Adrianique Williams Day Friday May 23, 2008 a special assembly was held in honour of grade 6 student Adrianique Williams in recognition of her stellar performance at the 2008 Primary School Association’s Student of the Year Awards. Adrianique was one of 30 students from around The Bahamas who placed in the semi finals and as a result won a $1000.00 scholarship and beautiful trophies. At this special assembly, students and teachers from the kindergarten and the primary grades gave special tributes to Adrianique in song, dance, poems, chants, cards, gifts and monetary tokens. It was a spectacular day! Now its official May 23, 2008 was officially Adrianique Williams Day at Bread Of Life Christian Academy.

OUR STATEMENT OF BELIEF We believe that: • All children have the potential and capacity to learn. • Students should be encouraged to become independent thinkers, • Students should have hands on learning experiences and participate in activities which stimulate them to learn about themselves and their world. • The Bible is the inspired word of God, our guide book for life.

Parents Always Take The Time Parents always take the time, To make your heart feel light, With words like “I’m so proud of you,” Or “Things will be all right.” Parents always take the time, To let you dare new things. To whisper. “You can do it!” And then let you try your wings.

OUR VISION STATEMENT Our vision is that students, parents, and staff members find Bread of Life Christian Academy to be a place of realized potential in thought, inspiration, insight and wisdom both individually and corporately.

Parents always take the time, And goes to any length, To share their gifts of truth and trust, And gentleness and strength.

OUR PURPOSE The purpose of Bread Of Life Christian Academy is: • To provide a Christ-centered education of academic excellence. • To provide a Learning environment in which children are given respect and worth, and treated as persons created in the image of God, without respect for race, colour or sex. • To provide an educational program that will promote an understanding of and appreciation for the word of God. • To provide educational facilities and staff that shall meet Ministry of Education regulations as long as there is no scriptural violation or inconsistency. • To provide opportunities for parental involvement input and support of the school • To promote a Christ-centered parent supported academic education to our community as a positive alternative in a society where family relational and spiritual values keep disintegrating.

Parents always take the time. Throughout their hectic days. To make a difference in your life, In loving lasting ways.

OUR COMMITMENT At Bread Of Life Christian Academy: • We will always uphold God’s word. • We will maintain Godly principles at all times. • We will engage in activities which will bring glory to the Kingdom of God and or the name of God. • We will do all within our power to positively impact the lives of as many persons as possible by the practical demonstration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. • We will by the grace of God endeavour to encourage/foster spiritual growth and academic excellence.

Message From The P. T. A. President

Ms. Michelle McDonald Bread of Life Christian Academy has had an exciting 2007 — 2008 school year providing the best care giving, academic and holistic skills for our students.

GRADE 2 Mrs. Johnson Ms. Ward (in photo)

Once again the year was filled with activities which proved to be a success due to the involvement of our Parents, Teacher, Students and even friends. They all contributed and got involved from beginning to end. We commenced with our fund raising Thanksgiving Luncheon followed by the Annual Christmas Program. These paved the way for the enjoyment of our first ever Prayer Breakfast held for our Parents, Teachers and Students in appreciation for all they had done over the years. The Church Service & Luncheon in honor of Mrs. McKenzie’s birthday was also a success. The Minister of Education graced us with his presence and he acknowledged the work of Mrs. McKenzie and the Staff of Bread of Life. He also pledged his help in assisting with the growth of the school, whenever possible, thus giving a positive outlook for the future of this school. Fun Days, Valentines Day etc., were enjoyed by our students and they were very successful. We celebrated Commonwealth Day which gave our students an opportunity to learn about other places around our country. The Students attended the National Spelling Bee and gave their best and we look forward to their attending next year’s competition. This year’s Sports Day was held away from the school and was enjoyed by all participants, parents, students and staff. The school’s inter-grade Spelling Bee, as always, was exciting. I applaud all the students who took part as well as the teachers and parents who prepared and supported them. The excitement of having our Head Girl being chosen first as a nominee and then a semi-finalist in the National Primary School Student of the Year ceremony was quite an accomplishment and an honor for BOLCA. Congratulations to her and her family as well as the staff of BOLCA. Teachers Appreciation Week was well received, supported and enjoyed by our students, parents, and of course, our Teachers. The Cook-Out event was an overwhelming success. We are encouraged about our plans for next year. The graduation events and this years two in one Graduation Ceremony for K-4, K-5 and Grade 6 sporting the theme “Equipped to Conquer New Challenges” will have the same excitement as our earlier school events.

GRADE 3 Ms. Pinder

I would like to say “Hats Off’ to the staff who organized these events and our parents who participated and supported them. These would not have been successful without them. We look forward more successful and enjoyable times next year as we care, teach, and come together, leaving lasting impressions on one and all. Words cannot express my gratitude of thanks for the support that I received from staff, and parents in overcoming challenges and achieving accomplishments throughout the year. I would like to wish God’s Blessings on our Director, our hardworking, dedicated and supportive nursery caregivers, teachers, staff, students and parents for their commitment to the betterment of BOLCA and look forward to being apart of the school’s growth and advancement in the coming year as we all continue to make BOLCA...

“STANDING ON THE PROMISES” Standing on the promises of Christ my King Through eternal ages let His praises ring Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing Standing on the promises of God. Standing, standing, Standing on the promises of God my Saviour Standing, Standing I am standing on the promises of God. Standing on the promises that cannot fail When the howling storms of doubt and fears assail By the living Word of God I shall prevail Standing on the promises of God.

Marlon Ziona Utile

“MY LIFE IS IN YOUR HANDS” You don't have to worry And don't you be afraid Joy comes in the morning Troubles they don't last always For there's a friend named Jesus Who will wipe your tears away And if your heart is broken Just lift your hands and say I know that I can make it I know that I can stand No matter what may come my way My life is in your hands You don't have to worry And don't you be afraid Joy comes in the morning Troubles they don't last always For there's a friend named Jesus Who will wipe your tears away And if your heart is broken Just lift your hands and say I know that I can make it I know that I can stand No matter what may come my way My life is in your hands

With Jesus I can take it With Him, I know I can stand No matter what may come my way My life is in your hands So when your tests and trials They seem to get you down And all your friends and loved ones Are nowhere to be found Remember there's a friend named Jesus Who will wipe your tears away And if your heart is broken Just lift your hands and say I know that I can make it I know that I can stand No matter what may come my way My life is in your hands With Jesus I can take it With Him, I know I can stand No matter what may come my way My life is in your hands

Words of Encouragement TRIBUTES FROM TEACHERS & STAFF OF B. O. L. C. A. Time has come to say farewell to both primary and preschool. Congratulations on this milestone! Remember that the road to success is not straight… There is a curve called failure; a loop called confusion, speed bumps called friends and red lights called enemies; BUT if you have a spare called DETERMINATION, an engine called FAITH, and a driver called JESUS, you will make it to a place called SUCCESS. Be the best that you can and remember God listens to our prayers. Whenever you need Him, just call His name and He’ll be there for you. Psalm 116:1-2 says “I love the Lord, because He hath heard my voice and my supplication, because He hath inclined His ear unto me, therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live”. - Mrs. Sinclair — K3 I taught you to respect yourselves, I’ve taught you to believe in yourselves, and I’ve taught you to work hard to bring out the winner in you. Now it’s time to put into practice what you’ve learnt. If you find that life gets challenging — and it will, if you find that some people don’t care — and some will, and if you find that there are only a few who support you — and there will be; remember that I’ve taught you how to be a WINNER in spite of it all. If the adage “we get from people what we expect from them is true,” then I’m expecting all of you to make me proud and make an indelible mark on this nation right where you are, God being your helper each step of the way. - Mrs. K. Seymour — Grade 6 To the graduating class of 2008 — May God continue to lead, guide and protect you as move forward and continue to progress. All The Best! - Ms. Neely — Toddlers

Graduates, as you move on, I entreat with you to believe firmly in yourself that you will succeed and do all that is necessary to take you to higher heights. Congratulations class of 2008 for a job well done. Keep up the great work! Love Always! - Mrs. R. Jardine — Janitorial Staff I’ve only known you for a couple of months but from what I’ve seen you are a group of intelligent, strong and promising young people. I wish you the best in everything you do and I pray that you will put God first in all that you set your minds to do.
