Texas Congressman Brady Celebrates Local

A Letter Students Appointed to Military Academies from the Weekly Board of Gas Prices Directors (June 15, 2020) - Texas gas prices have risen 8.1 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $1.81/g t o d a y, a c c o r d i n g t o GasBuddy's daily survey of 13,114 stations. Gas prices in Texas are 26.0 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 58.7 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Texas is priced at $1.39/g today while the most expensive is $2.69/g, a difference of $1.30/g. The lowest price in the state today is $1.39/g while the highest is $2.69/g, a difference of $1.30/g. The national average price of gasoline has risen 4.7 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $ 2 . 0 9 / g t o d a y. T h e national average is up 23.3 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 57.7 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. Neighboring areas and their current gas prices: Midland Odessa$1.86/g, up 8.6 cents per gallon from last week's $1.77/g. San Antonio- $1.79/g, up 12.7 cents per gallon from last week's $1.66/g. Austin- $1.81/g, up 9.7 cents per gallon from last week's $1.71/g. “As gasoline demand continues on the road to recovery, the national average has advanced for another week, making it seven straight weeks of rising gas prices as the easing coronavirus situation inspires more Americans to hit the road," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy. "Data from Pay with GasBuddy shows U.S. gasoline demand rose 2.4% last week to its highest level in over three months, giving renewed confidence that amidst OPEC's crude oil cutbacks, supply will remain in check. I expect the upward trend to continue across most of the country ahead of July 4, with prices perhaps rising another 10-20 cents by then. The one thing that could bring restraint to rising gas prices is if we see a significant second wave of COVID-19 cases, but for now, I'm optimistic that won't happen."

This past weekend, Congressman Kevin Brady hosted his annual Military Academy sendoff breakfast to celebrate the students from the Eighth Congressional District of Texas who received appointments to the U.S. Service Academies. “This is always one of my favorite events,” said C o n g r e s s m a n B r a d y. “Although our celebration looked different this year in order to practice social distancing, the accomplishments and triumphs of these students will always be something to celebrate.” “These exceptional

young people have put in years of hard work to receive these prestigious appointments,” he added. “I wish each and every one the best of luck on their next adventure!” This year’s featured speaker was Lt. He was awarded four Bronze Star Medals during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and is now Director of the Training and Leader Development Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. 2020 United States Appointees to the Service

The Montgomery County Food Bank Board of Directors has begun a search for our next CEO, led by board members Dr. Ann Snyder and Kathy Pepper. Ann is the former CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands and Interfaith Community Clinic and currently serves on the Woodlands Township Board of Directors. Kathy is a former executive with Exxon Mobil and current chair of the MCFB Development Committee. The Board of Directors extends its eternal gratitude to Allison Hulett for three years of passionate leadership and great progress. Words cannot express our appreciation for her stewardship through two major crises, Hurricane Harvey and the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as her vision in developing a comprehensive strategic plan and building a strong team for the future. Under Allison’s leadership, MCFB was able to grow its mission of Uniting the Community to Fight Hunger by innovating delivery channels and providing more nourishment to those in need than in any prior three-year period in our history. Under Allison’s leadership, MCFB was able to strengthen partner-agency relationships and increase the use of mobile markets, which allows MCFB to meet our clients closer to home and to deliver more nutritious meals to them. Allison also enlisted the help of our corporate partners to extend the life of fresh produce, increasing usage and reducing waste. Please join me, and the entire Board of Directors, in thanking Allison for her many contributions to the mission of Montgomery County Food Bank. We wish her all the best in her new role and know that she will continue to be an exemplary professional, person and friend of MCFB.
