SOLAR DECATHLON EUROPE TEAM TECHSTYLE HAUS 2012-2014
Over the past two years I have been a team member of the Solar Decathlon 2014 entry, Techstyle Haus. Techstyle Haus is a collaborative design project between three cross-continental institutions: Brown University, the Rhode Island School of Design, and the University of Applied Sciences in Erfurt, Germany. theatre.

Structural Wall Detailing of Original Design Summer 2013

Many different versions of the house have existed over the course of the two years, but the main innovative concept has remained the same. The house is designed to Passivhaus standards, with the walls composed of an interior and exterior high perfomance textile. Throughout the two years I have played many roles in the project, including fundraiser, communications director and furniture builder, but my most significant role was that of structural engineer. This gave me the opportunity to test my classroom knowledge, get an understanding for the challenges of tensile structures as well as work with professional engineers.

Varying Unit Plans Fall 2014
Urban Design Principles is the third and final mandetory architecture studio in the Rhode Island School of Design curriculum. The focus of this course is to design a housing complex that fits within a specific urban context, in this case, it is the low-rise neighborhood of East Boston. The challenge was to accomplish clarity throughout the many different scales of design. This ranged from the interior layout of the individual unit plans, all the way to the manner in which our design intended to connect the city-scape, despite the harsh bisecting nature of our site.

A large portion of the semester was about learning how to properly display and communicate your ideas both visiaully aswell as verbally. The above example shows the view of a pedestrian walking through the ground level of the complex, communicating a detailed perspective of the design, whereas the display on the right diagramatically explains the four big moves that formed the overarching shape of the complex.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIO PROVIDENCE NATATORIUM SPRING 2012
The Providence Natatorium project focused on the design of a public swimming pool arena with specific size and programattic guidelines, while teaching students to effectively and efficiently create flow within a space.

This studio introduced the idea of working at different metric scales in model form, starting with a less-detailed 1/6th scale model all the way to a specific, intricate 1/4 scale section.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIO ARCHITECTURE OF EARTH SPRING 2013
Architecture of Earth focused on developing an understanding of the balance point of an object and the importance of subtraction as a tool of creating space. Spinning Centroid Model Spring 2013
By twisting the length of the extended rays, I was able to create a central core, with the balance point at its center point.

The final intention was to create a space for a dancer, the three-dimensional design being an spacial interpretation of a line and plane charcoal drawing.
FURNITURE & INDUSTRIAL DESIGN WOOD & METAL 2009-2014
RISD Furniture highly values the ability to use a variety of building techniques to produce a piece. The completed stool of the Solidworks rendering required CNC cutting, veneer vacuum packing, and routing.

Using recycled materials was a large part of the Brown University Design Studio course. The Pagoda Coffee Table uses a hollow recycled door as its top with scrap plywood pieces forming the legs. My pieces during high school focused on combining forms of technology and giving back to the community, while mastering the art of welding. The frames of the lounge chair are all held at a firmly welded pivot point at the base of the seat, and the welded arch sign was my senior donation to a local urban gardening non-profit in my high school neighborhood.
