Organisational Review During AIM 2010 in Berlin, CISV approved a consulting firm called BlueSpark to conduct an Organisational Review.

The purpose of this investment is to analyze the way CISV works, understand its strengths and weaknesses, and propose ways to improve. After a year of hard work, research, analysis and interesting discoveries, the results of the Review have been published.

How does this affect the JB? Our IJRs have written a summary of the review and its impact on Junior Branch. --Interesting indeed!

CONFLICT AND RESOLUTION

The IJB Team is pleased to share with the rest of the JB Community and CISV Int. some of the various initiatives carried out by juniors all over the world in support of the 2011 theme.

We also hope these activities serve as ideas for future ones.

DENMARK “I Throw a Prejudice in the

“I have a conflict with you”

Participants were introduced to several real communities and were asked to think about different conflicts that were actually happening in there. Afterwards, in groups, they had to discuss and come up with various possible solutions for all the conflicts taking into account resources and viability.

“For me peace is...” | “Apprentice Project” “Retrato regional” | Story telling at an orphanage Donation of school supplies | “Peace One Day” Fundraising activities for the Amazonian IPP Many different activities were hosted by JBs from Brazil centered around the concepts of power, conflict, religion, integration, racism and peace.

Many of these activities were held in collaboration with other programs like Mosaic, IPP and CISV Brazil’s Board. You can read more about these activities on their JB Pedia Page!

BRAZIL

NORWAY Activities run by the JB at the norwegian Summer Camps and Villages.

The activities held were focused on art, creativity and drawing. Based on Friedrich Glasl’s NineStage Model of Conflict Escalation, delegates had to draw a cartoon/comic showing the escalation of a conflict and its peaceful resolution. All activities ended with a really interesting debriefing.

As a group, participants had to identify prejudices in a story, brainstorm possible identities from people in pictures and discuss the connection between language and stereotyping. In the end, each participant chose a prejudice to “throw away” symbolizing acceptance towards others.
