Texas Farah O’Keefe Wins White Weekly Texas Girls’ Invitational Bass Gas Prices (February 21, 2022) - Texas gas prices have risen 4.0 cents per gallon in the past week, a v e r a g i n g $ 3 . 1 9 / g t o d a y, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Gas prices in Texas are 21.2 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 88.3 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Texas is priced at $2.39/g today while the most expensive is $3.89/g, a difference of $1.50/g. The lowest price in the state today is $2.39/g while the highest is $3.89/g, a difference of $1.50/g. The national average price of gasoline has risen 3.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.52/g today. The national average is up 20.7 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 88.9 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. Historical gasoline prices in Texas and the national average going back ten years: February 21, 2021: $2.31/g (U.S. Average: $2.63/g) February 21, 2020: $2.16/g (U.S. Average: $2.48/g) February 21, 2019: $2.12/g (U.S. Average: $2.40/g) February 21, 2018: $2.27/g (U.S. Average: $2.52/g) February 21, 2017: $2.07/g (U.S. Average: $2.28/g) February 21, 2016: $1.51/g (U.S. Average: $1.71/g) February 21, 2015: $2.11/g (U.S. Average: $2.28/g) February 21, 2014: $3.19/g (U.S. Average: $3.38/g) February 21, 2013: $3.64/g (U.S. Average: $3.78/g) February 21, 2012: $3.47/g (U.S. Average: $3.57/g) Neighboring areas and their current gas prices: Midland Odessa- $3.22/g, down 8.8 cents per gallon from last week's $3.31/g. San Antonio- $3.04/g, down 4.3 cents per gallon from last week's $3.09/g. Austin- $3.10/g, down 1.6 cents per gallon from last week's $3.11/g. "With tensions still very high that Russia may invade Ukraine, gasoline prices kept moving higher, tugged by the rising price of oil as the market concentrates on possible outcomes from the situation that could affect global oil production amidst recovering demand," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy. "However, with nuclear talks between Iran and global powers ongoing in Vienna, the possibility exists that a new deal could bring Iran's crude oil supply back to legitimate markets, helping to ease a slight portion of supply concerns. While the proposition remains in the air for the time being, we're also just a few weeks away from the traditional start of the spring surge in gasoline prices, brought on by the change to summer gasoline, seasonal maintenance at refineries and rising demand. The weeks ahead could be rather ugly with rising prices, especially if Russia pursues a strong-arm invasion of Ukraine." SOURCE GasBuddy

Following closely behind in 8th place with 12.06 were Jack Haag and Jackson Wilkerson. Our third best Team was made up of Blake Gatewood and Hayden Janisch with 11.41 pounds, placing them in 11th overall. Many of the High Finishers reported a good bite on a myriad of Soft

Green Pumpkin was a good choice, in either Creature styled baits like a Strike King Rage Craw or Rodent. Also scoring well for the Team were soft stick

baits such as 5 & 6 inch Ochos, as well as straight tail worms on the shaky heads. Chatterbaits also saw some good action as well. While disappointed, the Team has nothing to hang their heads about, as they earned 99 out of 100 points

AUSTIN – Anglers across the state look forward to hitting the water each spring for the annual white bass spawning run upstream from reservoirs into rivers and creeks. Whether it be fishing on the bank, motorized boat, or paddle craft, the white bass run can provide an exciting day on the water for new and seasoned anglers alike. “The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has received reports that some anglers have started catching white bass since the beginning of February, but the main spawning run does not really get going until water temperatures and flows are just right,” said John Botros, TPWD’s Inland Fisheries River Access Coordinator. “Some good rains this spring would trigger abundant white bass spawning runs. Anglers should make plans to target this species in rivers and creeks upstream of many of our reservoirs from now until early May.” White bass, also known as sand bass, are a popular freshwater species preferred by Texas anglers both for sport fishing and for the dinner table. While most riverside property is privately owned, public access to highquality white bass runs can be found at many Texas State Parks, Texas Paddling Trails, leased River Access and Conservation Area (RACA) sites and highway and bridge crossings. Here are a few locations to get started: C o l o r a d o River: Above Lake Buchanan, bank anglers can fish for white bass without a fishing license at Colorado Bend State Park. The park offers a boat ramp and bank access. San Gabriel River: Upstream of Granger Lake, anglers can find white bass fishing at a public access point called Dickerson’s Bottom, a.k.a. “The Steps” in the Granger Wildlife Management Area. This location can be found threequarters of a mile east of SH 95 on County Road 347 in Williamson County. N e c h e s River: Above Lake Palestine, anglers can find public access at Chandler River Park. This RACA site – also supported by the East Texas Woods and Waters Foundation – offers nearly 6,000 feet of river frontage for bank fishing and includes a boat ramp and kayak launch. Llano River: Access to the river is provided through the Kingsland Slab RV Camp with 750 feet of river frontage along the Llano River. This River Access and Conservation Area (RACA) site offers free public fishing access and is located at 7300 River Oaks Drive in Kingsland. S a b i n e River: Above Toledo Bend Reservoir, anglers can find public access for white bass fishing at the Grand Bluff Boat Ramp, which offers 275 feet of river frontage and a single trailer boat ramp. Suggestions for Mindful Eating: Hot for Soup

Food for Thought easy if you have canned tomatoes, some beans and small pasta. The coconut milk marries well to flavors Asian or African. These typically are bean less unless they use lentils as the star. First thing to do is sauté the aromatics. These always begin with onion, celery and carrots. Perhaps some garlic if you like it, and leeks or shallots, if you have them and consider some grated ginger (the fresh root) if going that direction, green pepper for Cajun. While you are sauteing add any tough veggies you are planning on using. I love to keep fennel in the crisper. I have found it lasts a long time and a few thin slices go well in salads and soups. It would need sautéing. Add some spices like cumin, coriander, pepper and some woody herbs like rosemary and thyme. Sauté these in oil or butter. Next, Add any flavorful bases. A can of tomato paste, or curry paste will give your soup depth and richness. There are some more exotic choices like Sambal (a spicy, chili-based sauce or relish that is popular in many countries across Southeast Asia) or harissa (a hot chile paste that is commonly found in North African cuisine, mainly Moroccan.) If you're ready to try out some harissa for yourself, most grocery stores carry harissa paste, and it's typically located on the global foods aisle near other sauces and condiments. Trader Joe's also sells a popular harissa. If you can't locate the paste in your local grocery store, you can order a jar from online. Add about one lb. of

vegetables, fresh or frozen. Corn, peas, cubed squash (especially zucchini), a can of tomatoes, green beans, potatoes, lima beans, cabbage is good – even bagged coleslaw mix). If you want to add small pasta, canned beans or maybe some protein like smoked sausage or even frozen shrimp wait until the last 10 minutes of simmering in the next step so they don’t get soggy. If using dried lentils add them now as they will take a full 30 minutes to cook. Pour in coconut milk. Refill that can with broth (or water) to match the amount of dried ingredients you used, add to the pot and bring to a simmer. You want the liquid to cover the vegetables by 3-4 inches. If you’re using lentils, they will soak up more liquid and need 4 cups stock to a pound and ½ of beans. As a hint, if you use water the “Better than Bullion” brand makes a Vegetable flavor that can give substance to plain water. Cook until your vegetables are tender, then blend them to your desired texture, season to taste, and top with anything that complements your flavors. Just before serving coarsely chop a handful of fresh herbs and green onion and stir into the soup. Never add fresh herbs at the start as all their flavor will be muddied and lost. If needs must think ahead and purchase several cartons or cans of soup for emergency meals. There are some tricks to improve on the canned stuff. Cans certainly equal convenience but with a few twists and turns you can make canned

for their 2nd place finish, while Tomball Memorial earned 100 points. Since MISD has 3 Tournament Victories, and one 2nd place finish, the Team still has the lead over Tomball Memorial for the Conference Crown by 4 points going into our Final Conference event at Lake Conroe on March the 12th. Speaking of March the 12th, the Team would love to see as many community members as possible come out and cheer them on at the weigh in at the MISD Stadium. All the festivities begin at 3:00 P. M . a n d n o r m a l l y conclude at 4:30 when weigh in concludes, and the winners are announced shortly thereafter.

So come on out to support these young men and women of the Highly Decorated MISD Fishing Team, as they vie for their 7th Conference Crown in 8 years of competing. Rumor has it that one of the main sponsors for the Team Rudy’s Barbecue, will be on site serving up some of their Brisket & Pulled Pork Sandwiches! This will be a special occasion, for 92 awesome students from both Lake Creek and Montgomery High Schools, where you know “Maximum Effort” will be put forth. We look forward to seeing you there!! There are so many practical reasons to have a working relationship with bringing together a pot of soup. It’s just the best thing to serve when guests linger and mealtime approaches, weather lunch or dinner. It can be ready in about 30 minutes and makes a delightful meal. Serve it with the humble saltine and all will be happy. When the number of people who might pop in is a mystery soup is the answer. 4, 6, 8? No problem. When the serving time is up in the air soup will wait patiently only getting better as the minutes tick by, hot and at the ready. It’s so hard to corral a group of people to enjoy a meal when it’s nice and hot. Soup is a relaxing alternative. No corralling needed. Set out the bowls near the pot and its selfserve. If you’ve got coconut milk and vegetables, you’ve got soup. The fridge is looking empty and dinnertime approaches. Good news! With a can of coconut milk and a pound of vegetables, soups on the horizon – and they don’t have to be fresh veggies either, frozen works just fine. First thing to do is to decide the flavor direction you want to go. I make this decision most based on my ingredients. If I have a fresh green pepper in the fridge and some canned beans in the pantry, maybe some smoked sausage frozen – Cajun seems like a viable option. Italian is always

soup downright delightful. Brown sausage or bacon then add canned lentil soup. Sizzle red curry paste in oil then stir in a can of tomato soup. Toss in a few shrimps at the end and serve with rice noodles. Stir a pile of chopped

tender herbs like cilantro and dill into any soup you please. Soften a little garlic with crushed red pepper flakes in butter or olive oil before pouring in minestrone. Throw in a handful of fresh or frozen peas or

chopped greens for color and oomph. Simmer tomato-based soups with a hunk of Parmesan rind. Wake up any canned soup with a splash of fresh citrus juice or vinegar.

The weather at B e n t w a t e r Ya c h t & Country Club consisted of overcast skies and light drizzle in the morning. In the afternoon temperatures reached the high 70s as the sun came out. Weekly Columns

Double the inheritance, double the planning A weekly column by Kent Pendleton FA M I LY A N D LIFESTYLE Women may be in for double the planning when it comes to managing windfalls. Inheritances are a blessing that can relieve old debts while opening doors you didn’t know existed. However, as fortuitous as an influx of wealth can be, the emotional and administrative complexities that often come along with sudden wealth can be overwhelming. Did you know that roughly 80% of women outlive their husbands, according to the U.S. Census Bureau? Considering women are also expected to inherit $28.7 trillion in intergenerational wealth over the next 40 years, it seems likely that many married women may receive not one, but two inheritances in their lifetime – from their parents as well as their husbands. So what exactly does this mean for your life and future? Sudden wealth, especially as a result of a loss, can add a host of complicated feelings to an already difficult time. Fortunately, you don’t have to navigate the complexities alone. Whatever events your life may have in store, Pendle

Hill Advisors can help you factor in practicalities and prepare for what lies ahead. Plan now, breathe easier later Many women are already playing a proactive role in their household’s finances. Research from RBC Wealth Management found that 98% of women are joint or sole family banking decision-makers, while 84% take joint or full responsibility for family investments. Still, receiving an inheritance from a spouse could mean that for the first time some women have to make financial decisions all on their own. Fortunately, you and your spouse can plan proactively and mitigate some of the stress either of you could experience in such an event by putting together a survivor’s plan. With our clients we discuss what should happen in the event that either of you becomes the sole bearer of your household’s wealth. Be sure there are no gaps in your long-term wealth strategy that could create complications, such as a shortage of liquidity. As always, don’t forget to periodically make sure the details in your estate planning documents are up to date, particularly your beneficiaries. No sudden movements If and when you do receive an inheritance, there are several factors to keep in

mind as you go about incorporating it into your life and financial plan. For starters, don’t rush to make any decisions. A significant wealth event not only comes with strong emotions but can trigger requests for loans from friends or family or a deluge of unsolicited advice from the wellintentioned. You may even find yourself with an intense urge to give or spend it all at once. Not so fast. Rather than immediately going down any of those avenues, set a holding period for yourself – perhaps six or 12 months – before you decide what next move feels best for you. Take this time to think about what’s most important to you and how your new assets might support those goals, whether they involve your career, your family or your community. If you don’t have one already, get a team of professionals in place. We coordinate with your estate attorney and CPA to help ensure all your wealth and life management details are accounted for. Many women view money as a way to care for themselves and their families. You might see an inheritance as an opportunity to set aside funds for a child’s or grandchild’s education or as a means to help ensure your family’s financial confidence. As you think about your goals for your wealth, don’t forget

to take your own longevity into account. Not only do women generally live longer than men, but people are leading longer lives in general, making it an important consideration as you update your financial plan. Beyond planning for your longevity, Pendle Hill Advisors can help you manage the other nuances of significant wealth, as well. For example, while some liquidity can be useful, too much idle cash can be vulnerable to depreciation instead of being thoughtfully invested. Further, we partner with your CPA to implement tax-efficient strategies to help preserve your wealth for you and

of non-governmental controlled areas of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts of Ukraine and that Russia would be deploying forces into Ukraine, must be met with an immediate response. “For months, Ukraine's political leaders and its civil society pleaded with the United States to help them counter Russia by immediately sanctioning N o r d S tr eam 2 an d providing them with the

weapons they need to defend themselves. We committed as a nation in the Budapest Memorandum to helping ensure their sovereignty and territorial integrity, and it is gravely in our national security interests to do so. The crisis that now threatens to engulf them will also create unknowable and acute dangers for our European NATO allies, whom we are bound by treaty to help defend.

President Biden has refused to meet these commitments, and BidenHarris officials are to an enormous extent directly responsible for this crisis. He and his administration instead settled for an endlessly deferred and wholly uncredible strategy of responding to Putin's aggression after an invasion. They have pursued bizarre tactics like declassifying American intelligence and

trying to shame Putin. That approach has failed. No one is calling for the United States to intervene militarily on Ukraine's behalf, and it would be a catastrophic mistake to do so. Instead, the United States must impose devastating sanctions against Putin's interests, including immediate and mandatory sanctions permanently putting an end to his Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

Governor Abbott Holds Roundtable In Conroe On Crime Related To Illegal Immigration Governor Abbott Holds Roundtable In Conroe On Crime Related To Illegal Immigration AUSTIN - Governor Greg Abbott today held a roundtable in Conroe on crime related to illegal immigration. The Governor was joined by members of law enforcement and families whose loved ones were killed by illegal immigrants. The families shared their stories with the Governor, and law enforcement representatives discussed how Texas will continue to apprehend dangerous individuals attempting to cross the border in the wake of President Biden's refusal to solve the border crisis. "Lives are tragically being lost and communities are being devastated because of the open border policies put in place by President Biden," said Governor Abbott. "These lax policies invite crime and contraband into our communities because dangerous actors can more easily enter our country and wreak havoc on innocent families. We mourn with the families here today whose loved ones were killed by illegal immigrants, and we vow to continue our efforts to secure the border and keep our communities safe so that innocent lives are protected." During the roundtable, Governor Abbott and attendees discussed the deadly consequences of President Biden's refusal to enforce existing laws related to illegal immigration. The Governor also outlined the actions the State of Texas has taken to secure our communities in the wake of the border crisis, including passing bail reform last session and building the Texas border w a l l . A d d i t i o n a l l y, Governor Abbott dis-

cussed how Texas has opened two jail booking facilities through Operation Lone Star to arrest individuals for borderrelated crimes such as trespassing, smuggling, and trafficking. Operation Lone Star has led to nearly 9,000 felony charges and more than 11,000 criminal arrests. Additionally, more than 200,000 individuals have been apprehended through the mission. this is an election year and these are people who are particularly desperate to try to address the inflation issue by a phony gimmick like this.” “People need to find a way to keep the lights on and keep the heat on in the wintertime, and right now the Democrats' policies

are not only making that less possible, they're making it more expensive.” Senator John Cornyn, a Republican from Texas, is a member of the Senate Finance, Intelligence, and Judiciary Committees.

Devotional Spreading the Word

By Gail J. Box Gailbox@consolidated.net

There are many comparisons we can make using light and dark or darkness. The most vivid in my mind and experiences is a family trip, years ago, to Carlsbad Cavern in New Mexico. The guides take you deep down into the cavern to a large, open room. The rock walls are wide and very high above travelers. Then comes a moment where all lights go off. We could put our hand right in front of our face and not see anything. I’ll never forget it. Perhaps that’s

EVEN IN GREAT DARKNESS A TINY LIGHT SHOWS THE WAY why I have candles in each room of our home. I hardly ever burn them, but it gives me peace of mind that we will have some light if the electricity goes off. And some may be able to afford a generator for such emergencies. The rest of us stock up on flashlight batteries and battery-run radios. Darkness was there in Jesus’ time. Only the sun was the light in the day, and some had fires in small oil lamps for light at night, as well as wood on the floor for cooking. The Bible has much to

say about the contrast of darkness and light. It speaks of a comparison in our own body of those two words…”darkness and light.” Isaiah speaks in Chapter nine of the Savior to come in the future – as he says: “The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them…” Isaiah 9:2. Look at the faces of babies and children. When they smile, it’s a picture of one who just came into this world…from God. Such joy is there!

Anyone who knows the Lord walks in the light. John, Jesus’ disciple, tells us about walking in the “Light” of the Lord: “These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete. This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth: but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is

in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.” First John 1:4-7. After power outages from several storms, I can truthfully say I appreciate, very much, having our lights coming back on after a storm. There is one small part of the scripture above that is something I cling to…”God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all…” Sometimes darkness can enter into our life as hard times. It

can be named; depression, gloominess, somber in attitude, or even morbid. Rather than giving in to those “joy killers,” say a quick prayer for God to lift up your “spirit” into His Light and begin to think of a special song of worship. The Lord loves for us to sing to Him. Make that song your “tiny light” to bring back your former happiness once more. And learn, as I did, to quickly say to myself… “Don’t worry…BE HAPPY!”

TEXAS COMMISSION ON ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY Consolidated Notice of Receipt of Application and Intent to Obtain Permit and Notice of Application and Preliminary Decision Air Quality Standard Permit for Concrete Batch Plants Proposed Registration No. 166938 Application. Texcon Ready Mix Inc, has applied to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for an Air Quality Standard Permit, Registration No. 166938, which would authorize construction of a concrete batch plant located at 24643 Farm-to-Market Road 1488, Magnolia, Waller County, Texas 77355. This link to an electronic map of the site or facility's general location is provided as a public courtesy and not part of the application or notice. For exact location, refer to application. http://www.tceq.texas.gov/assets/public/hb610/index.html?lat=30.188611&lng=95.816389&zoom=13&type=r. The proposed facility will emit the following air contaminants: particulate matter including (but not limited to) aggregate, cement, road dust, and particulate matter with diameters of 10 microns or less and 2.5 microns or less. This application was submitted to the TCEQ on October 28, 2021. The executive director has completed the administrative and technical reviews of the application and determined that the application meets all of the requirements of a standard permit authorized by 30 TAC § 116.611, which would establish the conditions under which the plant must operate. The executive director has made a preliminary decision to issue the registration because it meets all applicable rules. The application, executive director's preliminary decision, and standard permit will be available for viewing and copying at the TCEQ central office, the TCEQ Houston regional office, and at the th Waller County Library located at 2331 11 Street, Hempstead, Waller County, Texas 77445, beginning the first day of publication of this notice. The facility's compliance file, if any exists, is available for public review at the TCEQ Houston Regional Office, 5425 Polk Street Suite H, Houston, Texas. Visit www.tceq.texas.gov/goto/cbp to review the standard permit. Public Comment/Public Meeting. You may submit public comments or request a public meeting. See Contacts section. The TCEQ will consider all public comments in developing a final decision on the application. The deadline to submit public comments or meeting requests is 30 days after newspaper notice is published. Issues such as property values, noise, traffic safety, and zoning are outside of the TCEQ's jurisdiction to consider in the permit process. The purpose of a public meeting is to provide the opportunity to submit comments or ask questions about the application. A public meeting about the application will be held if the executive director determines that there is a significant degree of public interest in the application or if requested by a local legislator. A public meeting is not a contested case hearing. If a public meeting is held, the deadline to submit public comments is extended to the end of the public meeting. Contested Case Hearing. You may request a contested case hearing. A contested case hearing is a legal proceeding similar to a civil trial in state district court. Unless a written request for a contested case hearing is filed within 30 days from this notice, the executive director may approve the application. A person who may be affected by emissions of air contaminants from the facility is entitled to request a hearing. To request a hearing, a person must actually reside in a permanent residence within 440 yards of the proposed plant. If requesting a contested case hearing, you must submit the following: (1) your name (or for a group or association, an official representative), mailing address, daytime phone number; (2) applicant's name and registration number; (3) the statement “[I/we] request a contested case hearing;” (4) a specific description of how you would be adversely affected by the application and air emissions from the facility in a way not common to the general public; (5) the location and distance of your property relative to the facility; (6) a description of how you use the property which may be impacted by the facility; and (7) a list of all disputed issues of fact that you submit during the comment period. If the request is made by a group or association, one or more members who have standing to request a hearing must be identified by name and physical address. The interests which the group or association seeks to protect must be identified. You may submit your proposed adjustments to the application which would satisfy your concerns. See Contacts section. TCEQ Action. After the deadline for public comments, the executive director will consider the comments and prepare a response to all relevant and material, or significant public comments. The executive director's decision on the application, and any response to comments, will be mailed to all persons on the mailing list. If no timely contested case hearing requests are received, or if all hearing requests are withdrawn, the executive director may issue final approval of the application. If all timely hearing requests are not withdrawn, the executive director will not issue final approval of the permit and will forward the application and requests to the Commissioners for their consideration at a scheduled commission meeting. The Commission may only grant a request for a contested case hearing on issues the requestor submitted in their timely comments that were not subsequently withdrawn. If a hearing is granted, the subject of a hearing will be limited to disputed issues of fact or mixed questions of fact and law relating to relevant and material air quality concerns submitted during the comment period. Issues such as property values, noise, traffic safety, and zoning are outside of the Commission's jurisdiction to address in this proceeding. Mailing List. You may ask to be placed on a mailing list to receive additional information on this specific application. See Contacts section. Information Available Online. For details about the status of the application, visit the Commissioners' Integrated Database (CID) at www.tceq.texas.gov/goto/cid. Community Rebel Joan Of ARC President Jenny Lehr Is Presented 6 Certificates Of Approval On Her Newly Found Confederate Ancestors! It is an awesome and exciting reward for anyone to be able to delve back into their family history and find “proofs” of their family line in American History, and if lucky enough, follow the families to before they came to America from other countries. Many Genealogy Lineage Groups follow American History by pinpointing their families to our various wars in our country. The United Daughters of the Confederacy concentrates on the “War Between The States”, and the Confederate families connected to it with honorable service. The Rebel Joan Of Arc Chapter, of the United Daughters of the Confederacy boasts a proud chapter history in its short time since their Chartering this wonderful Chapter. The RJOA Chapter was chartered in honor of their heroine, Rebel Joan Of Arc, also known as Belle Boyd, Actress and Confederate Spy for two Confederate Generals. Her devotion never wavered although caught and imprisoned, released, and returned to her devotion to the cause. Many members in the Rebel Joan Of Arc Chapter have done the hours and months of extra work in searching out their extra family members

who also either were soldiers or contributed to “The Cause” for Independence. REBEL JOAN OF ARC CHAPTER PRESIDENT, JENNY LEHR, has done just that and is a great example to her members. PRESIDENT LEHR is modest about her honored family history, but she herself portrays their exact strength and courage. PRESIDENT LEHR was presented her 6 Certificates of Approval on her additional Confederate Ancestors by RJOA Chapter Registrar and CoFounder, DIANNE KEBODEAUX. It is important to recognize the hours and years that R e g i s t r a r, D I A N N E KEBODEAUX has done for so many other members i n t h i s c h a p t e r. T h e members are always anxious to see who gets approved so they can see if there is any possibility if they might have family connections to each other, or maybe served in the same units at the same time? The hours of research and documents ordered produced these 6 wonderful men to be honored: Andrew N. McWhorter, Company B,Madison’s Regiment, Texas Calvary, CSA Charles James C. Paschall, Company D,

Infantry, CSA As you can see, many families went to battle together, and some families separated on different paths, or joined at different times. Wives and children were left behind to do the Man’s work as well as their own work, defending their property from Indians, and marauders out to seal for their needs, and to keep the family crops going. By Population percent-

age very few Farmers had help on their farms, and large families helped in all the needed areas to keep their property and family going from season to season. The family home front was a difficult on the families to keep going with t h e m e n a w a y, o f t e n resulting in starvation, and as difficult for men off at war as soldiers believing in their noble cause. Sometimes women even dressed

as men to go to war and help, rather than be left behind alone. The Rebel Joan Of Arc continues to do their Ancestor Roll Call at every meeting honoring their Ancestors by name. “Lest We Forget”… Publicity by RJOA Elaine Collings, ehcollings@gmail.com
