Aaron Neville he Spirit of New Orleans is marked by an undying hope. Over the past five decades, Aaron Neville has captured that hometown spirit, first as part of the dynastic Neville Brothers, then on his own soulful and esteemed solo career. From the ground-breaking soul anthems of the 60’s (“Tell It Like It Is”) to the percolating funk of the 70’s (“Hercules”) and the soaring balladry of the end of the millennium (“Don’t Know Much”) Neville continues to capture this essence and spirit through his adventurous solo work. He will release his new record, produced by Soulive’s Eric Krasno, Fall of 2015.

Acoustic Alchemy riple Grammy nominated artists Acoustic Alchemy are fast approaching their 30th anniversary of recording since 1987’s Red Dust and Spanish Lace established the ensemble as an ever evolving force in contemporary jazz. Their thousands of fans around the world may be feeling nostalgic, but the band, while keeping their trademark acoustic guitar synergy front and center, is clearly committed to forging ahead. Greg Carmichael explains the energy is the result of a natural chemistry he’s developed with Miles Gilderdale over the years and a permanent band of the highest quality.

Alan Doyle rom a small fishing village in Newfoundland, Alan Doyle has always loved the spotlight, a passion that led him to front noted Canadian band Great Big Sea for two decades and to become an actor, producer, and newly minted best-selling author. The recently released album, So Let’s Go, continues to cement Alan Doyle’s reputation as one of Canada’s most treasured musicians and storytellers. Alan’s live show continues in the tradition of what he began with Great Big Sea, a raucous celebration of camaraderie and songs, both new and old. “I always want people to have the greatest night of their life when the house lights go down.”

Alejandro Escovedo can take a punch, I can take a swing,” sings Alejandro Escovedo on “Man of the World,” the opening salvo of Big Station, his latest album on Fantasy Records. The two phrases well describe his 35 years as a musician and two decades as a solo artist, the sum of which attests to the redemptive power of rock’n’roll and the driving role that it has played in his life and art.

A stylistic synthesist who Rolling Stone notes, “is in his own genre,” Escovedo cast his widest musical net to date on Big Station. The title can infer two meanings: A transit junction where journeys converge and then head off to new destinations, and a potent radio signal with an open playlist that brims with diversity and adventurous imagination.

amy helm my Helm’s deep musical roots were enriched by a lifetime of exposure to the finest expressions of American musical tradition.

As the daughter of music legend Levon Helm, Amy wields a powerful voice that can both stir and soothe, whether she is singing traditional gospel, blues standards or her own heartfelt compositions. She is a gifted musician on both mandolin and drums, and has clearly absorbed the lessons of the many other accomplished artists with whom she has shared stages, including Mavis Staples, Emmylou Harris, Dr. John and Roger Waters. Amy released her long awaited solo debut, Didn’t It Rain, in July of 2015.

Ana Popovic he award-winning, hard-touring, guitarist/vocalist blends smoking electric funk, slide guitar, jazzy instrumentals and a tight blues groove with soul. Add to this mix Ana’s incredible stage presence and you have an irresistible force in the world of contemporary blues music. ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons recently was quoted “..and what about Ana Popovic? She’s from Serbia but rocks the blues in fine, fine fashion.”

Ana was added to the 2014 ‘all-star’ Experience Hendrix lineup w/ Billy Cox, Buddy Guy, Jonny Lang plus Zakk Wylde to name a few of the world renown artists. She’s nominated for five Blues Music Awards, appeared on the cover of Vintage Guitar and Guitar Player. Her albums ‘Can You Stand The Heat’ and ‘Unconditional’ were Pick Of The Week by USA Today and featured on NPR Music. 6

Antibalas •First quarter 2015 CAMI Tour with Zap Mama. • Members of Antibalas served as musical directors and the house band in the Broadway hit FELA! • The group has performed everywhere from Central Park to Carnegie Hall to Rikers Island Prison, and that’s just in New York. •House band for the David Byrne celebration at Carnegie Hall. • Recently collaborated / performed with David Byrne, Mark Ronson, The Roots, String Cheese Incident, My Morning Jacket, Iron and Wine, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and TV on the Radio. 8

Behind the Lens ehind the Lens is a live photography exhibition presented by the photographers themselves as they share their amazing stories and iconic images with audiences nationwide. The first in this series features two photographers. Henry Diltz is considered one of the greatest music photographers of the last century with over 400,000 images in his archive and over 400 album covers to his name. Pattie Boyd is the “Queen of the Sixties” and the inspiration for the timeless love songs ‘Something’, ‘Layla’ and ‘Wonderful Tonight.’ Boyd became an acclaimed photographer with her intimate and revealing photographs of George Harrison, the Beatles and Eric Clapton among others.

Bill Frisell he Wall Street Journal says revered guitarist, composer and Grammy winner Bill Frisell is “the most innovative and influential jazz guitarist of the past 25 years.” The New York Times proclaims “it’s hard to find a more fruitful meditation on American music than in the compositions of guitarist Bill Frisell.” With over 250 recordings (including over 40 of his own), Frisell is recognized as one of America’s most vital and productive performing artists. He is a 13-time Best Guitarist winner in the DownBeat Critics Poll, a 5-time Guitarist of the Year at the Jazz Awards and former Resident Artistic Director for SF Jazz and Guest Curator for the Roots of Americana series at Jazz at Lincoln Center. He has collaborated with artists as diverse as Bono, Paul Simon, Bonnie Raitt, Elvis Costello, Ornette Coleman, McCoy Tyner, and recent performances have included the Newport Jazz Festival, Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival, the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Benaroya Hall in Seattle, among many others. The Blind Boys of Alabama escribed as ‘James Brown does gospel’, The Blind Boys of Alabama are recognized worldwide as true living legends of Gospel music. Celebrated by both The Grammy Foundation and The National Endowment for the Arts with Lifetime Achievement Awards, inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and winners of five Grammy Awards, they have attained the highest levels of recognition for a career that spans over 60 years. The Blind Boys have made appearances on The Tonight Show, The Grammy Awards, 60 Minutes, The Colbert Report, their own PBS special and are the subject of the 2015 documentary film How Sweet The Sound – an intimate portrait of the band shot over the course of 10 years. In addition for 2016, the Blind Boys will once again embark on their annual Christmas tour. In the show, the Blind Boys present holiday standards from their Grammy winning 2004 Go Tell It On The Mountain and 2014 Talkin’ Christmas albums. The holiday tour debuted in 2003 and has included sellout shows at such prestigious venues as Benaroya Hall in Seattle, Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, and Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles among others.

buddy guy Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee who has influenced countless icons, Buddy Guy is “the real deal.” A pioneer of Chicago’s fabled West Side sound and a living link to the city’s halcyon days of electric blues, Buddy has received 6 GRAMMY Awards, a 2015 Lifetime Achievement GRAMMY Award, a record 34 Blues Music Awards, and Billboard Magazine’s “Century Award” for distinguished artistic achievement. He is a Kennedy Center Honoree and has received the Presidential National Medal of Arts. Rolling Stone Magazine ranks him #23 in its “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.”

Charles Bradley ommonly referred to as “The Screaming Eagle of Soul,” Bradley is a funk/soul/R&B singer on Daptone Records and one of the highest profiled live acts of the last decade. He is the subject of the acclaimed documentary, Charles Bradley: The Soul of America. The film captures the incredible late-in-life rise of the singer, whose unprecedented debut album rocketed him from a hard life in the projects to Rolling Stone’s Top 50 Albums of 2011. Bradley’s third album is due out in first quarter of 2016, although his live performances are where he truly shines. His dynamic stage presence channels soul greats like James Brown, Curtis Mayfield and Otis Redding.

Charlie Musselwhite w

ith an induction into the Blues Music Hall of Fame, 36 Blues Music Awards (including Best Instrumentalist - Harmonica in 2015!) and 11 Grammy nominations (including a 2014 win and 2015 nomination!), American electric blues harmonica master and bandleader Charlie Musselwhite has truly earned legendary status as one of blues music’s most important artists. Musselwhite recently teamed up with Ben Harper on “Get Up!” - the long time coming collaboration that took home the Grammy for Best Blues Album in 2014 and is currently touring behind his own live CD “I Ain’t Lyin’”. In 2016/2017, Charlie will be celebrating the 50th anniversary (and re-release) of his legendary debut album Stand Back!, the record that helped introduce Musselwhite as a musical force in the blues and over time secured his reputation as one of the best harmonica players ever.

cherry poppin’ daddies F ormed in 1989 and best known for their hit Zoot Suit Riot, the Cherry Poppin Daddies are currently touring two distinctly unique shows; “Cherry Poppin’ Daddies Celebrate the Music of the Rat Pack” and “Return the Evening - a Nod to 1920’s Prohibition Era Swing.” Their impressive range makes them a hit with colleges, festivals, and performing arts centers alike.

The Daddies will be debuting songs from their upcoming (late 2105) album The Boop-A-Doo, the second album of a planned trilogy of cover tunes designed to outline some of the their swing influences. The Boop-A-Doo covers a much earlier era than Please Return the Evening, songs that might have had their birth at the Cotton Club during the Prohibition era. Tenor banjo driven tunes like: Let’s Misbehave, 42nd Street, and Top Hat showcase the band’s versatility and playing chops. 16

Dirty Dozen Brass Band S ince 1977, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band has evolved into a world famous music machine, whose name is synonymous with genre-bending romps and high-octane performances. They revitalized and popularized the brass band culture in New Orleans and around the world, progressing from rent parties to touring nearly constantly in the U.S. and around the globe. Disney’s Choo-Choo Soul with Genevieve isney’s Choo-Choo Soul began as an interstitial musical program airing daily on the Disney Channel and Disney Junior. The videos star Genevieve Goings as the Train Conductor, assisted by Constantine “DC” Abramson, her beatboxing and break-dancing engineer. The music is contagious and soulful, with a focus on learning.

Genevieve is also the voice of the Disney Junior Hour on Radio Disney as well as the spokesperson for Disney’s “Give a Book Get a Book” campaign. Production is beyond simple and with Genevieve and DC you also get two of the most generous performers around – eager to meet and greet the audience after the show.

Doyle Bramhall II oyle Bramhall II stands as one of the most distinctive vocalists, guitarists, composers and producers in contemporary music. Eric Clapton, with whom Bramhall II has collaborated for more than a decade, cites the guitarist as one of the most gifted players he has ever encountered.

Bramhall II has been in demand as a composer, guitarist and producer, collaborating with such artists as Roger Waters, Sheryl Crow, Tedeschi Trucks, Elton John, Questlove, Gary Clark Jr., Erykah Badu, Gregg Allman, Robert Randolph, T-Bone Burnett, Meshell Ndegeocello, Dr. John and many others. Bramhall has produced several records, including Crow’s popular 100 Miles From Memphis. Summer of 2014 had Doyle supporting “Wheels Of Soul” tour with Sharon Jones and Tedeschi Trucks Band.

Eileen Ivers ileen Ivers will change the way you think about the violin. She has established herself as the pre-eminent exponent of the Irish fiddle in the world today. Eileen has been called a “sensation” by Billboard magazine and “the Jimi Hendrix of the violin” by The New York Times. “She electrifies the crowd with a dazzling show of virtuoso playing,” says The Irish Times.

fourplay or two decades, the contemporary jazz quartet known as Fourplay has enjoyed consistent artistic and commercial success by grafting elements of R&B, pop and a variety of other sounds to their unwavering jazz foundations. In the course of a dozen recordings - six of which have climbed to the top of Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Album charts - the supergroup (Bob James, Nathan East, Chuck Loeb, & Harvey Mason) has continued to explore the limitless dimensions and permutations of jazz while at the same time appealing to a broad mainstream audience.

or the past eight years, Boston’s rising stars Girls Guns and Glory has been making a name for themselves through relentless touring (about 200 gigs a year worldwide), the release of four critically acclaimed records, a slew of local awards, including being the Boston Music Awards first act of its genre to win Act of the Year, and international awards (Independent Artist of the Year at the French Country Music Awards). Imagine a younger version of The Mavericks steeped in early Dwight Yoakam and you’ve got Girls Guns and Glory.

Gurrumul grew up as a member of the Gumatj clan on Elcho Island, off the coast of tropical North East Arnhemland. heritage blues Orchestra asterfully combining elements that draw from the full spectrum of blues, jazz and gospel, a HBO performance is an inspiring testament to the enduring power and beauty of African American music. With their 2013 debut CD And Still I Rise, HBO claimed their first Grammy nomination as well as the 2013 Living Blues Critics Award for Best Debut Album. HBO are available in several different configurations, from quartet to the full 9-piece ensemble. Watch for their highly anticipated follow-up CD in 2016.

mavis Jamesstaples Hunter ames Hunter is a Grammy-nominated English R&B musician and soul singer. Hunter’s voice is smooth, brilliantly controlled and unapologetic, harkening to the days of classic Rhythm & Blues. Through his infectious vocals and guitar, clever songwriting and tight horn arrangements, Hunter proves his impeccable taste and that he has learned from his influences rather than simply imitated them.

mavis Jessestaples Cook esse Cook is an internationally renowned guitarist, composer and producer. Widely considered one of the most influential figures in Nouveau Flamenco music, he incorporates elements of rumba, jazz and world music into his work. He is the winner of one Juno Award and has been nominated 11 times.

Cook released his ninth studio album, One World in April 2015. One World begins another chapter in the multi-tasking artist, composer and producers quest. To create the disc’s emotive melodies, fluid grooves and rich sonic tapestries, he incorporated technology more than ever before resulting in the most sonically diverse and distinctive disc in Cook’s vast and varied catalogue. Jesse will be traversing North America for the better part of 2016-17 with his four piece backing band in support of One World as well as two PBS pledge break specials ("Blue Guitar Sessions" and "Live at the Bathurst"). 30


Jimmie Vaughan & The Tilt-A-Whirl Band Featuring Lou Ann Barton

s a founding member of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jimmie Vaughan has been one of the leading Texas guitarists since the late ‘70s. From the GRAMMY Award for Best Contemporary Blues Recording on Family Style with brother, Stevie Ray Vaughan, to the Tilt-A-Whirl Band with Lou Ann Barton, Vaughan provides a vital link between contemporary music and his style of Texas Blues.

A

Vaughan accepted and performed at the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame induction of SRV and appeared on the Austin, TX episode of The Foo Fighters’ HBO Special Sonic Highways. He was also named one of the Texas State Musicians for the year of 2015, along with Joe Ely.

John mavisMayall staples he career of John Mayall - legendary British blues singer, songwriter, and multi­-instrumentalist - spans over fifty years. In the ‘60s, he founded John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, a group that included Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Peter Green, Christine McVie, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood and Mick Taylor. With over sixty albums, the freshness of Mayall’s music and energy could be envied by musicians two generations younger. In 2005, Mayall was the recipient of one of the United Kingdom’s greatest honors - Officer of the Order of the British Empire.

September, 2015 brings a brilliant new studio album Find a Way to Care, produced by John Mayall and Eric Corne at the famed House of Blues Studios. As always he is accompanied by his long time band featuring Rocky Athas on guitar, Greg Rzab on bass guitar and Jay Davenport on drums. 32


mavis Jonny staples Lang here are few artists who can claim to be touring veterans over half their lives, and only one who can make that claim under the age of thirty, but then there’s only one Jonny Lang. Sixteen years ago, at the age of 16, he found incredible success with the release of his major label debut album Lie To Me.

On any given night, sweat-drenched crowds at a Lang performance are likely to hear shades of R&B, soul, gospel, hard rock, funk and blues. All of it packed in a high-octane guitar and vocal attack from an artist who has covered countless miles since his teenage years, and continues to explore new horizons with enthusiasm. Jonny Lang released his seventh album, Fight For My Soul, in 2013 which reached #1 on Billboard’s Blues Chart. He has five albums that charted on the top 50 of the Billboard 200 Chart and has won a Grammy Award for Turn Around. He has shared the stage with The Rolling Stones, B.B. King, Aerosmith, Sting, and Buddy Guy, who he continues to tour with today.

mavis Keb’staples Mo’ t’s been a diverse and award-winning year for singer, songwriter, guitarist and modern day Blues and Americana artist Keb’ Mo’. Though he is a multiple GRAMMY award-winning artist, his latest acclaimed album, BLUESAmericana, accomplished a career first; three GRAMMY nominations and the honor of being awarded the Blues Music Association’s Best Contemporary Blues Album of 2015. The honor marked his 11th Blues Music Award, however, it was his first in 13 years.

Leftover mavis staples Salmon ooking back over the past 25 years of rootsy, string-based music, the impact of Leftover Salmon is impossible to deny. Formed in Boulder at the end of 1989, the Colorado slamgrass pioneers were one of the first bluegrass bands to add drums and tour rock & roll bars, helping Salmon become a pillar of the jam band scene and unwitting architects of the "jam grass" genre. They will release The New Orleans Sessions in early 2016, the follow up to the band’s hugely successful 1999s Nashville Sessions.

mavis Losstaples Lobos os Lobos were already East L.A. neighborhood legends, Sunset Strip regulars and a Grammy Award winning band (Best Mexican-American/Tejano Music Performance) by the time they recorded their major label debut How Will The Wolf Survive? in 1984. From their beginnings in East LA over four decades ago, Los Lobos have become an iconic American rock band, always creatively adventurous in the studio and still one of the most exciting live performing groups anywhere. The band will release a new record in fall of 2015.

Los mavis Lonelystaples Boys os Lonely Boys is an American rock power trio from San Angelo, Texas. They play a style of music they call "Texican Rock n’ Roll," combining elements of rock and roll, Texas blues, brown-eyed soul, country, and Tejano. Three brothers emerged as a group in Nashville in the 1990s. After moving back to their home state of Texas, they recorded an album in 2003 at Willie Nelson’s Pedernales recording studio in Austin. The group’s first single Heaven, reached No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart and earned them a GRAMMY. In early 2014 Los Lonely Boys released their fifth studio album, Revelation.

Lukasstaples Nelson mavis ukas Nelson and his band P.O.T.R. (Promise of the Real) are an American rock n roll group based in California. Lukas first picked up the guitar at age 11 to honor a promise he made to his father (Willie Nelson) and was able to teach himself the craft by playing along to classic Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix songs. Now at age 27, Lukas is building his following the old fashioned way by touring year round and delivering high-energy performances to fans across the country. Alongside the family group she is so identified with, the Staple Singers, Mavis has been the solid rock of American music for six decades. Mavis is a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee, National Heritage Fellowship award winner, and was featured on Rolling Stone’s Greatest Singers of All Time and VH1’s list of Greatest Women of Rock and Roll. She is both a Lifetime Grammy Award recipient and Grammy Award winner for You Are Not Alone (Best Americana Album). The full length documentary about her extraordinary life, Mavis!, is screening at film festivals now and will air on HBO in early 2016 in conjunction with the release of her new CD. Mavis has been embraced by the younger generation of musicians as well and recently shared the stage with Arcade Fire, Wilco/Tweedy, Mumford & Sons, Alabama Shakes, Jack White, The Decemberists, Lake Street Dive, among others…and performed on recent nationally televised concert tributes honoring Paul McCartney, Al Green and Bruce Springsteen.

His compositions, including the blues standard "Born Under A Bad Sign", have been recorded by Cream, Etta James, Rod Stewart, Billy Idol, Carole King and Warren Haynes, and his work has been sampled by hip hop’s biggest stars, including Kanye West and Ludacris. His recent performances include "In Performance At The White House: Memphis Soul" on PBS, Lincoln Center in New York and "Jools Holland’s Annual Hootenanny" in London, performing a duet with Joss Stone. He stars in the award winning Memphis soul documentary "Take Me To The River” (2014), including a performance with Snoop Dogg. In early 2016, William returns with his first major label album in 30 years, helmed by Grammy winning producer John Leventhal (Rosanne Cash, Shawn Colvin) and released by Stax/Concord.
