Cleveland, Ohio: It was the Houston Texans first road game of the 2021 season as they traveled north to Ohio. After coming off a win in their first home game, the Texans were flying high. Browns had dropped a close one against the Kansas City Chiefs, so they came into the contest with something to prove to the league and to their fan base. The Browns beat up the Texans 31-21 along with causing a major injury to the Te x a n s ’ s h i n i n g s t a r quarterback Tyrod Taylor who will be out for a couple of games due to a hamstring injury. It was a near perfect game for Texans’ QB Taylor who threw for ten (10) completions on eleven (11) attempts for one hundred and twenty-five (125) yards and threw for a touchdown and rushed for a n o t h e r s c o r e . Ta y l o r engineered an eight (8) play, eighty-four (84) yard drive to put the Texans on the board. Later in the second quarter on a third (3rd) and nine (9), Taylor used his athleticism, as he sprinted down the right hash line for a fifteen (15) yard rushing touchdown which might have led to his injury. Texans’ thirty-one (31) year old running back Mark Ingram continued to carry the run game on his back along with Browns’ defensive players. He gained forty-one (41) yards on fourteen (14) carries. Texans’ receiver Brandin Cook had nine (9) receptions for seventy-eight (78) yards and a touchdown catch. The most impressive play of the game was an unbelievable one-two punch defensive play from the Texans as Defensive back Justin Reid timed a reception perfectly to dislodge the ball which bounced into the awaiting arms of his linebacker. Justin had a breakout game with four (4) solo tackles and an i n t e r c e p t i o n . Te x a n s Linebacker Kamu GruglenHill continued to play hard and effective with six (6) solo tackles and three (3) assists and a sack. The Texans’ special teams has some bright spots and challenges with the outstanding punting from Cameron Johnston who average fifty-six (56) yards per kick; however, punt return specialist Andre Roberts mishandled a punt return that set up the Browns’ first score. Ex-Texans’ first round pick Jadeveon Clowney had only one (1) tackle with two (2) assists for the Browns. It will be a short week for the team, the Texans will host the Carolina Panthers in Reliant Stadium on a national stage this Thursday night. The Te x a n s a r e a - 7 - p o i n t underdog. Back-up quarterback Davis Mills will be stepping into some big shoes as he leads his team. He finished the contest against the Browns with eight (8) completions on eighteen (18) attempts for one hundred and two (102) yards along with a touchdown and interception. His performance will have a major impact on the future of this season for the Texans.
