Texas United States Daughters Weekly Of 1812, Thomas Bay Gas Prices (November 29, 2021) Texas gas prices have fallen 6.0 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.94/g t o d a y, a c c o r d i n g t o GasBuddy's daily survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Gas prices in Texas are 12.0 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand $1.14/g higher than a year ago. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Texas is priced at $2.45/g today while the most expensive is $3.99/g, a difference of $1.54/g. The lowest price in the state today is $2.45/g while the highest is $3.99/g, a difference of $1.54/g. The national average price of gasoline has fallen 3.4 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.37/g today. The national average is down 1.4 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands $1.26/g higher than a year ago. Neighboring areas and their current gas prices: Midland Odessa- $3.05/g, down 2.3 cents per gallon from last week's $3.07/g. San Antonio- $2.79/g, down 3.8 cents per gallon from last week's $2.83/g. Austin- $2.91/g, up 0.4 cents per gallon from last week's $2.90/g. "Gas price declines are slowly picking up momentum. With oil's recent fall and the jury out on a new Covid variant, Omicron, we could be in store for lower prices based on many countries turning back to travel restrictions, limiting oil demand and potentially accelerating the drop in gas prices," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy. "There remains a very high level of uncertainty ahead of us as OPEC has also delayed its meetings to await more market movements and information on Omicron. But so far, Americans can expect the new variant to push gas prices even lower. Beyond the next few weeks, it remains nearly impossible to predict where oil and gas prices will head, though turbulence is guaranteed." GasBuddy is the authoritative voice for gas prices and the only source for station-level data spanning nearly two decades. Unlike AAA's once daily survey covering credit card transactions at 100,000 stations and the Lundberg Survey, updated once every two weeks based on 7,000 gas stations, GasBuddy's survey updates 288 times every day from the most diverse list of sources covering nearly 150,000 stations nationwide, the most comprehensive and up-to-date in the country. GasBuddy data is accessible at http://prices.GasBuddy.com. SOURCE GasBuddy

MCHD Awarded EMS Provider Of The Year At 2021 Texas EMS Conference M O N T G O M E RY COUNTY – Montgomery County Hospital District is pleased to announce we were chosen as this year’s EMS Provider of the Year a t t h e Te x a s E M S Conference in Austin, TX. We would like to thank Dr. S i r b a u g h w i t h Te x a s Children’s Hospital for the nomination. The 911 call in our nomination was a case involving 16-yearold Julieta Valdez, who suffered cardiac arrest last year. In May of 2020, Julieta, a 16-year-old freshman at The Woodlands High School, was working out with her sister in their home when she collapsed. Fortunately, her family knew just what to do: they called 911 and followed MCHD ALARM Medic III Scott McCully’s instructions closely. They performed CPR, along with McCully counting with them aloud, until Montgomery County Hospital District paramedics and firefighters from The
Wo o d l a n d s F i r e Department arrived at her home. After performing CPR, using an AED and, finally, after more than 20 minutes, paramedics Tyler Grisham and his partner, Attendant Paramedic Joseph O’Neill confirmed her pulses had returned. MCHD held a Save Reunion last year to honor the first responders who cared for Julieta that day.
She was so happy to reunite with the crews who will forever be a part of her chain of survival. In a letter she read aloud to the paramedics and first responders, she said in part, “With this new opportunity of life I have been graciously gifted by you, I feel like I have a greater purpose and want to make an impact as w e l l … E v e r y
accomplishment I have in life from now on, whether big or small, is because of you.” On behalf of Julieta and MCHD, we would like to, again, thank: Tyler Grisham (former MCHD In-Charge Paramedic) Joe O’Neill (MCHD

Houston, Texas: Reliant Stadium was full of expectant fans hoping for a turnaround in a bleak season of football. The two teams on the field shared many similarities such as a losing record of 2-8; however strangely enough, both teams defeated the top AFC team, the Tennessee Titans. T h e Te x a n s h a d momentum since snapping a seven-game losing streak the previous week. The team was facing the worst defensive team in the league that had allowed over four hundred (400) yards per game along with a returning rookie quarterback who had missed four (4) games. H o w e v e r, l o s i n g i s a dreadful habit. Despite the spark in the first half with Tyrod Taylor connecting with two (2) touchdown strikes with wide receiver Brandin Cooks and tight end Brevin Jordon for a forty (40) yard and a nine (9) yard TD respectively. The Texans’ offensive could not even garner half of the Jets’ with less than two hundred (200) yards of total offense. Despite the fact, that the Texans defense had the return of Defensive End Jon Greenard, who led the team in sacks. Even though t h e Te x a n s ’ d e f e n s e recorded four (4) sacks and an interception from defensive back Tavierre Thomas. Despite the effort, the H o u s t o n Te x a n s h a s embraced their position as a marginal football team. The offensive play calling is pathetic due to the predictability of the running attack and the lack of creativity from the coaching staff. The coaches benched their most senior defensive back Justin Reid for reasons undisclosed. This team needs an overall from the top down. I believe that the team has talent, yet without good coaching you are not going to win. It is my belief that you show me a coach that does not mind losing, then you have a losing coach, a losing team and a losing fan base. In other AFC South D i v i s i o n a l p l a y, t h e Tennessee Titans were trounced by the New England Patriots 36-13 avenging their 2020 playoff loss to the Titans; the Jacksonville Jaguars lost to the Atlanta Falcons 21-14; the Indianapolis Colts dropped a game to the Super Bowl champions, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3831. The Houston Texans entertains the Colts at home this Sunday in the second game of a three-game home streak, so read all about it in your hometown paper.

To ensure the safety of all pups, pet parents and employees, Dogtopia of The Woodlands West is taking extra safety precautions alongside their rigorous cleaning protocol. In addition to their curbside drop-off and pick-up services, Dogtopia maintains a custom cleaning program that utilizes pet-safe products that clean, disinfect and offer the highest level of safety available. The playrooms are sanitized twice daily when the pups are resting, and routine detail cleaning is performed throughout the day. Each playroom has a powerful HVAC system, with in-duct UV lighting that funnels air
out of the building to ensure clean, fresh air, and eliminates bad bacteria. Alongside providing quality care in a healthy, safe and fun daycare center for local pups, Dogtopia also launched the Dogtopia Foundation with the noble cause to enhance the joy of dog parenthood and enable dogs to positively change our world. Future-Focused Communication Can Help Your Heirs Flourish A weekly column by Kent Pendleton
Future-Focused Communication Can Help Your Heirs Flourish ESTATE AND GIVING Set your loved ones up for success with honest dialogue and a thoughtfully crafted planning framework. You’ve achieved a certain level of success, and you understand that the privileges of significant wealth come with challenges in equal measure. Among those challenges is
successfully passing your wealth and values on to the next generation. Without careful planning, almost 70% of heirs’ money, assets and family harmony disappear after an estate transition. You have the opportunity – while you’re living – to set your loved ones up for success, so to speak. A chance for open, honest communication, and for nurturing future-focused conversations about values, charitable giving and diligent stewardship. Estate planning is more than transferring money. It’s about what that money can do for future generations, and making room for your family to grow closer, stronger – to prosper. The conversations may be sensitive, but they’ll be
worthwhile. Don’t let your heir down Research and data clearly demonstrate that lack of transparency or a shared family vision can adversely impact the rising generation. To stack the odds in your favor, you’ll need to create a framework to help your heirs flourish, strengthening family unity. Family meetings can help solidify decision-making and wealth governance – providing a structure that supports and sparks m e a n i n g f u l , multigenerational dialogue. Each generation will have different ideas about how to use money to benefit their lives and those around them. While you may not always agree with your kids, give them a say

Attending a Livestock Auction With Daddy Weekly Column by Doyle Driver doyledriver@yahoo.com In my preteen years Daddy would sometimes take me out of school at n o o n o n F r i d a y, t o accompany him to the local livestock auction. I looked forward to those occasional father and son outings. However, the auction was held locally, but it wasn’t a local only affair. Farmers and ranchers from allover North Texas and Southern Oklahoma began bringing sheep, Hogs, horses, saddles, goats and cattle to the Lindsey Auction Barn early in the week. By the time Noon Friday came around, all the stables, stalls and pens were overflowing with animals. Daddy always wanted to be seated in the arena for the noon start of the auction. Now the Lindsey Auction Barn wasn’t just for selling livestock and other items. Vannoy Taylor and her Mother Myrtle Lindsey had opened a full-blown restaurant underneath the seating area of the barn. It was really a pretty goodsized Café. I always enjoyed going there for Mrs. Lindsey and Vannoy knew me. Mrs. Lindsey was my former bus driver and we hit it off on the
first day of school. They served A Blue Plate Special filled with roast beef and a couple of vegetables for a dollar, and the best hamburgers and chili in town. Daddy most always had the Blue Plate and it was a tossup between a hamburger and her great Bowl of Chili accompanied by a Delaware Punch. Once we’d eaten, Daddy and I found our seats high up in the bleachers. There we saw everyone and watched as quick wranglers moved livestock into and out of the ring. Once in the ring the Auctioneer began his fast pace chatter persuading bidders to nod or wave and place their bid. It might have seemed boring to some, but to me it was the spice of life as I watched and wondered if Ebner’s Packing, Wrights or Cummings Packing Company would make the next bid and for what price. Sometimes in summer when crops were laid by and cool weather began to move in, Daddy would load up his trailer behind our old pickup and head for the Auction Barn. Once we arrived there was a line of other farmers
and ranchers bringing their stock in to be sold, either at auction or to any one of a number of buyers trying t buy low and hope the auction sold them for a profit. Daddy never sold his cattle to one of the buyers. I suppose he had more confidence in the auction price. Whatever they brought, it was ore fun to wait and watch as his stock were auctioned by the fast talking auctioneer. It’s been close to eighty years since I’ve been to a livestock auction. Oh yes, they still have them in some parts of the country and I’ve driven by with a deep desire to stop and have a Blue Plate Special, a Big Hamburger or a Great Bowl of Texas Red with saltine crackers and a Delaware Punch. I lay not stopping to I don’t have time, but perhaps the underlying reason is I’m afraid that the adventure won’t live up to expectations of the past. Or perhaps it’s knowing they are out of Delaware Punch! Driver is a Native Texan born and reared in Hardeman and can be r e a c h e d a t doyledriver@yahoo.com.

THE WOODLANDS, TX —SAVE THE DATE! Rotary Club of The Wo o d l a n d s ’ a n n u a l fundraising gala, An Evening of Elegance, will be held February 12, 2022, at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. This year’s theme is Mardi Gras, with the tagline, “Laissez les bon temps rouler.” This year’s gala will honor US Congressman Kevin and Cathy Brady for their decades of service to the community and our nation. Last year, the Rotary Evening of Elegance was forced to go virtual due to Covid concerns, and we are grateful that our sponsors made the shift with us so that we were able to raise the funds needed to support the many programs of Rotary. In the true spirit of Mardi Gras, we have named Tammy and Danny Schroder as King and Queen of the Mardi Gras Ball. Rotary House, one of the recipients of the proceeds of the event. “We love Rotary, and we love Mardi Gras, so we’re a perfect match to lead the committee this year.” This event will reflect the pageantry of a Mardi Gras Ball, replete with costumes, floats, and the unmistakable sounds of brass from a second line. The evening will feature a bid board, live auction, dinner, and a program paying tribute to the Bradys, as Congressman Brady closes the chapter on his many years of service. Rotary Club of The Woodlands was established in 1975. The cornerstone of Rotary is service - in the community and throughout the world. Rotarians build goodwill and peace, provide humanitarian service, and encourage high ethical standards in all vocations. The Rotary motto is "Service Above Self" and is based upon the Four Pillars: is it the truth, is it fair to all concerned, will it build goodwill and better friendships, and will it be beneficial to all concerned? Rotary Club of The Woodlands is committed to
both service in the community and fellowship and friendship among its members. Rotarians can be found ringing bells for the Salvation Army at Christmas, sharing meals with the kids at the Yes to Youth shelter, making home improvements for a family in need, donating blood, mentoring elementary school students, hosting international exchange students, funding polio eradication, and participating in disaster relief and response. Through The Woodlands Rotary Club Foundation, Rotary raises funds and provides tens of thousands of dollars in annual scholarships to local high school and Lone Star College students. In 2018, the Rotary Club established Rotary House which provides a place to stay for out-of-town families and patients receiving extended medical treatment in the Woodlands area. Funds from the Evening of Elegance Gala will support this and the many programs of Rotary. “This is a fitting tribute to our very own fellow Rotarian Kevin and his wonderful wife Cathy. Devotional THE FIRST GIFT OF CHRISTMAS - LONG, LONG AGO Spreading the Word
By Gail J. Box Gailbox@consolidated.net
We read in our Bible about God being a giver of gifts, beginning in Genesis with the formation of all things in on earth and in heaven. We read in the first pages of our Bible where God created our beautiful earth, sky, and seas. Then He filled it with light, darkness, and land. Also, there came seeds, vegetation, night, day, sun, moon, and stars, as well as birds and “beasts.” Then came man, woman, and all
plants for food. We could almost say it was like “heaven-on-earth.” It could be said at that time, God had created all of those “gifts” for mankind t o e n j o y, a w a y f r o m heaven. So when Adam and Eve disobeyed God, the original gift was tarnished for many times to come. Then we come to Abraham. He was a great man of God, and was blessed by God. As He came to the end of his years on earth, Abraham established the giving of a great gift that may be carried on in families today. We read this: “Now Abraham

gave all that he had to Isaac.” Genesis 25: 5. Yes, of course all children are very precious to each of us. The grandchildren are also a great gift. That means our name and our inheritance will continue on throughout the life we live here. I like this scripture also mentioned in Psalm 127: 3… “Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward.” Since the very first of our creation, all mankind has been awaiting to be renewed and re-done with a new earth. John speaks about it here:
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there is no longer any sea.” Revelation 21:1. So according to scripture, we are all due a new gift of a new earth to come. As we continue, God’s plan for His people is on-going. We await that beautiful new earth to be unveiled as the greater gift! Yet…there is a much more important gift for all mankind which has already come to earth, gone back to heaven, and will be coming back to us soon. It is a different gift

that was created in God’s plans for us, many years before earth began. Yes, Jesus and the Father knew man would not keep the promise of not tasting the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. It was planned, then, that the woman would have pain in childbirth, and that man would have to work and farm the dirt of earth to get food to eat for all the days of his life. So Adam was the father of all coming generations, and there were many. All the gifts God has given man from the beginning of life are listed in the first three
books of our Bible. And man and woman were clothed in this way: “Now the man called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all the living. The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.” Genesis 3: 20 – 21. U n f o r t u n a t e l y, then God drove them both from the garden, and they were on their own to provide for themselves because of their disobedience of God’s law. In a few weeks, we’ll know the beginning of God’s wonderful gift to the whole world!
