35th Annual Christmas in Historic Montgomery Texas This Saturday, December 8, 8am to 8pm Weekly Gas Price Texas , December 3Average retail gasoline prices in Texas have fallen 1.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.12/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 3.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.39/g, according to gasoline price w e b s i t e TexasGasPrices.com. Including the change in gas prices in Texas during the past week, prices yesterday were 4.4 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 11.8 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 11.3 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 10.0 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago. "While the national average continues to fall, we've done the math- the yearly average in 2012 is all but guaranteed to set all time record highs," said G a s B u d d y. c o m S e n i o r Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. "We still stand at $3.63/gal for a yearly average, and gasoline prices would need to average no more than $2.35/gallon for every day left in 2012 for the national yearly average to drop below 2011, something that appears impossible. In the meanwhile, we have lowered our forecast for Christmas gasoline prices to average between $3.25$3.35/gallon," DeHaan said. A b o u t TexasGasPrices.com GasBuddy operates TexasGasPrices.com and over 250 similar websites that track gasoline prices at over 140,000 gasoline stations in the United States and Canada. In addition, GasBuddy offers a free smartphone app which has been downloaded over 20 million times to help motorists find gasoline prices in t h e i r a r e a . I n Te x a s , GasBuddy tracks price changes at 13,114 retail outlets.

Successfully Driver of big rig escapes being crushed 5Prosecuted and Sentenced for Shooter's Station Burglary in 2009 In the early morning hours of December 14, 2009, Shooter's Station, a gun store, located on SH 105 just west of Conroe was burglarized and 81 firearms were stolen. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office along with agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) began an investigation which led them to the Bryan/College Station, See Shooter’s Station p. 8

An 18-wheel truck driver lost control of his rig while traveling northbound on FM 149 south of Montgomery, Monday afternoon. Road conditions at that time were bright, dry and clear. It appeared that the truck hauling cinder blocks and metal rebar went off the right shoulder of the farm-to-market road, over corrected and flipped, crushing the roof of the rig flat then landing back upright, trapping the driver in a tangled debris strewn mess. Rescue crews from Montgomery FD rushed to the scene and started to untangle the mangled truck from around the distressed driver, after a half hour of intense extraction the driver was finally freed from his would be metal cage. According to Battalion Chief R. Griffith there were no obvious or serious external injuries, Chief Griffith said, "since the extraction took so long and because there was no way to determine if the male driver had internal injuries the decision was made by MCHD Medics and us to transport by air to Houston". At the time of air transport the driver was considered to be in serious but stable condition. MCN could not get additional information because of press and time restraints.

Faison Everywhere & Where The Prettiest People Live Faison Everywhere By Sharon Faison Travel Consultant & ELITE Cruise Counselor

WHAT ARE THE TOP 18 CITIES WITH THE PRETTIEST PEOPLE? Please note that Montgomery, Willis, Conroe or Houston are not on the list. What do they know? Didn't your momma always tell you Beauty is in the Eyes of the Beholder, andBeauty is only Skin Deep? A new study is revealing which cities are the most attractive - and have the hottest people http://www.travelandleisure .com/> Travel + Leisure asked readers to rate 35 different metropolitan areas on factors including fashion sense, fitness level, music scene and peoplewatching. According to the <http://www.dailymail.co.u k/news/article-2239662/Studyranks-Americas-best-worstcities-good-lookingpeople.html> Daily Mail, Miami took first place for having the most beautiful people. And how could they not, in a city filled with beaches and lots of itsy bitsy bikinis. Other top contenders include San Diego, San Juan and Charleston. Here' the winning list of top attractive cities: Number 1: Miami Number 2: San Diego Number 3: San Juan Number 4: Charleston Number 5: Los Angeles Number 6: Nashville Number 7: Austin, Texas Number 8: Savannah, Ga. Number 9: Honolulu Number 10: Minneapolis/St. Paul Number 11: San Francisco Number 12: Santa Fe Number 13: Providence

Number 14: Denver Number 15: New York City Number 16: Chicago Number 17: Kansas city Number 18: San Antonio Let's assume men made up the list, coast to coast. So what guidelines did the men use to make their choices? 1 0 Tr a i t s M e n F i n d Attractive in a Woman - When we talk about attraction, we are not talking about lust (which is also a form of attraction). A man can be physically attracted to a woman, without any feelings of love, and this form of attraction is purely primal and is focused completely on the "body" of the woman involved. What we are talking about, in this article, is the attraction which is synonymous with love. Relationships are built on a love based attraction, so what's important would be know the traits in a woman, that men find most attractive, which makes them fall in love. Traits Men Find Attractive in a Woman - The following are some of the traits that guys find attractive in women. The list in not in any particular order of preference, and it can be assumed that the 10 factors make an impact in unison. Soft heartedness-Men are more likely to fall in love with a woman who is soft, or warm, hearted, than a woman who is cold. Guys love to be mothered (not nagged but cared for), and so they tend to fall for a woman who offers them acceptance and warmth. This would have to be the trait that men find most attractive in women. Modesty - Men fall in love with the "modest" girls, and lust after the "hot" ones. Modesty in behavior, dressing and talking is what men look for in their "long-term" partner. Though guys find "hot" women attractive, it's mostly physical in nature and they lose interest after a few passionate

encounters in the bed. There is also a common consent among men that "hot" women are less reliable, and high maintenance. In short, men love women who they can take home to their mother. Character - Men are attracted to a woman who projects a strength of character and integrity. The word "fidelity" is becoming rarer nowadays even among women, who were historically more loyal of the two, and men find this to be bad news. So men are constantly on the look out for a woman who can invoke trust th r ough h er s tr en g th o f character. The Woman's voice Women are naturally endowed with a beautiful voice which men find highly attractive. Some men love a strong voice in a woman, some prefer a soft tone, with a low pitch. Some women have a husky voice and many guys find that attractive too. Surveys have indicated that women subconsciously lower their voice when talking with a potential mate. Facial Features - It's beyond the scope of this article to discuss all the facial features that play a part in attraction, but some of them are the eyes and the eyebrows, lips, facial cut and symmetry, nose and definitely the smile. * Smile - A smile can easily win over a male heart. If, as a girl, you are prone to having a smiling face you are more likely to be approached by guys than when you have a smug, or frowning, face. * Lips - Surveys have indicated that men find fuller lips on a woman more attractive as they reflect the woman's health and fertility. * Eyes and Eyebrows - Next to the smile and the lips, this is another facial feature that men See Pretty People p. 7

Crusin Cape Conroe Cape Conroe Christmas Decorations to be judged December 10th Cruisin’ Cape Conroe By Dorotha Ruthstrom

The Cape Conroe POA invites everyone to participate in the annual Christmas lighting contest and say that judges will be out evening of December 10th to compare, critique and choose winners for 2012. Good luck to all! Are you already thinking beyond Christmas and into year 2013? If so, you might be interested in following information about upcoming events planned for Montgomery Campus of Lone Star College. One of the events is the ALL (Adult Lifelong Learning) Open House in January. I received email about this event because I, along with Mary Stricker and Kathy Faulkner, are ALL members. ALL offers classes, lectures, etc. of interest to adults. One category of classes considers health issues

and includes "Doc Talk." In the Doc Talk classes, health questions are answered by health care professionals from Memorial Hermann The Woodlands. One of these professionals is a cardiac specialist and his comments about best times to drink water to maximize effectiveness on the body were included in my email from LSC and are shared below: Two (2) glasses of water after waking up helps activate internal organs. One (1) glass 30 minutes before a meal helps digestion. One (1) glass before taking a bath helps lower blood pressure. One (1) glass before going to bed helps avoid stroke or heart attack. The physician also suggested that water at bedtime will help prevent night time leg cramps. He explained, "Your leg muscles are seeking hydration when they cramp and wake you up with a Charlie Horse." Now, that's reason enough to drink more water. Those Charlie Horses that sit you straight up in bed at night moaning loud enough for the

next-door neighbors to hear are no fun! Now that we have our Charlie Horse nightmare solved, how about those elusive technology challenges. How many of you brave souls who are already sporting silver hair, but determined not to be left behind, sometimes find yourself so knee deep in computer mishmash that you call on one of your tech savvy youngsters for help. Seems this was happening often enough that some techies from Google got together a few years ago and created TeachParentsTech.org. This is a great website that offers more than 50 two-minute videos with step-by-step instructions on everything from how to cut and paste copy to creating a blog. Great help for us "old" techies when the young ones are nowhere around. Have fun! Have a great week one day at a time! Send your Cape Conroe n e w s t o druthstrom@cebridge.net.

Don't Raise Taxes on Small Businesses Capitol Comment Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison

Americans are understandably uncertain about the full extent of the damage to our economy if Congress and the White House fail to agree on deficit reduction and taxes to avoid the January 1, 2013 "fiscal cliff." But most taxpayers do know that their taxes are going up on January 1 if agreement isn't reached. I still believe that a timely, bipartisan agreement can be finalized. But time is growing short, and the White House and Congressional leaders need to commit to serious negotiations. Thus far, the President has only talked about tax increases on "wealthy" taxpayers (individuals who make more than $200,000 and joint filers who make more than $250,000). If the President gets his way, however, hundreds of thousands of small businesses would be hit by these higher taxes and new hiring would remain

weak. Most small business owners declare business profits on their personal tax returns and are taxed at the personal tax rates. In the most recent year for which data is available, 4.3 million small businesses filed and paid taxes at individual tax rates. Of those, 1.2 million would be affected by the proposed tax increase. Small businesses are the engines of our economy. They are responsible for driving most of the job growth in this country, providing approximately 55 percent of private sector jobs. And the most dynamic job-creators are found within the 1.2 million small businesses that would be hit with higher taxes. On my June bus tour in central and south Texas, I talked to a number of small business owners about what higher taxes would mean. In Uvalde, I talked to Donald McLaughlin of DKM Enterprises, who owns a steel salvage and distribution company. His is among America's tens of thousands of small and medium-sized manufacturers, many of them centers of cuttingedge technology and employers of some of the most skilled

workers in the world. Nearly seven out of eight of small manufacturers pay their taxes at personal income tax rates. These companies already pay higher taxes than competitors in Germany and China. Raising their taxes even more will make them less competitive, and opportunities to grow and create more good-paying jobs will be lost. Also set to take effect on January 1 is a huge jump in the estate tax, referred to as the "death tax" by small-business owners. If action isn't taken, when a family business owner dies, his or her survivors will pay a 55 percent estate tax on assets: equipment, land and inventory. The increase will boost death tax liabilities by more than one-third on most family-owned businesses and threaten to force many to close and liquidate in order to pay the IRS. Particularly hard-hit will be ranchers and farmers, who could be forced to sell land in an unfavorable real-estate market. Proposed tax rate hikes would come on top of the Obamacare taxes that begin in earnest in 2013: higher Medicare healthinsurance taxes, a new health-

insurance penalty tax, costs of government health-insurance mandates, and taxes on employers that provide relatively generous coverage. The Joint Committee on Taxation projects that, beginning in 2013, the costs of Obamacare on small businesses will rise to more than $100 billion per year. In addition there will be a 3.8 percent surcharge on capital gains and dividend taxes. The looming fiscal cliff could set back our economy and our small businesses for years. Higher taxes will hammer down job growth and make only a small dent in the huge budget deficit which will exceed $1 trillion for the fourth consecutive year. We need serious engagement in Washington on the two critical issues: reducing skyrocketing federal spending and enacting comprehensive tax reform. It is the only way to get the economy back on track. In the next few weeks, I'll be putting forward my ideas on these two crucial problems. Hutchison, a Republican, is the senior U.S. senator from Texas.

Following Obama Victory, U.S. Backs New U.N. Arms Treaty Talks By "Doc" Fennessy If you are in the National Rifle Association (NRA), a hunter or gun owner you should be interested in this international treaty issue that could kick back on us now that it was kept quiet by our liberal media until President Obama got re-elected. It seems to come to light lately, that the massmedia of communications kept several issues in the dark so it would not hurt or have a negative impact on the re-election of Obama. Of course, now that Obama is in a dictatorial position after the stupid election results, and now anything can happen to disarm the United States military [a trillion dollars Obama cut that is not being publicized widely as yet] then the private gun owners lose their guns [that are registered] and the Brotherhood of Muslins' terrorists take over the country??? The following was posted on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 9:32am by Tiffany Gabbay in "THE BLAZE". Just hours after President Barack Obama secured a second term in the White House, the United States supported the United Nations (UN) in its bid Wednesday to reignite talks over an international treaty regulating the $70 billion global conventional arms trade, according to

[Reuters:] U.N. delegates and gun control activists have complained that talks collapsed in July largely because Obama feared attacks from Republican rival Mitt Romney if his administration was seen as supporting the pact, a charge Washington denies. The month-long talks at U.N. headquarters broke off after the United States - along with Russia and other major arms producers said it had problems with the draft treaty and asked for more time. A U.S. official said Washington's goals have always been the same. "We seek a treaty that contributes to international security by fighting illicit arms trafficking and proliferation, protects the sovereign right of states to conduct legitimate arms trade, and meets the concerns that we have been articulating throughout," the official said. "We will not accept any treaty that infringes on the constitutional rights of our citizens to bear arms." According to Reuters, U.S. officials have also acknowledged - albeit in private - that the treaty would not infringe on domestic gun ownership or sales and would only affect exports. Reuters adds: The main reason the arms trade talks are taking place at all is that the United States - the world's biggest arms

trader accounting for more than 40 percent of global conventional arms transfers - reversed U.S. policy on the issue after Obama was first elected and decided in 2009 to support a treaty. The United Nations (UN) General Assembly's disarmament committee wasted no time after Obama's re-election to approve a resolution calling for renewed talks March 18-28. The votes to hold new talks passed overwhelmingly. Diplomats allege that the vote was actually slated to take place prior to the U.S. presidential election but was delayed due to Hurricane Sandy. Is a deal mere months away? According to Reuters, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Sudan, Belarus, Cuba and Iran all abstained from voting on the treaty. China, however, voted in favor. Meanwhile, Britain, France and Germany joined China and the U.S. in support of the measure, which is expected to pass during a vote by the General Assembly. Jeff Abramson, director of the gun control advocacy group, Control Arms, urged members states to sign on to stringent provisions, according to Reuters. "In Syria, we have seen the death toll rise well over 30,000, with weapons and ammunition

pouring in the country for months now," Abramson said. "We need a treaty that will set tough rules to control the arms trade, that will save lives and truly make the world a better place." Brian Wood of Amnesty International said: "After today's resounding vote, if the larger arms trading countries show real political will in the negotiations, we're only months away from securing a new global deal that has the potential to stop weapons reaching those who seriously abuse human rights." What's more: The treaty would require states to make respecting human rights a criterion for allowing arms exports. Britain's U.N. mission said on its Twitter feed it hoped that the March negotiations would yield the final text of a treaty. Such a pact would then need to be ratified by the individual signatories before it could enter into force. The National Rifle Association has vehemently opposed the treaty. Delayed negotiations on the part of the Obama administration likely point to political reasons that could have hindered his reelection bid. We shall see what happens in the mystical Obama Administration on this issue in 2013, and until then "THE BEAT GOES ON!"

'Twas the Night Before Fiscal Cliff By Nick Thomas 'Twas the night before Fiscal Cliff, and throughout the land, Democrats, Republicans were taking a stand. Their positions unwavering, intractably firm, With donkey-like stubbornness or entrenched pachyderm. But the public were hopeful all snug in their beds, With visions of compromise alive in their heads. "Come on!" said the people in frustrated dismay. “Abandon this meaningless partisan fray.” When Obama and Boehner finally met, Their first thoughts were not of a country in debt. And Obama, the chief, said to Boehner "Oh crap! I'd rather depart for a nice

winter's nap." "I know," sighed Boehner "I've plenty to do, Was planning to take a vacation or two." "Never mind," said the Prez, "we'll just keep delaying, Who cares what the grumbling public are saying." But out in the blogosphere there arose such a clatter, The people revolted, resolving this matter: "There's only one way to deal with such fools Obama and Boehner must settle by duel." "No way!" said Obama, "I'm renowned for my peace. "With a medal of proof on my lounge mantlepiece." "I agree" cried Boehner, not eager to battle, And caught the first plane heading out to Seattle.

"Come back," yelled the people, "we demand this by right, You've had chances to talk, now you settle this fight." But the pair, reunited, were far from impressed, As the thought of a duel made them rather depressed. As he pondered alternative White House residents, Obama now saw why we have the vice presidents. Quick thinking, as always, to Biden he beckoned, "Get over here Joe, and I'll make you my second." "Now Joe I expect you'll appear around dawn, To face off with Boehner on the White House's lawn." "Yeah right!" smiled old Joe, "Would love to assist, I ain't packing no pistol - what if I missed?" And then, in a twinkling,

Obama's next step, Was to call up more buddies, to be his next rep. "Now Pelosi! Now Clinton! Now Durbin and Reid! But all vanished from Washington with notable speed. "Oh dear," mused Obama, "now what shall I do?" So he phoned up Boehner for a quick rendezvous. "My friend, we are beaten, let's abandon aggression." "Agreed," said the Speaker, "it's time for concession." So they sprang into action, both recommending, Adding some taxes and cutting some spending. Then I heard them exclaim, "We've reached a consensus! Good-bye Fiscal Cliff, we've come to our senses."

Union Grove Baptist Church adult choir will present the Gailbox@consolidated.net Christmas Musical, "Gather at the Manger". Join us on Sunday night, December 16 at 6:00 pm for the musical. The 851-2540 for info or further directions. strains of "Peace on earth; good Family Faith Church invites you to come and enjoy the true will to men..." seemed to touch spirit of Christmas, "Home for Christmas", with Bill and Renee my heart in a strong way. We Morris. This wonderful Christmas spectacular will be one that can still return to that first your whole family will enjoy, featuring world renowned television Christmas in the two books of Luke and Matthew. Last week artists, Bill and Renee Morris. we explored Luke's book of Family Faith Church truth as he said he had "investiThursday, December 20th at 7:00pm gated everything carefully from 202 South Thomason the beginning..." Luke 1:3. Willis, TX 77378 Now, Matthew, who was one 936-291-9458 of the twelve apostles, gives us a view of the birth of Jesus. Since Matthew's book is written with mostly the Jews in mind, he begins immediately with the

geneology of the life of Jesus. Then he goes right into circumstances surrounding Mary and Joseph. Why? Because he wants the Jews to understand that the birth of Jesus was real, true, and prophesied to come about all through the Old Testament scriptures. In Chapter Two, he quotes these words from Micah in the Old Testament: "And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah.....for out of you shall come forth a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel." Micah 2:6. The next happening after the birth of Jesus, Matthew relates the part of the story of Jesus where King Herod deals with the magi, coming to Israel to find the Christ Child. They were kings from the east and said this to Herod: "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we

seen His star in the east and have come to worship Him." Matthew 2:2. I definitely remember when my two children were born. Every baby is special, but the birth of Jesus stands out as kings and angels revered Him. And the magi who came were from a caste of wise men who specialized in astronomy, astrology, and natural science. Through their years of research, they knew this had to be the King they traveled to find - the Messiah. After the wise men finished with Herod, they continued on their way, following a beautiful bright star until it rested over the house where Jesus lived. The scripture then says: "When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy." Matthew 2:10. At that point, each of the magi entered, fell to the ground,

and worshipped as Mary and Joseph watched in wonder. Gifts of great expense were given to Jesus. God, our only Wise God, caused all these important events to happen to show the world how very special and real this Child was, and still is. The Lord wanted all to know, from the common shepherds to the great kings, how marvelous the birth of His Son was Whom He sent to save all mankind. I'm so glad that these Apostles wrote about all these things that happened around the birth of Jesus. They were real men who lived in hard times. And yet they were willing to record and leave us the legacy concerning the life of the Son of God. Each year I never tire of reading of how exciting it must have been for the shepherds and the wise men to see the miracles of God. But then, there is more to come.....

Sports 11-1 Houston Texans Clinches Richards Boys Varsity the AFC Division with a win Basketball Results To Date: 24-10 victory over the Titans

Arian Foster was not a factor in the win with the Titans, yet the Texans' defense rose to the occasion. Photo by Rankin Images James M. Rankin Published Book Author, Free Lance Writer & MCN Sports Writer Houston, Texas: It must have been a tough day for Titans’ owner Bud Adams who will turns ninety (90) years of age next month. The man who brought NFL football to Houston with the Oilers watched the newest franchise that carries the Houston name clinch the divisional crown with a resounding win over the struggling Tennessee Titans 24-10. It wasn’t the prettiest win for this dynamic young team, and it was enough for Coach Kubiak to feel guilty that he didn’t do enough in the second half with his talented offense team. The divisional rival the (4-8) Tennessee Titans couldn’t get their offense in gear against one of the top defensive team in the league. The Houston Texans, after lighting up the score board in the

first half by dominating the offensive side of the ball with three (3) scores including a terrific six (6) play, eighty (80) yard drive in the first quarter ending with a stop and go route with Texans’ wide receiver Lestar Jean for his only reception for a big time score. However in the second half, the Houston Texans’ play makers wide receiver Andre Johnson and running back Arian Foster were not drawn in the game plan on this afternoon. Texans’ quarterback Matt Schaub was solid with twenty-one (21) completions on thirty-five (35) attempts for two hundred and seven (207) yards and zero interceptions. The Texans ‘Raging Bulls on Parade’ were the stars of the show with six (6) turnovers. Despite the injuries in key positions, the Texans’ talent pool is so deep that the defense didn’t miss a beat; especially, with rookie Linebacker Whitney Mercilus on his first start had two (2) sacks. Other players getting in the batted ball business were Shaun Cody and

Earl Mitchell, and the defensive backs Brandon Harris and Roc Carmichael held their own against the Tennessee Titans’ offensive receiving core. The two defensive backs had a combined total of nine (9) tackles. The story for the season continues to be Texans’ defensive lineman JJ Watts who added to his totals with two (2) swatted balls along with a handful of tackles along with a sack. In other AFC South division play, the Jacksonville Jaguars (210) lose to the Buffalo Bills 34-18, and the Indianapolis Colts (8-4) win a close one against the Detroit Lions 35-33 in the closing seconds. Perhaps the biggest game of the season will next week when the Houston Texans step back into the prime time lime light on Monday Night Football to take on the New England Patriots. The Patriots also won their division this past week. This game could be a sneak peek into the AFC Divisional Championship title game, so read all about it in your hometown paper.

Don’t Start The New Year With A Holiday Spending Hangover!

Amegy Bank Offers Five Tips to Help You Manage Your Expenses This Holiday Season

HOUSTON (November 20, 2012) – The holidays are the most festive time of year, but the added expenses of gifts, celebrations and traveling can have a significant impact to people’s finances. “Most consumers are spending more throughout the holiday season, and it’s easy to forget that extra expenses here and there can add up quickly,” says Amegy Bank Retail and Business Banking Manager Chuck Bowman. “If consumers are not careful with how they are managing their finances now, they risk starting the New Year with last year’s debt.”Amegy Bank offers the following tips to help shoppers keep holiday spending under control and start the New Year off on the right track. * Make a budget. Consider

your income, savings and expenses, and develop a budget before you start your shopping. If you begin the season with a plan, you are much less likely to overspend. Don’t forget about other expenses that come with the season, such as gift wrapping, postage, decorations, charitable donations, food and travel. * Stay organized. Make a list of every person or party that you need to shop for and how much you want to spend. As you make your purchases, keep track of your spending so can make sure that you are sticking to your budget. Also, save your receipts so that you can compare them to your credit card statement and can return something if necessary. Staying organized will help you to plan

for the next year as well. * Do your homework and spend carefully. Take advantage of the new technology and tools available to help you do your research before making a big purchase. There is an abundance of information available online and through mobile apps to help shoppers learn more about products, compare prices and find deals. Be an informed consumer and give yourself plenty of time to shop. If you are rushed, overwhelmed or distracted, you are more likely to overspend and break your budget. * Be mindful of credit card expenses. While it’s important to be mindful of how you use your credit cards all year round, the holidays bring so many extra expenses that it’s especially

important to make sure that you are using credit carefully. Try to limit holiday purchases to one card, preferably one with a lower interest rate. Make a plan for when you will pay off your holiday purchases and commit to paying off the balances by a specific date. Also, avoid traps that might hurt your credit later, such as applying for a store credit card that you don’t need in order to get a one-time discount. * Be creative. Another way to control your holiday expenses is to be creative with your gifts. Consider making home-made gifts, crafts or baked goods for the people on your list this year. Hand-made items, written notes and gift certificates that use your talents are generally less expensive,

and people will appreciate the personal gesture. Just make sure that you account for these costs in your budget. Incorporating these tips into your shopping strategy will help you manage your expenses and insure that you don’t start 2013 with a holiday spending hangover. Added Bowman, “If you can stick to your financial plan during a busy holiday season, then you are creating a great foundation of healthy financial habits in the New Year.” About Amegy Bank of Texas Amegy Bank of Texas is a leading Texas bank with $12 billion in assets.
