What is Alpha?
15 Talks on Alpha
The Alpha Course is a 15 session, ten-week, practical introduction to the Christian faith.
•
A = Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith can be invited on the course designed for non church-goers and new Christians. It can also be used as a refresher course for mature Christians. L = Learning and laughter.
Alpha is based around a series of fifteen talks, which tackle the key questions at the heart of the Christian Faith. Laughter and fun are key to the course, breaking down barriers and enabling everyone to relax together.
P = Pasta/Pizza/Peas ‘n Rice.
An opportunity to eat together gives people the chance to get to know each other and to develop Christian friendships in a welcoming environment.
H = Helping one another.
The small groups give each person a chance to participate and help each other along the way, as they discuss, study the Bible and pray for each other. For many of the participants, this sharing and helping was the key element of the course.
A = Ask anything.
Alpha is a place where no question is regarded as too simple or too hostile. People are given a chance to raise their questions and discuss relevant topics in small groups after the talk.
