MCTXSheriffAwarded“Jail InnovationoftheYear”by NationalSheriff’sAssociation

Since 2017 the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Jail leadership has continually pushed innovation in the education and rehabilitation efforts of the Jail Division. The leadership’s vision is to help those incarcerated acquire life skills that will empower them to be successful citizens while reducing the rateofrecidivism.

This vision has been realized by instituting over 15 programs, notably the V.E.T.S.program(Veterans Embracing the Tools for Success) and the High

SchoolInitiativeprogram.

The V.E.T.S. program was designed to provide Veteransincarceratedinthe Montgomery County Jail with valuable resources by partnering with different organizations to address any post incarceration needs and potentially provide employment opportunities to decrease therecidivismrate.

The High School Initiative program allows of-agehighschoolstudents who become incarcerated intheMontgomeryCounty Jail to continue their current school path If

students are no longer enrolled in school, the program still provides the studentstheabilitytoattain the high school equivalency certification, potentially decreasing the recidivismrate.

With such noteworthy successes, the Texas Jail Association Conference requested MCSO Jail leadership present the V.E.T.S. program and the High School Initiative program to the attendees.

These innovations in the corrections field have allowed the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to

The Montgomery CountySheriff’sOfficeJail Division has stood at the cutting edge of corrections and jail operations, and because of this, their preparedCOVIDresponse, and their service at the Texas border crisis, they have been awarded the NationalSheriff sAssociation Jail Innovation of the YearAward!

We want to thank all those whose efforts have been instrumental in the successoftheprograms.

I’m sure, by now, that beinga Christian takesa bit of courage since our churches have been attackedforliftingupthe name of Jesus and God. There are some who worship and have no defense against those kind of attackers who don’t care who they shoot old or young I knowIwouldneverwant to face God with any actionslikethat.

However, I’m sure God has won and will continue to win this fight against all odds and alldarkness.Wecanmeet all those odds with the couragegiventousbythe Lord When Jesus won

these battles for us as He was crucified for us, and died, thenwasresurrected to take His former place in glory, now waiting for ustojoinHimthere. What a great time this Christmasisforthosewhoread about what happened as Jesus was born! And don’t the children love this true story They love todoplaysaboutHimand about the angels singing, shepherds coming to see theBabyKingandfeeling the love of Our Savior Whataheavenlyvisionin alowlybarnforakingto be born! But that wasn’t Hisplacetobelowlyand quiet This pure, tiny King was serenaded by what?? A HOST OF

Now,allthiswasquite loud and lovely all at the same time! That is why I love this time of Christmas. The songs may not have been the songs of our time, but I m sure
