Location: Santa Catalina Island, USA

There is such an animal in the world, with such a huge body, born in the sea, grow in the sea, hidden in the sea, return to the sea, the tenderness of life, the death of the infinite gifts to all living things, biologists give this process of death a name "whale fall". A whale carcass can support a whole life system for up to a hundred years, but it is becoming increasingly rare. The design is based on the study of the four phases of the whale's fall, the extraction of elements, and the composition of the form, shaping the space with the connotation of the four processes of the whale, from life to death to the return to the sea. In this way, it establishes a place of mourning as well as a museum, alerts people to the protection of marine animals and the environment, and promotes the ecological restoration of the selected site.

▪ This process can last from 4 to 24 months.

S a n C l e m e n te Island ▪ At this stage, particularly attractive are invertebrates especially polychaetes and crustaceans.

▪ During this time 90% of the carcass will be decomposed.

STAGE1: Mobile-scavenger stage

▪ Use remnant whale carcasses as habitat.

▪ Large numbers of anaerobic bacteria enter the whale bones and other tissues and break down the lipids therein.

▪ Constantly changing the environment in which they themselves are located.

▪ Hydrogen sulfide is produced using sulfate dissolved in seawater as an oxidizer.

STAGE2: Enrichment-opportunist stage

▪ Chemoautotrophic bacteria, which use hydrogen sulfide as a source of energy, use water to oxidize it and obtain energy. ▪ When the organic material in the remnants of the whale fall is depleted, the mineral remains of the whale bones serve as a reef for the creatures to settle on.

02 Empowerment Shelter Women's Community Design

TIME: 03/2023-06/2023 Individual work

Location: New Deli, India

All Indian women, irrespective of their background, have come to terms with the reality that when they are in the public space, they can be harassed, abducted, and even raped in extreme cases; and for middle and lower class women, they are not only subjected to security issues, but they are also economically impoverished and chronologically impoverished, which results in them not being able to live freely and securely in the world. This design utilizes traditional occupations suitable for women such as sustainable agriculture, textiles, and education combined with the Internet to promote the advancement of women's empowerment. The design also uses landscape architecture to create female-friendly neighborhoods to enhance community safety. All of these will enable women to acquire skills, improve their economic level, have a voice in this highly urbanized space, and gradually build a freer, safer, and more equal society!

03 Living with Water Ecological Design for Flooded Landscapes

TIME: 06/2023-11/2023 Individual work

Location: Huaihe River Basin, China

In recent years, because of the continuous heavy rainfall, the Huaihe River Basin in China is often flooded, which makes some problems are reflected. Because of the social transition segmentation, people always have a onesided view of the problem, so the starting point of this enlargement of the vision from a macro point of view to identify the problem, and then subdivided into individual paragraphs to solve the problem. Because the Huaihe River Basin is at the climatic boundary and may encounter droughts and floods, it is designed with the function of saving water, so that the water source can be adjusted when the dry season comes. The upstream, midstream, and downstream areas are each designed according to local problems, such as a fish science park in the upstream, a redistribution of functional areas in the midstream, and a bird conservation park in the Red Forest in the downstream. It is hoped that this will alleviate the problems encountered in the event of flooding.

TIME: 10/2022-11/2023 Individual work

Location: Shenzhen,China Coursework

The positioning of this design is HUI brand new retail narrative commercial space design. Women and intangible cultural heritage are extracted from HUI. Because this design focuses on narrative expression, we designed 5 nodes to create. In the space, because of the brand character of HUI, we integrated elements of intangible cultural heritage, such as: Nüshu, butterfly mother, and set up a display area of intangible cultural heritage. With modern methods, we interpret the non-heritage culture, and let the national brand enter the trend of the times.
