READY FOR THE NEW TV REVOLUTION ULTRA HIGH DEFINITION
Ultra HD standards, equipment, production and post-production are about to become reality in the TV world.
DIGITAL CINEMA
ULTRA HD VIA SATELLITE
The digital cinema revolution is now moving towards 4k (4096 pixels over 2160 lines), which offers an enhanced image on large screens. Several dozen major feature films have been produced using 4k cameras.
Ultra HD will require significant transmission capacity, that some terrestrial systems will not be able to provide everywhere immediately.
ULTRA HD FORMATS & IMPLEMENTATION Two formats exist in Ultra HD: Quad HDTV/4k TV (3840 pixels over 2160 lines) and 8k TV (7860 pixels over 4320 lines).
SATELLITE IS ULTRA HD READY. HERE AND NOW. > Satellite capacity is fully transparent and requires no modification to accommodate Ultra HD transmissions > Satellite can transport several Quad HDTV / 4k TV channels per transponder
Ultra HD will provide an unprecedented viewing experience, with cinema-like picture quality. Consumer equipment, mainly TV sets, is expected to start reaching the market in 2013/ 2014, and on a larger scale from 2015. The take-off of Ultra HD should be facilitated by the forthcoming implementation of a new compression standard, HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding).
> Satellite ensures easy and flexible use for demonstration and commercial Ultra HD channels > Satellite ensures equal picture quality throughout the entire coverage(s)
