Texas The Montgomery County “Voices from the Weekly Republican Women’s Club Past” Gas Prices (August 30, 2021) - Texas gas prices have fallen 2.6 cents per gallon in the past week, a v e r a g i n g $ 2 . 7 9 / g t o d a y, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Gas prices in Texas are 5.1 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 87.8 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Texas is priced at $2.23/g today while the most expensive is $3.59/g, a difference of $1.36/g. The lowest price in the state today is $2.23/g while the highest is $3.59/g, a difference of $1.36/g. The national average price of gasoline has fallen 2.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.12/g today. The national average is down 2.9 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 90.1 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. Neighboring areas and their current gas prices: Midland Odessa- $2.92/g, down 1.9 cents per gallon from last week's $2.94/g. San Antonio- $2.58/g, down 4.7 cents per gallon from last week's $2.62/g. Austin- $2.70/g, down 4.5 cents per gallon from last week's $2.74/g. "While the national average price of gasoline declined yet again over the last week, Hurricane Ida has been causing countless disruptions to critical infrastructure, including oil production, refineries and pipelines. We're likely to see a reversal this week, but motorists need not be too concerned at this point," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy. "I expect the national average to rise in the neighborhood of 5-15 cents per gallon in the next couple of weeks- far smaller than the impact from Hurricanes Katrina and Harvey, but with damage assessments still to come, it’s possible we see slight deviation from that. While Colonial Pipeline shut Lines 1 and 2 as a precaution, it’s highly unlikely that this will cause any longterm disruption to fuel supply like we saw months ago after the company was hacked. The biggest question for refineries will be the flooding- which could alter the rise in gas prices, but the odds of a massive surge in gas prices nationwide are extremely low." GasBuddy is the authoritative voice for gas prices and the only source for stationlevel data spanning nearly two decades. Unlike AAA's once daily survey covering credit card transactions at 100,000 stations and the Lundberg Survey, updated once every two weeks based on 7,000 gas stations, GasBuddy's survey updates 288 times every day from the most diverse list of sources covering nearly 150,000 stations nationwide, the most comprehensive and up-to-date in the country. The Montgomery Historical Society will present Voices from the Past, a guided tour of the City’s three historic cemeteries. Visitors will get an intimate look at the lives of many of the patriots buried there, including Dr. Charles B. Stewart, who lived just outside of town when he designed the Texas Flag. Some of the notable people whose lives will be highlighted lived here during the early 1800’s as Texas fought for independence from Mexico and ultimately gaining statehood. Still others to be highlighted were d e s c e n d a n t s o f Montgomery’s founding families who continued to contribute to the progress of Montgomery through more recent decades to its present historical prominence. Save this date and plan to visit Montgomery on Saturday October 23 when, from Noon to 4:00 p.m. local historic actors in period dress will recite “first person” scripts telling the city’s history through the biographies of these pioneers buried in the cemeteries. The scripts of each historic person are carefully written to highlight and celebrate their lives and their contributions to Texas’ and Montgomery’s history. A donation is requested for visitors attending this fascinating event—just one ticket for all three locations: $10 for adults, $3 for children ages 15-18, younger children free. Note: The 7th Grade Montgomery area students working on the Historical Scavenger Hunt will be free, but it is requested that their accompanying parent or guardian pay the donation for this fundraiser. Tickets will be sold at each of the three cemeteries that day, but it will be fast and easy to secure tickets before that day on the Montgomery Historical Society’s web site at MHS-TX.org. Any additional donations online or obtained that day will be greatly appreciated. Additionally, the tickets will be available the day of the event at the information table at the Montgomery Community Building, Liberty at College Streets. That is also where there will be food trucks for visitors’ enjoyment. Self-driving tours will be staggered to avoid traffic problems to start at the different cemeteries every 30 minutes for visitors to drive to the next scheduled tour when they receive their maps and wristbands. The maps will pinpoint the locations of the cemeteries as well as parking areas, and public restrooms. Visitors may also just begin their tour when they arrive at whichever cemetery they choose, once they have made the donation and received their map, plus a wristband which needs to be displayed on the tour. The historic cemeteries are as follows: * Old Methodist C e m e t e r y, f o u n d e d i n 1838—On Pond Street at Eva Street (SH105); * Montgomery Memorial Cemetery, founded in 1863--

Comments According to Doc Jeff Foxworthy says. “Forget the Rednecks For Now, The People Of Texas “HAVE A PLAN!” Walden Happenings By Doc Fennessy The opinions expressed in this editorial do not necessarily reflect those of MCN.
Southern Philosopher Jeff Foxworthy is the real expert in determining who and what is a “Southern Redneck”. Lately Jeff said “Forget about the Rednecks for now, and here are some interesting facts about the people that live in the Great State of Texas”. If you are going to come to Texas you better be aware of the “Rules in Texas” or they will make life miserable for you or run you out”. WE FOLKS HERE IN THE STATE OF TEXAS HAVE A PLAN! Its been a few years since I first published this column but I am continually requested to repeat it because of the corruption in Washington D.C. and the People of Texas say “Enough is enough – let’s get out by ourselves [succeed from the union!] Can we do that and survive? READ ON! Tried and true Texans have said, that Texas is as close to heaven as you’re going to get while living on earth. Which reminds me of a story
relating to that proverb. A man in Topeka, Kansas, decided to write a book about churches around the country. He started by flying to San Francisco and started working east from there. Going to a very large church he began taking photographs and making notes. He spotted a golden telephone on the vestibule wall and was intrigued with a sign that read, “$10,000 per minute.” Seeking out the pastor, he asked about the phone and the sign. The pastor answered that the golden phone is, in fact, a direct line to Heaven, and if he pays the price, he can talk directly to God. The man thanked the pastor and continued on his way. As the writer continued to visit churches in Seattle, Salt Lake City, Denver, Chicago, Milwaukee, and around the United States, he found more such phones with the same sign and the same explanation from each pastor. Finally, the man arrived in the great State of Texas. Upon entering a church, behold, he saw the usual golden telephone. But THIS time, the sign read: “Calls: 25 cents!” Fascinated, the man asked to speak with the pastor. “Reverend, I have been in cities all across the country and in each church, I have found this golden
telephone, and have been told it is a direct line to Heaven, and that I could use it to talk to God. But in 20 other churches, the cost was $10,000 per minute. Your sign says 25 cents per call. Why is that?” {I just love this part!} The pastor, smiling kindly, replied: “Son, you're in Texas now, and it's a local call!” In the true REPUBLIC OF TEXAS …we are different, but we do believe in that! In case things get a little tough during the next few months in Washington D.C., we the People of Texas have a plan... Maybe you folks don't know it, but Texas is the only state with a legal right to secede from the Union. We once were a legal country; our state flag is the only one in the union that can fly at the same height as the American Flag. The Republic of Texas! (Reference the Texas-American Annexation Treaty of 1848.). We Texans love all y'all Americans, but we might have to take action since Joe Biden is now the President of the U.S.A. So what does Texas have to do to survive as a Republic? (1.) NASA is just south of Houston, Texas. We will control the space industry. (2.) We refine over 85% of the
gasoline in the United States. (3.) Defense Industry--we have over 65% of it. The term “Don't mess with Texas” will take on a whole new meaning and all these statistics can be updated to increase our real power!!! (4). Oil - we can supply all the oil that the Republic of Texas will need for the next 300 years. What will the other states do? Gee, at that time we didn’t know (5.) Natural Gas - again, we have all we need and it's too bad about those Northern States. John Kerry and Al Gore will just have to figure out a way to keep them warm. (6.) Computer Industry we lead the nation in producing computer chips and communications equipment - small companies like Texas Instruments, Dell Computer, EDS, Raytheon, National Semiconductor, Motorola, Intel, AMD, Atmel, Apple materials, Ball Misconduct, Dallas Semiconductor, Nortel, Alcatel, etc. The list goes on and on. (7.) Medical Care - We have the research centers for cancer research, the best burn centers and the top trauma units in the world, as well as other large health centers. The Houston Medical Center alone employs over 65,000 people. (8.) We have enough colleges to keep educating and making smarter citizens: University of Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Texas Christian, Rice, SMU, University of Dallas, University of Houston,

Baylor, UNT (University of North Texas), Texas Women's University, etc. Ivy grows better in the South anyway. (9) We have an intelligent and energetic work force, and it isn't restricted by a bunch of unions. Here in Texas, we are a Right to Work State and, therefore, it's every man and woman for themselves. We just go out and get the job done. And if we don't like the way one company operates, we get a job somewhere else. Folks, for the past seven (7) years there is a population emigration of millions of people leaving Mexifornia and the northern states of come to Texas to work and they all are employed. In fact, the latest count was that there 400.000 jobs now available in just the Huston area. (10.) We have essential control of the paper, plastics, and insurance industries, etc. (11.) In case of a foreign invasion, we have the Texas National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard, and several military bases. We don't have an Army, but since everybody down here in Texas has at least six rifles, a variety of handguns and a pile of ammo, we can raise a proud and brave Army in 24 hours, if we need one. If the situation really gets bad, we can always call the Department of Public Safety and ask them to send over the incomparable and most feared Texas Rangers. (12.) We are totally selfsufficient in beef, poultry, hogs and several types of
grain, fruits, and vegetables, and let's not forget seafood from the Gulf. Also, everybody down here knows how to cook 'em so that they taste good. We don't need any of your food. (13). Three of the ten largest cities in the United States, and twenty-three of the 100 largest cities in the United States are in Texas. And Texas also has more land than California, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Maryland, Rhode Island, and Vermont combined. We can have the big herds again. (14.) Trade: Three of the ten largest ports in the United States are in Texas. (15). We also manufacture cars down here, but we don't need to. You see, nothing rusts in Texas, so our vehicles stay beautiful and run well for decades. This is just to name a few of the items that will keep the Republic of Texas in good shape. There isn't a thing out there that we need and don't have. Now to the rest of you folks in the United States won't have any TV as the space Center in Houston w i l l c u t o ff s a t e l l i t e communications. You won't have any natural gas to heat your homes.! And that my friends is what TEXANS can do. AS THE BEAT GOES ON!!! We are One Nation Under God!! Life's tough...it's even tougher if you're stupid!”- {By - John Wayne}.
San Antonio’s Grace Jin both finished tied for fifth at 3-over 219, after matching final round scores of 5-over 77. Yvonne Chamness of Austin finished in solo seventh at 4-over 220. Chaemin Kim of Austin and Sara Tomaszewski of Mexico finished tied for eight at 5-over 221, and San Antonio’s Lindsay Lee rounded out the top ten at 6-over 222. Bentwater Yacht & Country Club hosted the Texas Girls’ Invitational for the sixth time in the tournament’s history. The event returned to the Weiskopf Course for the second year in a row. The
course was designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish and stretched out to 6,125 yards for the tournament. The day started with temperatures in the mid to low 70’s and rose into the low 90’s by the end of play. The sun was shining all day and winds remain relatively calm; wavering between 6-10 mph throughout the round. Next up for the Legends Junior Tour is the North Texas Classic at Tangle Ridge Golf Course in Grand Prairie. The North Texas Classic routinely features one of the best tournament fields on the LJT Open event schedule.

Houston Texans Back Up Against the Bucs Losing 23-16 James M. Rankin, MCN Reporter By: James M. Rankin, Montgomery County News Sport Writer Houston, Texas: The last preseason game of the 2021 season is in the books marked as a defeat as the H o u s t o n Te x a n s a r e defeated by the 2020 Super Bowl Champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-16. The big news is that twenty-two year (22) veteran and future Hall of Famer Tom Brady show many weakness of the Texans’ defense. Although the Texans’ defense shut the Bucs down during the first series of downs; on the second possession Bucs’ QB Brady went six (6) for (6) and drove his team ninety-one (91) yards for the first score of the game. Most NFL teams play their starters for the first two series, then rotate in players to round out their teams. With that in mind, Texans’ back up quarter
Davis Mills took command and managed to be competitive with ten (10) completions on twentyseven (27) attempts for one hundred and six (106) yards and two (2) touchdowns passes. Tyrod Taylor started the game with an early exit putting up six (6) completions on nine (9) attempts for thirtyone (31) yards. Brady ended the day with eleven (11) completions on fourteen (14) attempts for one hundred and fifty-four (154) yards and a touchdown. The Texans do have a one- two punch in the backfield with a couple of talented running backs with former Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram Jr. who had eleven (11) carries for forty-four (44) yards along with Scottie Phillips with eight (8) carries for seventythree (73) yards. The Texans defense showed signs of life with an impressive interception by Terrence Brooks along with a couple of sacks from the Linebackers. Christian
Kirksey led the team with four (4) solo tackles and one (1) assist along with defensive back Tavierre Thomas with four solo (4) tackles. Houston Texans special team squad continues to improve with two (2) blocked kicks in the game; however, the team needed a backup place kicker.
Watching Old Western Movies Brings Back Memories Weekly Column by Doyle Driver doyledriver@yahoo.cm. I’ve been watching a lot of old westerns lately, and they have been stirring memories not recalled in many moons. Take for instance; when Patricia and I were first married we lived in a duplex while I attended Texas Tech. We had a small black and white TV that received two or maybe three channels. On Saturday evenings and nights we popped corn, got us a pot of coffee or pitcher of iced tea, and settled in for the duration, mostly at our duplex or the Morton’s house. Wanted Dead or Alive, Tales of Wells Fargo, Wyatt Earp, Cheyenne, and Wagon Train were on the menu for the evening. Mary and Patricia were in and out, talking about Mary’s pets or school (both were teachers at Lubbock High), or whipping up deserts in the kitchen. All this went on as Elwin and I watched second rate Westerns, building up to the Main Attraction, “Wagon Train”. When it

memories of Saturday evenings with the Morton's and Patricia. Patricia and the Morton's are gone now, so when watching old Westerns alone, I let my thought process transport me to memories of days gone by. My boys and my grandchildren would rather talk on their iPhones and text each other than watch anything in black and white, let alone old Westerns. I miss Patricia and the Morton’s. So each time I surf the channels and run across an old episode of Wagon Train, I watch; but I do miss Ward Bond as the crusty old Wagon Master. Watching those old Westerns I lovingly recall the wonderful days with Patricia and the Morton’s, eating hot dogs and watching B&W Movies of yesteryear! The Texans season opener will be a home game against the divisional rival the Jacksonville Jaguars who are coming off an impressive victory against the Dallas Cowboys 34-14. Now for some commentary, it is my belief that the Houston Texans are in a state of rebuilding with several missteps that have negatively impacted the franchise. My predication for the 2021 season is an eight (8) and eight (8) season which is good compared to the train wreck last year. It is going Conroe, Texasto be an exciting season, so Due to the increasing read all about it in your number of local COVIDhometown paper. 19 cases and after consulting with the Montgomery County Public Health officials, upcoming inperson programming planned for all Montgomery County Memorial Library System locations will be suspended until further notice. Nearby professional painter Trish Buscemi (owner of Colors Matter), who specializes in painting projects for children and adults with special needs, was cited in a SherwinWilliams interview. “(She) believes color affects neuropathways in the brain, creating a biochemical response. Triggering the desired response in the particular individual is key.”
Trish also stated in the article, “Colors matter. They affect us in every way, every day. They sway moods, provoke thought, stimulate conversation and appetite. They calm us, cheer us, rev us up and even depress us. Color is emotional, cultural, sensory and cognitive.” Volunteering is more than putting time and energy into a project. As one of the Bearkat volunteers said, “It

Volunteering here was not only exciting, but it made me want to spread awareness of their mission and the work that they do.” New Danville is a nonprofit rural community for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities located in Willis, TX.

But the routine continued, sometimes in Lubbock, sometimes in Abilene and sometimes by phone as Elwyn and I talked about the latest episode of Wagon Train. Then on November 5, 1960 Ward Bond died of a heart attack at the age fiftyseven, while attending an SMU, Texas A&M game in Dallas. Governor Abbott, Texas National Guard Increasing Efforts To Secure The Border AUSTIN - Governor Greg Abbott is surging Texas National Guard to better secure the border. The Guard is now authorized to enforce Texas law, including arresting people who have crossed the border illegally and violated Texas law. They are working with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and local law enforcement to increase border security. In addition to performing a law enforcement f u n c t i o n , t h e Te x a s National Guard is also helping with the early stages of constructing border barriers and a border wall. Governor Abbott praised their efforts s a y i n g , “ T h e Te x a s National Guard is playing an unprecedented role to secure the border because of the unprecedented refusal of the federal government to fulfill its obligations under federal law.” Governor Abbott named border security
funding as a priority for the current legislative Special Session. In a call with border sheriffs and county judges on Saturday, the Governor urged border sheriffs and county judges to make their voices heard to the House Appropriations Committee during a hearing this week on the urgent need for this additional funding to secure the border. The proposed appropriation would also fund the deployment of more National Guard to the border. Since Governor Abbott launched Operation Lone Star in March 2021, over 4,600 arrests have been m a d e b y t h e Te x a s Department of Public Safety for charges including criminal mischief and criminal trespass. Additionally, OLS has led to the confiscation of drugs and illegal firearms — including over 700 pounds of cocaine, 127 pounds of deadly fentanyl, over 8,500 pounds of cannabis,
and over 270 firearms to date. In July 2021, more than 212,000 people attempted to illegally cross Texas' southern border — the largest number since 2000. The attached pictures

Devotional UNEXPLAINABLE ACTION OR REACTIONS OF THE MIND Spreading the Word
By Gail J. Box Gailbox@consolidated.net
The above words are the definition of one word: “dreams.” All of us have dreams. Some are good, some scary, and some are heavenly. I tend to remember the heavenly ones over the others. The best thing about dreams are they may clear up some problems we have, or present heavenly things to come. And those dreams are sent to us by the Lord. The worst thing about dreams are
they can be very scary – like falling off a cliff, or seeing dark images. Those dreams are given to us by the devil to keep our mind off of God and to put fear in us. Here’s an example: I once had a dream where we were inside our home and outside were many bad men who had long guns and were trying to come in our home. I quickly went from window-towindow, locking each s e c u r e l y. T h e g o o d thing? They never made it inside. I do still remember it, but it isn’t scary at all, now. Some dreams may be more scary than that, or worse. We just usually wake up

before they finish their bad deeds. The main point about dreams and visions is that God always wants us to remember He is ever with us. He is a good and kind Father and is our protection from all harsh dreams. Read this from Psalm 91: “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, ‘My refuge and my fortress, My God in whom I trust!’ For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His
pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge;…You will not be afraid of the terror by night, or of the arrow that flies by day; a thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not approach you. You will only look on with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked. For you have made the LORD, my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place. No evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent…..(or dwelling). Psalm 91: 1-4a; and 510. What I wrote here, is only a small
portion of Psalm 91. I hope all who read these comforting words will soon go to your Bible and read the rest of this beautiful song of David. In this song, David was being chased by King Saul, who wanted to kill him. So if we are being “chased” by bad dreams, let David’s words from the LORD flow over you and cover the bad dreams with good and true thoughts. These are wonderful words for those, right now, who are trapped in a foreign country. We can pray, now, for all those who are trapped in a foreign country to call on our GOD MOST HIGH to release them to refuge
and safety as they wait to come home. I pray for many people all over the world to be released and to give them dreams of the time they will be back in their country of freedom from wars and hard times….and especially for the quick reuniting of every family in separation of some of the members. I pray for some to receive good dreams from the Lord as they wait to be released and reunited with their whole family. Let’s pray for good news and we’ll continue to study dreams and visions next week. Comments welcomed to: gailbox@consolidat ed.net

NOTICE TO IMPLEMENT REVISED FIXED FUEL FACTOR Entergy Texas, Inc. hereby publishes NOTICE that, pursuant to Section 36.203 of the Public Utility Regulatory Act (codified in TEX. UTIL. CODE) and 16 Tex. Admin. Code § 25.235(b), it filed with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (the “Commission”) on August 20, 2021, a tariff to implement a revised fixed fuel factor. All of Entergy Texas' retail customers whose fuel charges are calculated under the Texas fixed fuel factor tariff – including but not limited to Residential, Small General Service, Large General Service, Large Industrial Power Service, and Street and Outdoor Lighting Service – will be affected by the Commission's approval of the revised fixed fuel factor. The revised fixed fuel factor, if approved, will affect only the fuel portion of the rates charged by Entergy Texas and will have no effect on non-fuel base rates. Entergy Texas seeks Commission approval to revise the fixed fuel factor effective with the first billing cycle of the September 2021 billing month. Entergy Texas proposed that the fixed fuel factor be changed pursuant to a semi-annual filing to be made each February and August, with revised fuel factors to be effective with the first billing cycle of the March and September billing months, pursuant to a methodology that changes the fuel factor based upon changes in the published price of natural gas. This methodology was authorized for use in Docket No. 32915. The revised fixed fuel factor, differentiated by voltage level, is as follows:
PROPERTY DESCRIPTION: 1. $3,594.31 Amount due on assessment account 2. $13,118.17 Attorney Fees 3. Pre-Judgment interest at 5% per annum accruing when this suit was filed and ending the day before this judgment was entered; post-judgment interest at 5% per annum accruing on the day this judgment was entered and ending when the foreclosure sale is consummated. 4. $348.00 court costs5. $0.00 judgment credit And foreclosure of a lien on the following described property: UNIT 305, IN BUILDING C, OF MARINA VISTA CONDOMINIUM, AS DESCRIBED IN CONDOMINIUM DECLARATION RECORDED IN VOLUME 1, PAGE 235, ET SEQ., OF THE CONDOMINIUM RECORDS OF MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TEXAS, LOCALLY KNOWN AS 12100 MELVILLE ROAD, #305C, MONTGOMERY, MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TEXAS 77356 (THE PROPERTY). The revised fuel factor would result in an increase in Entergy Texas' annual Texas retail fuel and purchased power revenues by approximately $147 million, or 26.8% on an annual basis. Compared to the fixed fuel factor approved by the Commission effective March 2021, a residential customer using 1000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month would see an approximate increase of 16.8% annually, or $5.00 on average per month, on his/her electric bill. The fixed fuel factor rate is designed to pass through to customers the actual fuel costs incurred by Entergy Texas to serve customers. Entergy Texas is not allowed to make a profit on fuel costs. These changes will be subject to final review by the commission in the electric utility's next reconciliation. Entergy Texas expects the revised fixed fuel factor to be in effect for the billing period of September 2021 through February 2022. Persons with questions or who want more information on this petition may contact Entergy Texas at Attn: Customer Service – Fuel Factor, 350 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77701, or call (866) 981-2602 during normal business hours.
