The Carolina Panthers Weekly Truly Remarkable Champion Pounce Gas Prices Robert “Doc” Patrick Lane Fennessy the Houston Texans 24-9 (September 27, 2021) Texas gas prices have risen 0.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.83/g t o d a y, a c c o r d i n g t o GasBuddy's daily survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Gas prices in Texas are 2.9 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 97.0 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Texas is priced at $2.49/g today while the most expensive is $3.69/g, a difference of $1.20/g. The lowest price in the state today is $2.49/g while the highest is $3.69/g, a difference of $1.20/g. The national average price of gasoline has fallen 0.7 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.17/g today. The national average is up 3.8 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands $1.00/g higher than a year ago. Neighboring areas and their current gas prices: Midland Odessa- $2.94/g, down 8.5 cents per gallon from last week's $3.02/g. San Antonio- $2.70/g, up 6.4 cents per gallon from last week's $2.64/g. Austin- $2.75/g, up 0.5 cents per gallon from last week's $2.75/g. "Average gas prices saw little change from a week ago, declining slightly. But overall, prices remained near 2021's peak price set in early August due to Covid-19 supply and demand imbalances," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy. "Relief in average gas prices has really only shown up west of the Rockies thus far, and may continue to be delayed by an active hurricane season which has prevented gas prices from their normal seasonal decline. While I am optimistic that we eventually will see a decline in price, the drop is not likely to be as noticeable as I had anticipated due to the above average hurricane season and as demand remains seasonally strong." GasBuddy is the authoritative voice for gas prices and the only source for station-level data spanning nearly two decades. Unlike AAA's once daily survey covering credit card transactions at 100,000 stations and the Lundberg Survey, updated once every two weeks based on 7,000 gas stations, GasBuddy's survey updates 288 times every day from the most diverse list of sources covering nearly 150,000 stations nationwide, the most comprehensive and up-to-date in the country. Montgomery County lost a truly remarkable champion Staff Robert “Doc” Patrick Lane Fennessy passed away September 17th after 92 years of living life to the fullest. From his early days in California Doc was always living the dream, playing sport, college life, involvement with professional sports, writing, teaching, entertaining and always willing to share his knowledge. In the mid-nineties Doc moved to the Montgomery area, specifically Walden on Lake Conroe where he continued being involved with golf and then the local Arts and becoming the essence of a true Texan. As if those pastimes were not enough! Around 1996 Doc reached out to Monte West, f o u n d e r o f t h e Montgomery County News. During that first interaction, Doc and Monte formed an everlasting friendship. Doc suggested that he would help promote his new hometown and the subdivision he lived in by writing the column “Walden Happenings”. It became an instant success,

dedication, determination, and love are unmatched. He served as a mentor to me, a friend, and as someone to emulate. Doc could interact with anyone and find a common interest with that person because of his vast experiences of life. He could see within a person their strengths and

weakness and would help them bring out their best. Doc could see that I had struggles on which direction to take the newspaper in the early days, he and I would discuss what readers would and wouldn’t like. Doc would suggest to me, “just

covering every current issue surrounding a growing community, thus helping form and promote that community and the area in general. Doc had a keen interest in Arts and wrote many press releases and columns supporting those different venues. Once other organizations realized w h a t a b e n e f i t D o c ’s columns were, they too sought him out to help promote their functions and organizations, and Doc happily agreed. More contributions to the community; Doc became more enlightened in local and national politics and began writing interesting and fully engaging opinion columns while still maintaining his regular duties as a columnist. Many of those thought-provoking columns caused some to self-reflect on their own political beliefs and helped form Montgomery County’s current political climate. On a personal note, from Monte West, Founder of the Montgomery County News. Doc was one of the few men I’ve known whose c o m m i t m e n t , l o y a l t y,

the Rebel Joan of Arc 2721, The Woodlands chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy and members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, were all dressed in period attire. M a y o r S a r a Countryman stated that over 9000 folks visited Fernland last year, there is a lot of history within the park, come by and visit one day. Fernland Historical Park is one of four City parks in Montgomery, Tx, displaying some wonderful

examples of early Texas architecture. Evolution of Fernland Historical Park: Many of the buildings that are present in Fernland Historical Park were acquired by Carroll and Mae Tharp. Mr. & Mrs. Tharp spent 20 years painstakingly relocating, and restoring these buildings. Mr. Tharp, a trained preservation architect and a former board member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation,

took great care to ensure the authenticity of their restoration. These buildings include: The Hulon The Crane The Jardine In 1991, the Tharps donated the buildings listed above, and their original location to Sam Houston State University. Due to the remote location of the buildings, it was

Houston, Texas - The bright lights on the national stage illuminated Reliant stadium and the struggling Texans as the team was dominated by the Panthers for the world to witness in a commanding defeat 24-9 on Thursday night. The Houston Texans throughout their history have been camera shy due to the youth of the franchise, but the composition of the 2021 team are seasoned pros. Bottom line: the team was unprepared to meet the challenge. Third string quarterback Davis Mills had a long night, but showed some heart in the game as he had nineteen (19) completions on twentyeight (28) attempts for one hundred and sixty-eight (168) yards and one touchdown. The best series of downs came in the closing minutes of the second quarter as Mills led a seven (7) play, sixty-four (64) yard drive with a one (1) yard toss to newly acquired receiver Anthony Miller; however, place kicker Joe Slye missed the extra point. The Texans’ offensive line were manhandled which dwarfed the running attack that limited Texans’ veteran back Mark Ingram to six (6) carries for only twenty-one (21) yards. A. Roberts continued to have problems on punt returns. The only bright spot is the continual progressive of Brandin Cook who put up some good numbers with nine (9) receptions for one hundred and twelve (112) yards. The Texans’ defense knew they had their hands full with Carolina’s running back star Christian M c C a ff r e y w h o unfortunately was injured and had to leave the game. Despite that setback, the Texans’ defense allowed the Panthers over four hundred (400) total offensive yards. The Texans’ defensive standouts were the linebackers’ core who stacked up three (3) sacks with the standouts being Zach Cunningham with six (6) solo tackles and eight (8) assists along with Christian Kirksey with seven (7) solo tackles and three (3) assists. Vernon Hargreaves III continued his advancement as a starter with six (6) solo tackles with two (2) assists. It is apparent that this team needs a solid game plan and confidence that they can engineer a successful season for both coaches and players. The H o u s t o n Te x a n s f a n s deserve better than type of play in these troubled times. In other AFC South divisional action, the Tennessee Titans trounce the Colts 25-16; the Jacksonville Jaguars lost to the Arizona Cardinals 3119. The Houston Texans are 1-2 and are in second place in their division. The Texans travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills, so read all about it in your hometown paper.
