SPACE A leading European partner in the space sector Our Space division is a provider of advanced software technology and professional engineering services. Starting 30+ years ago, our expertise and solutions are pivotal to the successful realisation of space missions, satellites, ground-segment infrastructures, control centres, data services and user applications. SCISYS has successfully supported more than 50 national and international space missions. With PLENITER® we provide a unique and highly integrated software suite for the planning, implementation and operation of complete satellite missions. Our customers are system primes, spacecraft manufacturers, satellite operators, system integrators
and major research laboratories, as well as international space industry, organisations and companies. OPERATIONS SCISYS provides experts who assist customers in the delivery of mission services at their operational facilities. Our engineers support spacecraft missions and core teams around the world in the area of systems & software engineering, operations, flight dynamics, spacecraft control, data dissemination and IT/software support. SPACE SEGMENT We develop high-integrity onboard flight software for space missions, for all aspects of the lifecycle – from

system requirements, architecture, design and integration through to test, validation, quality assurance, operation and maintenance. USER APPLICATIONS SCISYS helps realise the value of space missions by supporting the exploitation of space-derived services for our customers. SCISYS addresses
AUTOMATION We facilitate cost-effective operations, notably through our APEX procedure execution product. Our engineers lead the European market in the use of autonomy and automation by achieving lower lifecycle costs for mission operators and enhanced data systems, as well as for non-space applications. MISSION CONTROL SCISYS provides control centres that process satellite real-time telemetry and telecommands. Our team supports a range of institutional, commercial and military missions, primarily using ESA’s SCOS-2000 or our egmc2 based systems. ROBOTICS AND AUTONOMY We develop and integrate auto
nomous systems for space and non-space applications. These cover autonomous navigation, planning & execution, as well as image recognition, intelligent surveying and asset mapping. SCISYS offers a proprietary, end-to-end software framework (Overseer) for complete autonomy deployment and operations. Our activities span R&D, prototyping, industrialisation, field deployment & service provision. We are also leaders in the validation and verification of autonomous systems. DATA SEGMENT SCISYS provides management services for complex information and communication infrastructures. Our proprietary software framework egmc2 delivers a powerful and demonstrably proven technology for the realisation of advanced operational ground systems and data services.
MODELLING AND SIMULATION We ensure the success of space missions through a range of simulators that model the satellite subsystems, ground stations, orbits and the environment to support mission operations preparation, as well as validation and training. DATA RECEPTION Based on our proven 2met!® concept, we are one of the leading suppliers of ground station solutions for data from Earth Observation satellite missions and for production of value-added applications. SCISYS UK SCISYS – at the heart of our customers’ businesses Our IT services and solutions span a wide range of sectors, technologies and capabilities. The range of markets and problems where we have integrated parts of a process is huge, including Defence, Govern ment, Maritime, Transport, Utilities and Automotive. As the common denominator, all these solutions are business critical and add value to our customers’ core business processes. We supply central and local government departments and agencies, and increasingly complement this focal area as we address commercial customers from utilities, transport and automotive sectors. Our “whole life” delivery approach supports customer programmes from early business analysis through to imple-
mentation and deployment and finally into long-term support and operations support. Our ability to join up software systems and link them to complex hardware to provide seamless solutions to “too hard” problems is second to none. Across a wide range of domains, “We integrate where others fear to go!” All of them benefit from our independence from any specific vendor hardware or software and from each other – transferring solutions from domains where they are familiar to those where they are unknown. An example of moving our know-how from the defence market to the maritime market was the relationship we
developed with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) to assist them in building the Shannon-class prototype using ground-breaking technology. Five years into that relationship, with the Shannon class lifeboats now in operation, they have awarded us a million-pound contract to equip another 12 lifeboats. Our MACSYS electronic architecture for maritime applications has been progressed as a spin-off of our intellectual property derived from our armoured fighting vehicle solution and our bespoke approach for the RNLI lifeboats. Using the MACSYS offering we won an R&D study which explores ways of improving the usability of navigation displays for better situational
awareness on assault vessels operating in various sea states and speeds. Spending on defence is driven by government policy and will always be under political scrutiny. However, software and IT services (SITS) implementation is seen as a strong cost saver in the military. A new way of procuring and managing IT services and software is now firmly embedded across UK central government departments and agencies and this has now filtered down into the broader public sector. There has been a move away from awarding monolithic IT outsourcing contracts. Digital strategy is now a key theme across central government. The
current policy is that centralised framework agreements are used first in procurements. Our key differentiator is flexibly using our comprehensive in-depth knowledge in advanced technological areas to generate value for our customers. We demonstrate our wide-spread skills as we deliver projects which range from mapping and spatial data solutions over electronics architectures to big data-handling systems as well as smart integration of diverse software and hardware components. This is supported by our own bespoke development and reusable frameworks allowing us to create seamless working environments for the users’ benefit. 8 9
