MONROE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE

5-Year Maintenance and Improvement Millage PROTECTING OUR COLLEGE

70% of Monroe County residents or their immediate family members have taken classes at MCCC

14 in

Monroe County grads get their college start at MCCC!

For a full list of proposed projects, please visit: www.monroeccc. edu/millage

Due to substantial losses in property tax revenue, Monroe County Community College has had to delay many maintenance and improvement needs that are now critical to its future. How Will the Money be Used? • Safety: Enhance and improve safety and security across campus, including a door key card system, emergency lighting, security cameras and fire sprinkler systems. • Accessibility: Make facilities accessible for people with disabilities, including the Learning Assistance Lab, restrooms, elevators and door hardware. • Technology: Upgrade technology network infrastructure, including updates to classrooms and the fiber optic network. • Updating the Learning Environment: Renovate specific areas to maintain and improve the academic environment. These include the Library and various classrooms. • Deferred Maintenance: Ensure and maintain the quality of facilities campus-wide through roof repairs and replacement of doors, windows, roofs and other outdated items. How much will it cost the average homeowner? For a home with a market value of $100,000 (estimated taxable value of $50,000), the cost of the millage will be $42.50 per year – less than 82¢ a week.

Students with physical disabilities must go through loading docks to access certain areas.

Masonry ribs along the Life Sciences Building will eventually collapse if major structural repairs are not made.

Support columns at the Whitman Center in Temperance are sinking and causing critical damage.

www.monroeccc.edu Monroe County Community College is an equal opportunity institution and adheres to a policy that no qualified person shall be discriminated against because of race, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, age, gender, marital status, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, height, weight or veteran’s status in any program or activity for which it is responsible.

NEW!

Wine Making Class for Enthusiasts Join Chef Kevin Thomas, along with wine makers Harry Granito and Cory Gray for this Bacchus Society-driven wine-making experience. You will meet for six Saturdays in the MCCC wine lab and will not only learn how to make wine, but will bottle, label and keep the wine you produce. In addition to making wine, you will be taught about global wine regions along with tastings and light hors d’oeuvres with each class session. You will be working in pairs so it is recommended you register with a friend. This is a limited-enrollment course and we expect it to fill up quickly. Cheers!
