ozemanites love their dogs. Friendly Fidos are everywhere around these parts, from hiking trails to sidewalks while their owners are in stores and restaurants up and down Main Street. Nearly wherever you go, water bowls are readily available, as are bowls of dog treats at checkout counters. Yes, Bozemanites love their dogs.

For the time being, veterinarians are advising dog owners to steer their canine friends away from areas with high dog density — such as dog parks — until a particularly nasty strain of kennel cough that hit the area last month recedes more fully. That day, of course, will come sooner rather than later. And when it does, the city’s seven off-leash dog parks will once again be a bustling social hub for canines and their humans alike.

Bozeman Pond Park 550 S. Fowler Ave. Amenities include a fenced-in dog park where well-behaved dogs are permitted to be off-leash, garbage cans for disposing bagged dog waste, a dog water fountain, picnic pavilion, basketball hoops, volleyball court, horseshoe pit, a beach, fishing, restrooms.

Burke Park, aka “Peets Hill” S. Church Avenue at E. Story Street Amenities include a fenced-in dog park where well-behaved dogs are permitted to be off-leash, garbage cans for disposing bagged dog waste, restroom, and a gorgeous panoramic view of the region.

Centennial Park N. Tracy Avenue near W. Cottonwood Street Amenities include a fenced-in dog park where wellbehaved dogs are permitted to be off-leash, garbage cans for disposing bagged dog waste, a people-only sand beach, and a playground. Cooper Park S. 8th Avenue & W. Koch St. Amenities include a fenced-in dog park where well-behaved dogs are permitted to be off-leash, garbage cans for disposing bagged dog waste, and a dog water fountain. Gallatin County Regional Park W. Oak Street near Davis Street Amenities include a fenced-in dog park where well-behaved dogs are permitted to be off-leash, garbage cans for disposing bagged dog waste, a people-only sand beach, park benches, several ponds including one with a canine diving platform, a playground and restrooms.
