RESEARCH Topological Transmutation of the Urban Heat Islands - Experimenting ecological urbanistic intervention of puiblic spaces in Toledo Research Assistant

THE PLAN Journal est. April 2022

This design-based peer reviewed research project aims to address and combat the Urban Heat Island (UHI) in Toledo, Ohio by providing multiple blueprints for reducing the UHI, but also how these blueprints can harness the existing UHI as a benefit to the underserved populations around the city. As the research assistant to Yong Huang, I helped write and edit the paper, located research sources to be used as references, developed a site blueprint along with the student collaborators, managed and oversaw student collaborates progress, coordinated communications between students, and helped ensure consistent graphical standards across each blueprint. This research has been submitted to THE PLAN Journal and is currently in the process of peer-review, estimated publication date is spring 2022.

COMMUNITY Last Patrol Museum and Training Command Design Coordinator

2021 - Current

During the summer of 2021, two co-founders of a small non-profit based in Toledo, Ohio contacted the Architecture and Environmental Design Department at Bowling Green State University. They inquired for help to update the Old Bay View Naval Armory graphics in order to raise the funding needed to save the building. Their goal is to rebuild this historic structure into an educational military museum and training center for youth groups. Since our initial meeting, I have served as the link between students at Bowling Green State University and the Last Patrol. In 2022, our goal is to redesign the building and use these updated drawings for crowdfunding.
