Texans 38-22 By: James M. Rankin, Sportswriter Montgomery County News Houston, Texas: Do not let the score fool you; it was a blow out. However, there were some moments of hope for the rest of the season. The H o u s t o n Te x a n s g e t Romped by the LA Rams 38-22. Despite the consistent penalties, marginal performance and poor coaching, the Houston Texans finally found the endzone after thirteen (13) quarters. During the fourth quarter, the Texans’ offensive team came alive and put up twenty-two (22) points in just twelve (12) minutes. This team has some talent they just need to know when to turn it on and keep it on. Without Mark Ingram, who was traded to New Orleans, the Texans relied on running back Rex Burkhead who had four (4) carries for twenty-one (21) yards and broke the touchdown drought for the team with a one (1) yard run. After the defense had a three and out, the Texans marched down the field ending the drive with a beautiful forty-five (45) yard toss to Brandin Cooks with their second score for the day. He ended the contest with six (6) receptions for eighty-three (83) yards. Cooks verbalized his disappointment in the trade of Mark Ingram to the Saints which made absolutely no logical sense to lose your stronger running back. Congratulations to the rookie tight end Brevin Jordan who had his first s c o r e a s Te x a n . T h e Defensive standouts were Jonathan Greenard who got another sack and had three (3) solo tackles along with Linebacker Vernon Hargreaves who had six (6) solo tackles and one (1) assist. T h e s e s m a l l improvements will help this team develop their confidence that will lead to their poise which will spark their peak performance. In all fairness, the Texans have played against the league’s best, so get ready fans for some victories in the second half of this season. In other AFC South divisional action, the Tennessee Titans beat the Indianapolis Colts in overtime 34-31 and the Jacksonville Jaguars were beaten up by the Seattle Seahawks 31-7. The Texans travel to Miami to take another struggling franchise who share a 1-7 record, so read about it in your hometown paper.
