(May 17, 2021) - Texas gas prices have risen 6.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.76/g today, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Gas prices in Texas are 16.5 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand $1.21/g higher than a year ago. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Texas is priced at $2.39/g today while the most expensive is $3.99/g, a difference of $1.60/g. The lowest price in the state today is $2.39/g while the highest is $ 3 . 9 9 / g , a d i ff e r e n c e o f $1.60/g. The national average price of gasoline has risen 6.4 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.03/g today. The national average is up 16.8 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands $1.17/g higher than a year ago. Neighboring areas and their current gas prices: Midland Odessa- $2.95/g, up 8.4 cents per gallon from last week's $2.86/g. San Antonio- $2.67/g, up 10.6 cents per gallon from last week's $2.57/g. Austin- $2.69/g, up 9.1 cents per gallon from last week's $2.60/g. "The national average gas price surged last week thanks to big price jumps in Southeastern states due to the previously shut down Colonial Pipeline, but most areas outside that region saw smaller fluctuations," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy. "With the pipeline now back in service, I expect prices to come down in the hardest hit states, specifically the Carolinas, Georgia, Te n n e s s e e , F l o r i d a a n d Virginia. The drops should lead the national average to soon fall back under the $3 per gallon mark, but motorists shouldn't get too excited- prices may start to head higher in a few weeks should Memorial Day gasoline demand be red hot. In addition, motorists in the affected areas should see outage numbers continue to decline this week, especially early in the week when gasoline demand tends to be lowest. I'm optimistic that there will be enough recovery by Memorial Day for motorists in these states to fill up without having to search for gasoline." GasBuddy is the authoritative voice for gas prices and the only source for station-level data spanning nearly two decades. Unlike AAA's once daily survey covering credit card transactions at 100,000 stations and the Lundberg Survey, updated once every two weeks based on 7,000 gas stations, GasBuddy's survey updates 288 times every day from the most diverse list of sources covering nearly 150,000 stations nationwide, the most comprehensive and up-to-date in the country. What an honor and accomplishment to continue “Proving” your Family's Heritage. This is not a simple process, and copies of proofs of Birth, Marriage, Death Certificates, plus copies of Military Records of soldier in good standing, Census Records, Probates and Wills or Secessions are some of the proofs required to become “Officially Approved”.
Once your First Official Ancestor is completed for the United Daughters of t h e C o n f e d e r a c y, a l l Ancestors following are called “Supplementals”. This is the same in all lineage organizations, and the same requirements are necessary for each person on each generation till you arrive at your Ancestor to honor. Thus this difficulty makes each Ancestor Approved all the more
valued, and the process more honored once final Approval comes from the TX Division Registrar, and the Registrar General. This process takes many months of waiting to see if your Applications are “Approved”. The Texas Division R e g i s t r a r o f Supplementals has her own special Position to process all her Members wanting to prove more of
their Ancestors. The Genealogy world and Proving your Ancestors to what ever time period in history you are searching for is so rewarding. To be invited to join your family to these special Lineage Organizations, and most especially the United Daughters of the Confederacy, is such an Honor to be Treasured!
Keep Us Fed Montgomery County Expands to Serve Magnolia; Increases Community Partnerships K e e p U S F e d Montgomery County (KUSF) continues to expand its service area and establish new partnerships with businesses and nonprofit organizations. In April, KUSF began recovering food donations from its 9th Kroger store, located at 6616 Fm 1488 Road in Magnolia. This partnership means thousands of pounds of nutritious food per week is recovered by our team of volunteers daily and delivered to non-profit partners serving the food insecure. In addition, two more businesses have stepped up to alleviate hunger through food donations: Chipotle Mexican Grill located at FM 1488 in Magnolia and Chick-fil-A located on Eva Street in Montgomery. During the week of staff training, Chipotle provided 2,381 pounds of food, enough for nearly 2,000 meals that benefitted 10 recipient partners.
Growing food donations enables Keep US Fed to not only help our existing network of 30 non-profit recipient partners meet more needs but also establish new partnerships. In March and April, we were able to begin working with Impact Church of the Woodlands, Adult and Teen Challenge in Magnolia, and RCCG Tower of Refuge in Spring. Impact Church of the Woodlands launched its food pantry on March 31st, 2021, serving clients every Wednesday from 4-7pm. Senior Pastor Dr. Roche Coleman said, “we see the pantry as the bridge” where we can meet people’s physical needs but also minister to their spiritual needs. The pantry has enabled Impact Church to build relationships with a diverse group of Montgomery County residents, many who visit weekly. They estimate

(AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar is reminding families and businesses that they can save on the purchase of certain water- and energyefficient products during the state’s Water-Efficient Products and ENERGY STAR® sales tax holidays. The holidays, created by the Texas Legislature, both take place Saturday, May 29, through Monday, May 3 1 . T h e T e x a s Comptroller's office estimates shoppers will save about $13.4 million in state and local sales tax. “Outdated water systems and inefficient appliances, along with triple-digit temperatures, can put a tremendous strain on our water supplies and power grids,” Hegar said. “By taking advantage of these sales tax holidays, Texans can make upgrades that will help alleviate those pressures and lower their utility bills — while saving money on state and local sales taxes.” This is the sixth year for t h e Wa t e r - E f f i c i e n t Products Sales Tax Holiday. Products displaying a WaterSense® label or logo can be purchased tax free for personal or business use. These include showerheads, bathroom sink faucets and accessories, toilets, urinals and landscape irrigation controls. The sales tax holiday also applies to lawn and garden products that help conserve water outdoors. Items qualifying for the exemption include soaker or drip-irrigation hoses; moisture controls for sprinkler or irrigation systems; mulch; and plants, trees and grasses. These items can be purchased tax free for residential use only. There’s no limit to the number of water-efficient or water-conserving products you can purchase tax free. For more information on the WaterEfficient Products Sales Tax Holiday, visit the Comptroller’s website. During the ENERGY STAR Sales Tax Holiday, certain energy-efficient products displaying the ENERGY STAR logo can be purchased tax free, including air conditioners priced at $6,000 or less, refrigerators priced at $2,000 or less, ceiling fans, fluorescent light bulbs, dishwashers, dehumidifiers and clothes washing machines.
