Texas The Montgomery County “Voices from the Weekly Republican Women’s Club Past” Gas Prices (August 30, 2021) - Texas gas prices have fallen 2.6 cents per gallon in the past week, a v e r a g i n g $ 2 . 7 9 / g t o d a y, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Gas prices in Texas are 5.1 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 87.8 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Texas is priced at $2.23/g today while the most expensive is $3.59/g, a difference of $1.36/g. The lowest price in the state today is $2.23/g while the highest is $3.59/g, a difference of $1.36/g. The national average price of gasoline has fallen 2.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.12/g today. The national average is down 2.9 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 90.1 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. Neighboring areas and their current gas prices: Midland Odessa- $2.92/g, down 1.9 cents per gallon from last week's $2.94/g. San Antonio- $2.58/g, down 4.7 cents per gallon from last week's $2.62/g. Austin- $2.70/g, down 4.5 cents per gallon from last week's $2.74/g. "While the national average price of gasoline declined yet again over the last week, Hurricane Ida has been causing countless disruptions to critical infrastructure, including oil production, refineries and pipelines. We're likely to see a reversal this week, but motorists need not be too concerned at this point," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy. "I expect the national average to rise in the neighborhood of 5-15 cents per gallon in the next couple of weeks- far smaller than the impact from Hurricanes Katrina and Harvey, but with damage assessments still to come, it’s possible we see slight deviation from that. While Colonial Pipeline shut Lines 1 and 2 as a precaution, it’s highly unlikely that this will cause any longterm disruption to fuel supply like we saw months ago after the company was hacked. The biggest question for refineries will be the flooding- which could alter the rise in gas prices, but the odds of a massive surge in gas prices nationwide are extremely low." GasBuddy is the authoritative voice for gas prices and the only source for stationlevel data spanning nearly two decades. Unlike AAA's once daily survey covering credit card transactions at 100,000 stations and the Lundberg Survey, updated once every two weeks based on 7,000 gas stations, GasBuddy's survey updates 288 times every day from the most diverse list of sources covering nearly 150,000 stations nationwide, the most comprehensive and up-to-date in the country. The Montgomery Historical Society will present Voices from the Past, a guided tour of the City’s three historic cemeteries. Visitors will get an intimate look at the lives of many of the patriots buried there, including Dr. Charles B. Stewart, who lived just outside of town when he designed the Texas Flag. Some of the notable people whose lives will be highlighted lived here during the early 1800’s as Texas fought for independence from Mexico and ultimately gaining statehood. Still others to be highlighted were d e s c e n d a n t s o f Montgomery’s founding families who continued to contribute to the progress of Montgomery through more recent decades to its present historical prominence. Save this date and plan to visit Montgomery on Saturday October 23 when, from Noon to 4:00 p.m. local historic actors in period dress will recite “first person” scripts telling the city’s history through the biographies of these pioneers buried in the cemeteries. The scripts of each historic person are carefully written to highlight and celebrate their lives and their contributions to Texas’ and Montgomery’s history. A donation is requested for visitors attending this fascinating event—just one ticket for all three locations: $10 for adults, $3 for children ages 15-18, younger children free. Note: The 7th Grade Montgomery area students working on the Historical Scavenger Hunt will be free, but it is requested that their accompanying parent or guardian pay the donation for this fundraiser. Tickets will be sold at each of the three cemeteries that day, but it will be fast and easy to secure tickets before that day on the Montgomery Historical Society’s web site at MHS-TX.org. Any additional donations online or obtained that day will be greatly appreciated. Additionally, the tickets will be available the day of the event at the information table at the Montgomery Community Building, Liberty at College Streets. That is also where there will be food trucks for visitors’ enjoyment. Self-driving tours will be staggered to avoid traffic problems to start at the different cemeteries every 30 minutes for visitors to drive to the next scheduled tour when they receive their maps and wristbands. The maps will pinpoint the locations of the cemeteries as well as parking areas, and public restrooms. Visitors may also just begin their tour when they arrive at whichever cemetery they choose, once they have made the donation and received their map, plus a wristband which needs to be displayed on the tour. The historic cemeteries are as follows: * Old Methodist C e m e t e r y, f o u n d e d i n 1838—On Pond Street at Eva Street (SH105); * Montgomery Memorial Cemetery, founded in 1863--
