Butterfly Classroom News This week’s theme was Christmas in July. The children had fun making candy canes, snow flakes, Christmas trees, stockings and wreaths. We also listened to Christmas music and had some fun Christmas stories. Pretend snow filled up the sensory table. What a fun unit this was, the children really enjoyed it! Have a great weekend.

Caterpillar Classroom News Playing with the balls in the pool and running through the sprinklers was the highlight of our week in the Caterpillar Room! We experimented this week with water beads and water. We put the beads in bottles and balloons so we could safely manipulate them and identify the colors. We also tried making our own bubble solution! This was
lots of fun! We painted this week with pool noodles and tried batting balloons with the noodles. This was a little hard! Next week is wild west week! Hee haw!

MAKE THE MOST OF A RAINY DAY Stuck inside because of rain (or heat these days)? Make the most of that rainy day and have some good old fashioned family fun time. Here are some ideas for some indoor games: One-word story: Starting with “Once upon a time,” go around the room and have each person add a single word to the story. Tip: Decide on a genre in advance―fairy tale, ghost story, etc.―and go from there! Hold a Mini-Marshmallow Popping Contest What You Need Scissors, utility knife, markers, ruler, rubber bands, glue, tape (transparent, duct, masking, or colored), gift wrap or decorative paper, kraft paper, balloon, uninflated (1 per popper), paper cup, bottom cut off (1 per popper), mini marshmallows What to Do Knot the end of the balloon, then snip off ½ inch from the top. Stretch the balloon over the cutoff end of the cup so that the knot is in the center. (You’ll need to hold the balloon in place when you “pop,” or secure it with a rubber band for little hands.) Place a mini marshmallow into the cup so it fits snugly in the knotted center of the balloon. While aiming the cup away from you (and others), pull the knot back, release, and send the marshmallow soaring. See who can pop marshmallows the farthest or get the most into a bowl that’s a few feet away. Vacation days will renew each year on January 1st. You are not required to pay for these days. A Vacation Day Request Form must be filled out and turned into the office one week prior to requesting vacation days. These forms can be found in the office. In the event of an extended leave of absence (a period greater than two weeks), families will forfeit their 5 days of vacation. If you do not want to risk losing your child’s spot, you are responsible for paying tuition during the leave of absence whether your child attends the center or not.
