Texas Annual BEAR Crawl to Weekly Raise Funds for Exotic Gas Prices Animal Sanctuary (April 18, 2022) - Average gasoline prices in Texas have risen 0.8 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.69/g today, according to GasBuddy's survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 23.4 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand $1.10/g higher than a year ago. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Texas was priced at $3.18/g yesterday while the most expensive was $4.79/g, a difference of $1.61/g. The lowest price in the state yesterday was $3.18/g while the highest was $4.79/g, a difference of $1.61/g. The national average price of gasoline has fallen 3.8 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $4.06/g today. The national average is down 21.1 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands $1.21/g higher than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country.

Historical gasoline prices in Texas and the national average going back ten years: April 18, 2021: $2.59/g (U.S. Average: $2.85/g) April 18, 2020: $1.57/g (U.S. Average: $1.78/g) April 18, 2019: $2.56/g (U.S. Average: $2.84/g) April 18, 2018: $2.50/g (U.S. Average: $2.74/g) April 18, 2017: $2.26/g (U.S. Average: $2.41/g) April 18, 2016: $1.89/g (U.S. Average: $2.11/g) April 18, 2015: $2.25/g (U.S. Average: $2.44/g) April 18, 2014: $3.48/g (U.S. Average: $3.66/g) April 18, 2013: $3.38/g (U.S. Average: $3.51/g) April 18, 2012: $3.80/g (U.S. Average: $3.90/g) Neighboring areas and their current gas prices: Midland Odessa- $3.75/g, down 6.9 cents per gallon from last week's $3.82/g. San Antonio- $3.53/g, down 5.8 cents per gallon from last week's $3.58/g. Austin- $3.64/g, down 5.9 cents per gallon from last week's $3.70/g. “We've now seen the national average price of gasoline decline every week for the last month, a feat we most likely would not have expected ahead of summer and given the continued turns in Russia's war on Ukraine. However, the downturn could slow or could even reverse in the days ahead if the rally in oil prices continues," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "A barrel of crude is now $14 higher than it was last week, as the European Union weighs placing harsher sanctions on Russia. This could further tilt the delicate balance of supply and demand in the wrong way, potentially sending oil prices up significantly if implemented. The path forward at the pump remains murky, however, with many possible outcomes, so motorists should be prepared for a bumpy ride." SOURCE GasBuddy

Montgomery, TX - Did you know that there are 1,000 bears living in substandard conditions in residential backyards as pets, or roadside attractions, and in need of placement bought out of the exotic pet trade? Many animal facilities a c r o s s t h e c o u n t r y, h o u s i n g l a rg e e x o t i c animals and wildlife, have closed due to lack of finances (due to COVID). This leads to lack of proper care, and neglect. Bears can consume 40 plus pounds of fruits and vegetables along with fish, nuts, bugs, and other animals (including feral hog piglets) per day when preparing for hibernation in the winter months, even in captivity. Many people do not realize you can buy a bear cub from a breeder for $500 and have it as a pet in your home. Currently there are exotic animal sales north of Huntsville and through exotic pet stores in the Greater Houston area selling bears, tigers, lemurs, and other wild animals that only require a low-cost permit to have at your residence. This is the same with tigers (as low as $1000) and many other wild exotic animals. The bears, tigers,

refuge for displaced exotic and wild animals and educate others about the natural world. Kati often

and monkeys are bred for profit in this country including in Texas. All the animal rescue sanctuaries stay full and there continues to be a need for added neglected large animals. The alternative to a sanctuary is euthanasia. Bears Etc. is the ONLY exotic animal rescue in Southeast Texas! The mission of Bears, Etc. is to set up a Bear and Exotic Animal Rescue Sanctuary in Montgomery County, connecting people with nature through education and awareness. The hope is to build the nation’s first ultramodern Bear Sanctuary, supplying a safe place for neglected, abused, and unwanted bears, who are a part of the exotic pet trade. The sanctuary would supply a permanent refuge for displaced, captive-raised exotic animals kept as "pets" or retired from performance. Bears Etc. is a 501©3 non-profit organization founded in 2017 by Kati and Ambrose Krouse to “Leave the world better than they found it by giving animals, and people, a PEACE of the Wild!” Kati Krouse rescues exotic animals, specifically bears, out of

celebratory atmosphere while drawing attention to a very serious cause. "Our spring fundraiser has always been a party with a real, meaningful purpose,” Ronsman explains, “The funds raised tonight are critical to continuing to provide Advocates for every single child in foster care in our county." The highlight of the evening was the featured family and Advocate presentation, which highlighted CASA Advocate, Mike Quinn, and the little girl, Perla, for whom he advocated during her time in foster care. The event showcased a variety of crowd-pleasing games including a Golden Ticket game and a raffle for a diamond pendant courtesy of Thomas Markle Jewelers. This year’s event also included an after-party featuring a fireworks show over the lake and entertainment by the Lost Shaker of Salt band. CASA Development Director, Lindsay Miller, and the committee worked for almost a year to pull together a tropical night to

remember. Miller, who is also a volunteer CASA Advocate, says planning a reimagined kind of event at a new venue brought challenges, but the end result was well worth the effort. “The time, energy, compassion, and dedication of CASA volunteers is just amazing.
