an important part of design. Energy saving appliances and recycled wood are utilized throughout the space, as applicable.

CARGO COFFEE INTB332 ENVIRONMENTAL & SUSTAINABLE DESIGN This course covers the principles and practices of sustainable and environmental design as applied to a design project. CONCEPT STATEMENT Cargo Coffee will be located in New York City on the corner of 2nd and 92nd street. Construction for the coffee house will begin using sustainable and environmental materials and products to meet LEED requirements. The overall design of the space will be rustic and nature inspired, incorporating much of recycled materials. Building will be constructed using 40’ and 20’ shipping containers.

SPROUT INTB352 HOSPITALITY DESIGN This course is the design and presentation of a hospitality project with emphasis on innovation and creativity. CONCEPT STATEMENT Sprout is a contemporary American restaurant located in Chicago, Illinois. The restaurant focuses on seasonal fresh food, primarily farm to table, that is served family style. The designed restaurant space will feature elements of contemporary design that is mixed with a touch of industrial design through the use of architectural elements, lighting, and custom furniture. The restaurant will feature a large closed kitchen, bar with seating, an outdoor patio area and main dining area with table and booth seating. A neutral color scheme will be created with the use of gray concrete throughout the design. A combination of warm hard wood and living walls will create an inviting atmosphere, they will be featured in various uses to create unity. A custom ceiling design mounted below acoustical ceiling tiles will provide ambient lighting throughout the restaurant and increase sound isolation. Eco-friendly materials, fixtures and appliances will be utilized throughout the space, as applicable. Sprout restaurant will provide customers, families and friends with an environment that encourages them to enjoy, savor and explore the flavors and possibilities of seasonal food.

EDPA MIDWEST CHALLENGE FIRST PLACE WINNING TEAM DESIGN A collaboration between Graphic Design and Interior Design Majors. This project took the first place at the student design competition help by EDPA Midwest. The students where asked to submit an Exhibit Design for The Counter Top Factory working in teams of two. The award ceremony took place at the 2016 EDPA Presenters Challenge where the winning team received the opportunity to present their design to the audience. CONCEPT STATEMENT The overall design is to create an architectural space within a space in order to establish The Counter Top Factory’s leadership, presence and abilities in the hospitality market, while maintaining brand identity. The exhibit design will feature interactive areas for users to experience TCF’s products in order to drive an interactive user experience that will achieve a stand out presence and drive qualified sales. The concept of this design is to provide a high-impact “WOW Factor” that is engaging, creative and customer driven. This booth will feature a two story design that is meant to capture audience attention and bring them into the booth to further explore what TCF has to offer through interchangeable graphics and videos. ASA RESIDENCE INTB412 INSTITUTIONAL DESIGN This course is the design and presentation of an Institutional Project with emphasis on anthropometrics, human factors, and human behavior. Overall building design was created as a team assignment, with individuals focusing on dedicated areas. FACILITY CONCEPT STATEMENT Our community is designed around gathering together to enjoy every daily activity imaginable. The residents will truly feel at home and surrounded by the perfect balance of serenity and energy as they spend their days here with us. The carefully thought out design provides the capability to suit the needs of the mature population in many stages of their lives. DESIGNED PUBLIC SPACE CONCEPT STATEMENT The pool area and locker rooms of the ASA Residence are dedicated to all of the residents and their guests to use at their convenience. The pool area will be designed with a modern touch, clean lines, curtain walls and brighter colors to bring warmth year round. The locker rooms are placed with an entrance directly into the pool for easy access and privacy. Locker rooms feature dual flush toilets and motion censored faucets. The facility is open for the residents to use all the amenities 24/7 which can be accessed with a key card. By offering these facilities residents are able to get exercise, relaxation and other services that contribute to the overall well-being.

DESIGNED SPACE ASSISTED LIVING STUDIO CONCEPT STATEMENT In the residential assisted living studio, the overall character of the space is transitional with neutral color schemes and furniture, to allow the residents to bring their own touch to the spaces.

Ample amount of lighting in the units provide clear visibility creating comfort and home like environment. Unit is designed to be located along one main corridor to provide ease of access to one common area and outdoor space.

Each unit will have access to a common area that includes a kitchen, dining and living area. Low VOC paint and carpeting are utilized throughout the space, along with energy saving appliances and furnishings that are easy to utilize.

LOTUS WELLNESS CENTER INTB402 SENIOR STUDIO I & INTB422 SENIOR STUDIO II Skills from the entire program are leveraged into a final portfolio project motivated by environmentally sound, cost-effective and responsible design practices. CONCEPT STATEMENT Lotus Wellness Center will be located in Chicago, Illinois and focus on creating a holistic approach to healing. The facility will be designed with an extensive focus placed on universal design. This will be achieved through the use of equipment that is useful and marketable with users of all abilities and has the flexibility to accommodate individual preferences. The facility layout and design will be easy for the users to navigate and understand. The overall concept will be for all the spaces to be used by individuals with a low physical effort and comfortably, this will be achieved in part by maintaining appropriate sizes and spaces for approach and use for all individuals. The designed space will feature elements from the surrounding Chicago land nature. A blending together of rich textures, modern shapes, and innovative design will enrich the overall client experience of the facility. The wellness center will feature large exercise areas, along with a pool and an intimate yoga and meditation room. A neutral color scheme will be created with a use of natural elements throughout the design. Custom ceiling design in the reception area will provide acoustical separation and add an interest factor to the space. Eco- friendly materials, fixtures and appliances will be utilized throughout the space, as applicable. Lotus Wellness Center will provide a nurturing, happy and healthy environment that encourage users to be themselves and to better their lives through a holistic approach.
