Once again we were the proud sponsors of the East County Historical Society’s Photo Contest. All photos were displayed at the Opening Day Celebration of East County’s History on April 6th at the Historical Society.

We had such a great response with photos depicting East Contra Costa County submitted and several photos will appear on the cover of future editions of The Monthly Grapevine.

First place was a photo titled “Spring in Bloom” by Gwen Tantiato, Second place winner was a photo titled “Boat on a Dock” by Stephen Hollingsworth, which graces our East County Cover this month and Third place was a photo titled “Garden Splendor” by Tom Stater.

Who’s Who... in East County

Who’s Who... in East County

In the late 80’s, Jeff Mcthorn, owner of Delta Watercraft worked at a Personal Water Craft (PWC) repair shop and that experience plus his love of water and riding PWC inspired him to open his own business in 1998. GET YOUR GARDEN GROWING DIG was founded in June 1988 by Pat Moore. It started with a membership of about fourteen and has grown to one hundred at present. Members come from all over east county and elsewhere.

Anyone is eligible to join and the dues are $15.00 per year.

Our purpose is to encourage interest in gardening through education and the beautification of the community. The mission of DIG is donating garden books, tapes and videos to the local library, providing scholarships to local students, hosting informational speakers and participating in the community gardening projects.

Our annual fundraiser/plant sale consists of 10,000 plants.
