Butterfly Classroom News This week we talked about summer! We made popsicles and ice cream cones. We did balloon paintings and made lightning bugs. The children also practiced tracing letters and our days of the week and months of the year. We also had rice in the sensory table to practice measuring. The children also enjoyed the book, “Wash Your Hands. Have a great weekend!

Caterpillar Classroom News This week the caterpillars continued to have a great time with balls, balloons and bubbles! Water balloon basketball was a big hit! We also bowled with soft balls and paper tube rolls for the pins! We experimented making our own bouncy balls with glue and cornstarch mixed in a water and borax solution! We created process art using balloons, bubble wrap and foam soap dispensers! We also celebrated Nehvin's and Olivia's 3rd birthdays!

BEAT THE HEAT FUN! Cold Potato For a refreshing change to this silly game, pass around a wet, spraying potato. Use a pin to poke a hole in a water balloon, then fill it with water and make sure the balloon has a slow — but steady — leak. Gather your kids and some friends together in a circle and toss the leaky balloon from one player to the next — spraying everyone in the process. Be sure to throw it quickly: The goal is to pass the balloon before it runs out of water! The Game of Splat Fill a dozen water balloons and take turns throwing them high into the air over the driveway or sidewalk. Make sure they pop on impact because you're competing to see who can make the biggest water splat. Use chalk to trace the outline of the watermark and determine who won. OR Toss the balloons to a partner holding a bowl and see if they can catch and splash! Taken from: http:// www.grandparents.com/grandkids/ activities-games-and-crafts/10-fun-waysbeat-the-heat

Date(s) requesting for vacation: ___________________________________________ VACATION DAYS/ EXTENDED LEAVE POLICY: Parents will receive five (5) days of vacation after six months of continuous care at PDO. Vacation days will renew each year on January 1st. You are not required to pay for these days. A Vacation Day Request Form must be filled out and turned into the office one week prior to requesting vacation days. These forms can be found in the office. In the event of an extended leave of absence (a period greater than two weeks), families will forfeit their 5 days of vacation. If you choose to have your child take an unpaid leave of absence (i.e. summer vacation) you will then run the risk of losing your child’s spot in the classroom. Unpaid spots will not be held throughout the summer or any other extended period. We cannot guarantee that there will be availability in your child’s classroom after an unpaid leave of absence. If you do not want to risk losing your child’s spot, you are responsible for paying tuition during the leave of absence whether your child attends the center or not. Families returning and re-enrolling after an extended leave of absence are required to pay a discounted registration fee of $25 upon re-enrollment. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------For office use only: Received: __________________________________ Approved: _________________________________
