Caterpillar Classroom News This week in the caterpillar room we have been tasting and experiencing American foods! From pizza to ice cream and french fries and the kids have made it all! They especially liked the ice cream party we had on Tuesday. On Thursday we welcomed in our new student Scarlett and the kids enjoyed getting to know her while we ate at the indoor picnic that we created during our snack time! Be prepared for next week as we welcome back Mrs. Lori and take some time to learn all about camping!

BACK TO SCHOOL Did you know that PDO is not just a child day care center? Nosiree! PDO Childcare Center has a Pre-school built right in! That is right, our Caterpillar and Butterfly rooms function as a Preschool using curriculum and teaching skills used at all preschools to get your child ready for kindergarten. So, it is back to school time for your kids too! Here are some fun ways to hang with your kids and get ready for the new year…. Trick out your child’s back pack….. WHAT TO DO Cut out eyes and teeth from iron-on vinyl, position, and iron according to package instructions (an adult’s job; make sure the fabric is pulled very tight). Cut features out of thick green felt and hot-glue in place (an adult’s job). Draw on pupils with permanent marker. WHAT TO DO Gather three to five different-size foam pouncers and at least three colors of craft paint, squirted onto paper. Dip the largest pouncer in paint, dab on paper to remove excess, then pounce it onto the bag. Repeat with other sizes (largest to smallest); let dry. WHAT TO DO Help your child pin the patches in place and arrange until he likes the mix. Glue or iron (an adult’s job) them on according to package instructions. Then attach any buttons and pins. Date(s) requesting for vacation: ___________________________________________ VACATION DAYS/ EXTENDED LEAVE POLICY: Parents will receive five (5) days of vacation after six months of continuous care at PDO. Vacation days will renew each year on January 1st. You are not required to pay for these days.
A Vacation Day Request Form must be filled out and turned into the office one week prior to requesting vacation days. These forms can be found in the office. In the event of an extended leave of absence (a period greater than two weeks), families will forfeit their 5 days of vacation. If you choose to have your child take an unpaid leave of absence (i.e. summer vacation) you will then run the risk of losing your child’s spot in the classroom. If you do not want to risk losing your child’s spot, you are responsible for paying tuition during the leave of absence whether your child attends the center or not. Families returning and re-enrolling after an extended leave of absence are required to pay a discounted registration fee of $25 upon re-enrollment. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------For office use only: Received: __________________________________ Approved: _________________________________
