Armed Felon Arrested For Drugs Following Traffic Stop

Average gasoline prices in Texas have fallen 14.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.03/g today, according to GasBuddy's survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 39.4 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 22.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 6.8 cents in the last week and stands at $4.41 per gallon. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Texas was priced at $2.56/g yesterday while the most expensive was $4.29/g, a difference of $1.73/g. The lowest price in the state yesterday was $2.56/g while the highest was $4.29/g, a difference of $1.73/g. The national average price of gasoline has fallen 11.3 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.55/g today. The national average is down 29.9 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 30.9 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country. Historical gasoline prices in Texas and the national average going back ten years: October 16, 2022: $3.25/g (U.S. Average: $3.86/g) October 16, 2021: $2.95/g (U.S. Average: $3.30/g) October 16, 2020: $1.86/g (U.S. Average: $2.16/g) October 16, 2019: $2.31/g (U.S. Average: $2.66/g) October 16, 2018: $2.65/g (U.S. Average: $2.87/g) October 16, 2017: $2.28/g (U.S. Average: $2.45/g) October 16, 2016: $2.00/g (U.S. Average: $2.23/g) October 16, 2015: $2.02/g (U.S. Average: $2.27/g) October 16, 2014: $2.97/g (U.S. Average: $3.15/g) October 16, 2013: $3.09/g (U.S. Average: $3.35/g) Neighboring areas and their current gas prices: Midland Odessa- $3.24/g, down 6.5 cents per gallon from last week's $3.30/g. San Antonio- $2.90/g, down 14.3 cents per gallon from last week's $3.04/g. Austin- $2.99/g, down 14.9 cents per gallon from last week's $3.13/g. "The downward momentum has indeed gained steam, with the national average declining over the last week with again virtually every village, town, city, region and state seeing gasoline prices fall - with the added bonus that diesel prices have also declined. While the price of oil jumped some 5% last week, I remain steadfast that additional declines are coming to gasoline prices the way the situation stands now, but remain cautious that this depends on actions that are not foreseeable, mainly the conflict in the Middle East," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "For now, the national average is likely to soon fall to its lowest level in six months. Some areas of the Great Lakes could see a price cycle in the next few weeks, which is typical after long declines as stations often pass along the drops there faster than anywhere else. I believe the national average still has some 15-35 cents of declining to do the way things stand now." SOURCE GasBuddy

New Caney, TX – On the night of October 15th, 2023, just before midnight, dedicated Deputies from the Montgomery County Precinct Four Constable's Office, led by Constable Kenneth "Rowdy" Hayden, conducted a traffic stop in the New Caney area that led to the apprehension of a male suspect. At approximately 11:45 PM, a vigilant Montgomery County Precinct Four Deputy on patrol noticed a gold Kia Spectra traveling in the vicinity of the 23800 block of Walton Avenue in New Caney, TX. The male occupant of the vehicle was positively identified as Shilo Wells (age 26, from Porter, TX), a wanted fugitive. We l l s h a d o u t s t a n d i n g warrants from The Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Livingston, TX, for violating his bond on multiple felony narcotics and weapons charges, as well as a warrant from The Harris County Sheriff ’s Office in Houston, TX, for failure to appear on another weapons charge. Several PCT 4 Deputies swiftly executed a high-risk traffic stop at the 23800 block of Walton Avenue, successfully detaining Wells. A semi-automatic 9mm handgun was discovered in his waistband during the initial encounter. Subsequent investigation included a search of Wells' vehicle, resulting in the seizure of 15.8 grams of Methamphetamine, 6.6 grams of Alprazolam, 2.2 grams of Methadone, and 5.3 ounces of Marijuana found in Wells' backpack inside the vehicle. Wells, who was already a convicted felon prior to this incident, was taken into custody on charges of Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon by a Felon, three counts of felony Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Marijuana (4 ounces to 5 pounds). A d d i t i o n a l l y, h e w a s detained on the two outstanding warrants for his arrest. Constable Kenneth "Rowdy" Hayden commends his dedicated Deputies for their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the community. This incident is a testament to the exemplary work that underscores our mission of "Professional Law Enforcement Through Dedication and Compassion to the Public." In this case, it resulted in the removal of an armed felon and illicit narcotics from our streets, making our community safer for all.

This time around, MISD had 3 Teams not only in the Top 10, but in the top 5 of this tournament, with over 176 boats from 20 area High School Programs. Claiming First Place Individually was the team of Tanner Gatewood and Zane Dixon. They were able to bring in 4 fish weighing 11.14 pounds on a very stingy Lake Somerville, where over 80% of the field did not bring in any Bass to the scales, and there were no 5 fish limits caught. To say it was tough out there would be an understatement. Claiming 3rd in the event were the Champions from Lake Conroe, Case Rutherford and Maverick

Barsh. By bringing in 7.49 pounds of Bass. By doing so, this pair has the slimmest of leads in the Anglers of the Year Race, one point, as they have 998 points out of a possible 1000. The Society would like t o t h a n k A n n Meador, President of the History Taskforce for all the help they gave the S o c i e t y, m a k i n g everything work more smoothly. As it has been in past years, ladies working as

MISD Fish from page 1 first place trophy by over 5 pounds. The MISD Fishing Team currently has a 6 point lead over 3 programs that are deadlocked in 2nd, Anderson-Shiro, College Station, and Magnolia West. That’s some pretty heavy competition, as Mag West and College Station have won the last two State Championships, and

docents were from the Thomas Jefferson Stubbs 2523 Conroe Chapter of the Texas Division, UDC, were there in mourning attire from the 1861 era. These ladies would lead visitors out to the gravesite of noteable residents of yester year. The Society would like to thank these ladies, as they walked numerous miles, taking visitors our to the various gravesites. The Old Cemetery, sometimes called Old Methodist Cemetery was established in 1838, is located on Pond St. There were seven deceased residents of Montgomery featured this year. They were: 1) Rev. Thomas Chilton (Baptist preacher) played by Charles Billingsley 2) Ella Chilton (Rev. Chilton's wife) is not actually buried in this cemetery, was played by Kalee Londeen 3) Captain Thomas Jefferson Peel, Confederate soldier was played by Bernie Sargent Anderson is always ultracompetitive as well. Next stop for the young Anglers that call Montgomery home will be at fabled Sam Rayburn Reservoir on November 11th. It will be there that this talented group of young women and men will look to stay “On a Biscuit,” and maintain their ranking as the number one Team in the Houston Division in the Texas High School Bass Association.

4) Bettie Peel (daughter-in-law of Capt. Peel) co-owner of the General Store in Montgomery was played by Melissa Sargent 5) Owen Shannon, Revolutionary Soldier was played by Robin Montgomery 6) Margaret Montgomery Shannon (wife of Owen Shannon) is not actually buried in this cemetery, was played by Joy Montgomery 7) Alexander McCown, city map maker, was played by Rubin Borjas All the re-enactors were dressed in the attire of their era and knew the history of their character very well. Homecoming from page 1 kinda makes you think that bigger may not always be better. Most girls wore mums that were medium to small, and even some boys wore wrist mums to show their team spirit. And no matter the size of the m u m s , M o n tg o mer y ’s team spirit was most evident from all the Bears fans that attended. “I’m very excited to be here,” said Freshman cheerleader Kallie Carver, who was thrilled to be, “cheering in front of a large

baseball player, the reenacter was not able to be there on Saturday but the visitors were told of his history 4) John Bowe Addison, the Miracle of Montgomery was played by Logan Vidal 5) Martha Davis Addison, mother of Bowe and daughter of Judge Nat Hart Davis was played by Kirsten Beard 6) L t . Wi l l i a m McGrew, Confederate soldier, played by Steve Sodish 7) Dr. Charles B. Stewart, designer of the Texas Flag was played by Jack Shepherd 8) Julia Stewart, wife of Dr. Stewart and real g,g,g granddaughter of Charles B. Stewart was played by Pat Spackey. All the re-enactors were dressed in period clothing of their era and all knew the history of the person they were portraying very well. Saturday could not have been a more beautiful day, there were many 7th grade history students out working on the historical scavenger hunt and everyone was entertained by the Montgomery Elementary School Bearcat Choir performing many "Texas" songs and doing a fine job. The town of Montgomery is full of crowd for the first time.” Kallie intends to continue cheering for Montgomery and even into college, with her plans on attending medical or law school in time. Homecoming is not only special to students, and teachers, but also to parents and grandparents as well. The motherly figures of Lady Bears deserve special recognition for their countless hours and assistance in putting together the mums for their daughters to wear on the special day. “ We a l w a y s l o v e M o n t g o m e r y Homecoming,” said MHS

Trevor Mahoney and Kason Cryer.

The MHS Baseball team sent a contingent of players, with five team members becoming letter holders to spell out B-E-A-R-S, which definitely lifted spirits. family and friends coming out to watch a good football game,” said Junior Stratton Dyer, a player with the MHS baseball team. His sentiment was shared by the entire grandstand of Montgomery supporters, and even though the Bears came up short against the Randle Lions, the can-do spirit of Montgomery High School and its fans, left the field a winner.

If you want your charitable spirit to have more influence in your estate plan, connect

with your advisor. Things to do * Confirm cost of living: Next year’s Social Security adjustment is typically announced in October. * Adjust your coverage: Ready your documents for Medicare open enrollment, if eligible. If you’re working and your employer offers benefits, take the time to understand them. * Refresh your plan: It’s important to monitor your retirement and investment accounts regularly and make adjustments to insurance and estate plans as needed. The holidays can be a good time to do this if you want to discuss what you’re planning with close friends or relatives. * Fend off fraud: Start by tracking and reviewing all of your bank and credit card statements for

irregular activity. You can also request a copy of your consumer credit profile and stay on the lookout for scams asking you to confirm or update your account information via email. * Tend to your portfolio: If you’re invested in mutual funds, don’t forget about capital gains distribution dates that typically fall in December. Consider balancing your realized capital gains with losses where appropriate. Talk to your advisor about whether this strategy might help lower your tax liability. * Engage in smart giving: As deadlines for year-end gift and charitable contributions approach, make a strategy for your philanthropic goals. Consult with your advisor if you’re interested in donating appreciated stock

or bunching a few years’ worth of donations in a donor advised fund to help you meet the threshold for itemizing on a tax return. * Revisit your resolutions: Before beginning your New Year’s celebrations, review the financial planning you did for the past year. In a perfect world, buying and selling simultaneously would go just according to schedule. The reality is it doesn't always pan out as nice and timely as you would like. Thankfully, there are a few tricks and strategies you can utilize to smooth out any wrinkles in the plan. 1) Leasebacks Leasebacks allow you to sell your home and then rent it back temporarily from the new owner. It buys you time to find and close on your dream home without rushing or having to move twice. 2) Bridge loans - This type of loan acts as a temporary financing solution, bridging the financial gap between selling your current home and purchasing a new one. They often involve two phases. Phase 1 - You may not have to make monthly payments on your new home, but interest accrues. Phase 2 - Once your current home sells, you use

the proceeds to pay off the bridge loan, including accrued interest. Keep in mind a bridge loan can free you from the contingency of selling your current home before buying a new one. Translation? You get a competitive edge in a hot real estate market where homes are snatched up quickly. If you’re planning to buy and sell at the same time, here are a few more dos and don'ts: • Sync your closing dates as best as you can. • Have a backup plan for where you’ll go if the timing doesn't perfectly align. Investigate the strategies mentioned above. • Communicate often with your real estate team. No question or concern is off-limits. • Try not to let all the details get the best of you. Remember, this is temporary, and oh-so-soon, you’ll be settled into your new home. -Megan Stultz Call or Text 936-5372587 Megan@MeganStultz.c om www.FairwaterWestmo nt.com

Opinion / Editorial Ruben The Israeli-Hamas Conflict Borjas Jr, Columnist Ruben’s Montgomery Musings The surprise Hamas attack on Israel, with the deaths of the innocent of The Holy Land, shocked us all on October 7th. I doubt any Hamas leader had read up on the Holocaust? Where Jewish babies were thrown alive into furnaces, beheaded, and thrown against walls. Hamas has about as much respect for non-Muslim human life, as

Socialist Democrats have for non-white human life in the womb. Now I know that there are a lot of innocent Palestinians who have no skin in the game, who just want to live in peace, but what was done in their name by Hamas? It’s brutal, it’s unimaginable, it’s surreal, and reminds me of German Wehrmacht, or Army

soldiers, patiently watchi n g N a z i S S ‘einsatzgruppen,’ or death squads, murdering hundreds of Jewish men, while calmly eating ice cream on the sidelines. It defies reality. This attack was essentially Israel’s 9/11. It's a new kind of warfare, with the use of paragliders. And whether the Israelis had viable intelligence or not; the same could be said of Pearl Harbor, the Tet Offensive in Vietnam, and 9/11/2001. And just like the U.S. getting caught with its pants down during our events. The same could be said of a complacent Israeli Defence Force (IDF), with the ArabIsraeli War of October 1973; when the overconfidence gained from the success of the Six Day War of 1967, came crashing down. The thing that has changed with this new conflict is Israel’s resolve. This attack has galvanized the country, and it finally has a will that actually wants to stamp out terrorism coming out of Gaza. The use of paragliders in warfare is a policy change, a horrific one. Now Israel has to look up as well as down when defending its border with the Gaza Strip. The technology is there to automate border security, until quick reaction forces can be on scene. Yes, this was a terrible attack, but it probably won’t happen again, in the same form. And there is no doubt that Israel is not going to let themselves be run over. They have The World’s support on this one, finally. You just can’t go about chopping off the

heads of babies, and appear to be on the winning side. It was a massive miscalculation by Hamas. There have been backlashes in several regards to this attack. Surprising ones. Over 30 Anti-Israel Harvard student groups are reeling, after their support of Hamas in a letter blaming Israel for the attack, backfired. The students were then doxxed, and are now under a black-list vow put on their heads by some of the nation's leading CEOs. The backlash has even hit Congress, where Representative Rashida Tlaib, from Michganistan, had posted a Palestinian flag in support of the terrorists outside her Capitol office. She was bombarded with questions asking if she supports the cutting off of babies' heads by Hamas, as well as the slaughter of over a thousand innocent Israelis. Talib’s initial silence showed her solidarity with the Palestinian terrorist, and her refusal to answer questions over the brutality, now has her facing censure or banishment from The House. I guess those days of chants of, “From the River to The Sea,” will go unheeded from now on. When your side decapitates innocent babies, it’s hard to come up with an explanation supporting evil. Both Hamas and Socialist Democrats use kids. Hamas uses their boys to train to kill Israeli little boys, girls, and adults. While Socialist Democrats use boys, when they are not aborting them; they turn them into little girls, who, if Candace Owens happens to walk into a room, they actually

feel threatened by her, and boohoo, whine and cry. You know what I say to that? ‘F-Your Feelings!!’ ‘ F - Yo u r E m o t i o n s . ’ ‘Grow up!!’ Democrats have put their influence into creating a wimp class of citizens with their safe spaces, who are unable to deal with any pressures outside their limited bubble zone. Those Dem little babies would be crapping their pants if they lived in Israel now. With transgenders, if you say one word they disagree with, then they try to shut you down. If they tried that with Hamas, they’d be executed on the spot. The lunacy of the Left can be seen everywhere. On ABC’s ‘The View,’ crazy Sunny Hostin, compared American Proud Boys to Hamas, which is simply ludacris. Google ‘Proud Boy violence’ and there might be one instance, tops. Then loony MSNBC anchor, Andrea Mitchell, tried to get an Israeli mother to sympathize with Hamas. This, after her house had been ransacked, and her two kids were kidnapped and taken to Gaza. The Democrat mainstream media is mad. And worse yet, CNN International’s Becky Anderson, outright blamed Israel for war crimes for responding to the Hamas attack. The Leftists, as well as Hardcore Socialist college students and their professors, that actively support Hamas, are the bane of freedom loving Americans. Times are changing, and not too long ago SocDems (short Socialist Democrats) were sitting on top of The World. The Louisiana

Governor's race over the weekend was a resounding win for the Trumped backed candidate, and showed that Blacks are serious in their support of Trump. T h e Wo r l d n e e d s Donald Trump. We don’t need weak leaders in these tense times. And I’m also lumping in the war loving Republican Establishment too, who have their hands in the pockets of American weapons manufacturers, like Nikki Haley, who served on a board of at least one defense contractor. I wonder if we have any of those in the county? Our ally Israel is hurting, so we are hurting. It’s sad that this attack has united The World for the wrong reasons. It showed us man’s inhumanity to man. Now Jews who supported ‘Black Live Matter’ are waking up to the fact that BLM supports Hamas. No one in their right mind goes around chopping off the heads of babies. No harm should come to little babies, in the womb or not. But sadly that’s what Hamas and Socialist Democrats do. Kill babies. The little poor things that now will never have a chance to live life, nor to go to a concert, nor have kids of their own. This attack by Hamas, the worst in over 50 years in Israel, is definitely a tipping point. Whoever Hamas’ Admiral Yamamoto was, he didn’t last that long. You don’t poke the bear. You don’t kill some cubs. And not expect the bear to react. And when that bear has the support of bigger bears. Well, it didn’t work out for Japan during WWII, and it’s not gonna work for Hamas in 2023.

The Houston Texans Add to the Win Column Sinking the Saints 20-13 By: James M. Rankin, Sportswriter Montgomery County News

Houston, Texas: The rebirth of the Houston Texans continued Sunday as the Texans took on the Saints in Reliant Stadium. It was an exciting game with all the twists and turns and ups and downs of a competitive football showdown. The Houston Texans' defense saved the day and secured the victory 20-13 against the New Orleans Saints. Houston Texans' first year quarterback C.J. Stroud broke the record last week for being an interception free quarterback on one hundred and eight-six (186) pass attempts; however, the streak was severed when Saints' linebacker Zack Baun picked off Stroud for the first time this season, yet fumbled the interception allowing the Texans to retain possession and getting a first down. This was due to the aggressive play of Nino Collins who jarred the ball loose. Stroud is a gifted athlete who scrambles in and out of the pocket to give his receivers time to get open. He connected on two (2) beautiful short touchdown passes to tight end Dalton Schultz in the corner of the endzone and to wide receiver Robert Woods in the center of the endzone.

houstonchronicle.com

Stroud finished the day with thirteen (13) completions on seventeen (17) attempts for one hundred and ninety-nine (199) yards. Texans' wide receiver Nico Collins looked impressive with four (4) receptions for eight (80) yards. The Texans' defense was the most improved Texans' squad with many players getting solo tackles. Linebacker Blake Cashman led the team with nine (9) solo tackles and six (6) assists. Texans' cornerback Steve Nelson got his second (2) interception of the year, along with five (5) solo tackles, in the closing second of the game to seal the Saints' fate. The special teams added to the mix with Te x a n s ' p l a c e k i c k e r Ka'imi Fairbairn with two (2) field goals, and punter Cameron Johnston is back

in the lineup and had a beautiful sixty-three (63) yard punt to pin the Saints deep in their territory. The Houston Texans are starting to unite as well organized, well prepared NFL franchise. Head Coach DeMeco Ryans is making tremendous progress with the team and might just win the division this season. In other AFC South action, the (4-2) Jacksonville Jaguars cork the (3-3)

Indianapolis Colts 37-20, and the (2-4) Tennessee Titans lost to the Baltimore Ravens 24-16. The Houston Texans are tied for second place in their division with the Colts. The (3-3) Houston Texans get a well-deserved bye this week and will travel to North Caroline to take on the (0-6) Carolina Panthers, so read all about it in your hometown paper.

There are all types of resorts around the world, but in the Caribbean, the all-inclusive resorts seem to be very popular. Like a cruise in which meals, rooms and entertainment are included, the difference is all-inclusive resorts also include alcohol. There are resorts like Sandals, that offer a more luxurious experience, sometimes including butler services. There are resorts that are more budget friendly that include everything, without being as luxurious as the higher end resorts. There are resorts that can fit any reasonable budget and still offer a great experience for a vacation. You may ask yourself, what can I experience in one of these all-inclusive resorts? You have multiple options whether you want to stay on the property or go explore the areas o u t s i d e t h e p r o p e r t y. When you stay on the

property, almost everything is included in your price. You have the option to purchase spa packages or upgrade to top shelf liquor that may not be included in more budget friendly resorts. Most resorts offer pools and waterparks for you to relax and cool off during the day with pool chairs and shady poolside cabanas or lounge chairs on the beach. Lots of the resorts offer amenities on the beach such as kayaks, snorkeling, water bikes, and even small sailboats. Many also offer scuba lessons and diving trips, which may not be included in the price. They also have a concierge desk to help you plan excursions that may not be offered by the resort such as fishing, tours, and shopping. Meals can be found any time of the day. They vary from buffet style of international foods to fancy specialty restaurants, such as steak houses, Italian cuisine, or other ethnic eateries on each property. Room service is also available if you feel like lounging in your room. They even have waiters to bring food out to you by the pool or on the beach. Resorts also have multiple bars around the property inside and outside, by the pool, in the

pool, and on the beach. You never have to go too far to get a drink and many times you have someone who will bring your Mai Tai or Tequilla Sunrise right to your lounge chair. In the evenings, there can be live concerts, dance shows, comedy, movies, foam parties and more. We recently visited Moon Palace in Cancun and they had wrestling to entertain

All-Inclusive Resorts

us. Grand Palace even had a bowling alley for family fun. There is even entertainment for the kids with kid’s clubs, water parks, arcades and some exclusive kid’s programs at certain resorts. Not all resorts allow kids, some are adults only and some are a little more Risqué than others while there are some resorts that allow older kids such as

teenagers. There are resorts that fit different lifestyles, and that is why when we work with our clients and try to get to know what they like, and try to match them up to with a resort that would be best for them. Regardless of what you like, there are many options for you with allinclusive resorts. There are many factors that will determine the right fit for

each traveler, whether it’s a specific location, time of year, or atmosphere that you are looking for, there is a perfect destination for you. But one thing is for sure, everyone could benefit from a vacation, or 2, every year. We can help you find the vacation that works for you at 777 Travel, call Arthur at 281541-1301.

Not only did the Rebel Belles participate in the Grand Opening of the Event, they were driven in from blocks away by SCV/SRT Escort, DOUG COLLINGS, in their “Limousine Golf-Cart”, on loan for the occasion by owner CARL HOWARD. MR HOWARD is a pastrecipient of the “RJOA President’s Red Feather Brigade Award” for his service and contributions for “above & beyond” to the Rebel Joan Of Arc Chapter.
