Where is it ? Wadowice is a town located in the south of Poland. The population of Wadowice is around 19,000 It is also a home town of Saint John Paul II. Wadowice is today mainly a centre for tourism and sightseeing, but also a place for small industries such as the production of machines and construction materials. There is also the headquarters of the biggest juice-maker of Poland – Maspex – and the shoe producer – Badura. Currently more than 200,000 people visit Wadowice every year


HISTORICAL SITES Monastery of Saint Joseph and Karmelitów Bosych - There is a church and a monastery which was built in 1899. In the sanctuary there are relices of St. Rafał Kalinowski who was a founder of this place.

Monument of John Paul II the statue is made of bronze and it was built in 2006. The statue is located on the mainsquare in front of the church and next to the Pope’s family house.


Basilica of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary on the market in Wadowice, where the future Pope prayed many times there in the Chapel of the Holy Family There is also a baptismal font at which Karol Wojtyla was baptized 20 May 1920.

Near the Basilica there is a family home of John Pope II. Today there is a modest, but given a lot of interest museum with many interesting memorials of the Great Pole.

ZAPIEKANKA- special bread roll with cheese, mushrooms and ketchup, sometimes with ham

KREMÓWKA- a cake with a special cream. It’s known as a Pope’s cake, bacause during one of JPII’s visits in Poland, Polish Pope told a story about eating these cakes after exams :)

In Wadowice you can spend your free time in many different ways. You can ride a horse in a stud farm "Jowisz". It's a really nice for people who are horses’lovers. If you like parties you can go to a Bowling Club. Many good DJs play over there. You can also go to a swimming pool. It's really big and fun. If you enjoy walking you can go for a walk to a park. It's so beautiful! If you like sweets, there is a cafe ''Galicjanka'' in the city centre where you can taste delicious cakes. For people who like doing sports a gym in Wadiwice Park is a perfect place.

NIGHT LIFE There are some clubs for young people, for example Barocco Music Club or Bowling and Bilard Club. You can also go to Energy2000, a disco which is close to Wadowice. In the cities very close to Wadowice, as well as in Wadowice, there are organized many different festivals, Reggae Most, Energylandia Top Festival, Live Oświecim Festival with Polish and foreign artists.
