Long-Term Benefits Of Water Flossing.
Traditionally personal oral hygiene starts with brushing and flossing. Interdental cleaning is a key step in a personal oral care regimen. Flossing is considered the gold standard of interdental care. A great benefit of flossing is that it reduces interproximal caries (cavities which start in between the teeth). Sometimes due to arthritis or other health problems could make flossing difficult and when given choice patients readily choose other interdental devices such as brushes and floss holders over floss. Studies have shown that if the product is cumbersome or difficult to use then it is not used as often as it should or not used at all. This holds true even in a life-or-death situation, for example one out of eight people who have had a heart attack stopped taking all the medications after one month of the hospital discharge. Compliance with oral hygiene is no different. data shows that only 2% to 10% of the population floss

regularly and effectively. Brushing alone cannot remove all the plaque from the tooth surface even when done correctly and thoroughly. It is recommended people brush their teeth for at least 2 minutes. however, according to American dental association survey the average brushing time is only 37 seconds. The combination of brushing and flossing has shown clinically improving the health of the gums and the teeth.
There is a water flosser also known as a dental water jet that has been in use for more than forty years for use as a personal oral care regimen in addition to brushing. The water flosser helps in reducing gingivitis and gingival bleeding. The water flosser uses a combination of pulsation and pressure elements. The combination of pulsation and pressure expels debris and bacteria from in between the teeth and under the gums. Not all water flossers or dental water jets are the same. Some have differences in the pressure and the pulsation specifications. The pulsating water can access areas that may not be accessible to a toothbrush. Cleaning around the crowns and bridges can be tedious and difficult. A water flosser can help to clean in between teeth and the gums. The water flosser is a good alternative to flossing when patients are having orthodontic treatment where it is difficult to clean around the braces and
wires with regular brushing. Research has shown that patients with gingivitis, periodontitis, diabetes can also benefit from using the water flosser. There are different designs of water flossers available on the market and water is usually cost effective but some of them do accept most mouthwashes to be used in it as well.
Regular and effective self-care is important to the long-term health of the teeth and gums in addition to keeping up with the regular checkup and cleaning protocol at the dentist. Brushing, flossing, and using a water flosser has been shown to reduce gingivitis, bleeding, reducing inflammation in the gums and the periodontal tissues especially who are at increased risk for periodontal disease and in kids especially with special needs and having braces.

Interior Painting Tips
Looking for a change at home? Then a fresh coat of paint may be just what you need. Painting a room can be fun, but it can also be intimidating. Here are some tips and ideas to make your next paint job a little easier.
Choosing Your Paint - Your local hardware store should be able to match a color if you have a sample of a favorite color or an item such as a drawer front. If you need to sample a color you already have, you can use a pocketknife to chip off a piece of the paint from a less visible area and patch it later.
If you are choosing a new color entirely, try to think about how that color makes you feel. When in doubt, choose a lighter shade. Bold colors can feel abrasive or overpowering when covering a large area. Paint a patch on the wall and let it sink in for a few days
Test It Out - Before you buy the paint,
see if you can get a sample jar. Sample jars are small containers of paint you can use to try out a color. Colors can look different in a room depending on lighting, texture, and paint type, so don’t skip this step.
Calculate Out How Much You NeedThe paint department usually can help guide you with the amount of paint you’ll need, or you can find a paint estimator online. To figure out how much paint you need, first you’ll need to figure out the square footage of the wall(s) you are going to paint. In my experie3nce I usually use just under a gallon for an average 10 x 10 bedroom and adjust for larger rooms. I do like to keep a supply on hand for touchups.
Be Prepared - Once you have your paint, you will likely need the following:
• Spackle and spatula for prepainting repairs
• Metal paint scraper to get rid of peeling paint before sanding
• Fine grit sandpaper to even out textures
• Soap and water for cleaning
• Painter’s tape to section off non-paintable areas
• Drop cloth to protect floors and furniture
• Sponge brushes with angles for corners
• Edgers
• Paint roller frames
• Roller covers
• Paint tray
• Gloves
Prep Your Space (and Your clothes)
- Put down the drop cloth and section off the non-paintable areas with your painter’s tape. Use gloves if you can, and make sure you are wearing paint-friendly clothes. You are almost certainly going to get messy.
Keep it Light and Enjoy! With the right materials, you are ready to go! Use light, even strokes in the same direction, and let the paint dry between coats. Keep a wet rag close to catch any drips or drops before they dry. If you are just doing touch-ups, don’t forget to feather out the edges with a sponge. If you need to take a quick break, wrap your rollers in plastic bags. This will keep the paint wet so you can easily pick up where you left off. Make sure to wash your tools with soap when you’re all done. The best place to do this is usually outside with the hose so you don’t make a mess.
