Victory Palace Int'l was founded in 2014 in Antioch by Pastor Uko and Mrs. Edu Umo. The Ministry was established and rooted on the word of God and Jesus Christ as the foundation of the church. Pastor Uko Umo was born and raised in a Christian family. He started his ministerial journey at a very young age by serving through various ministries. Pastor Umo is a teacher with the ability to share the word with simplicity and understanding, relating the word of God to address your present predicaments. With a strong belief in his teachings, he believes all lives can be transformed and souls can be saved, moving people to the next level of spiritual health. The Ministry started out as an outreach fellowship which brethren gathered every Sunday and prayed and studied the word of God. After nine months of solid fellowship, Pastor Umo launched a church in which to hold services and through the faithfulness of the parishioners, they had outgrown the Antioch location and now have a new home in Pittsburg. Victory services are held beginning at 10am at the new location, 407 E. 10th Street. Continuing on with his vision of being a church under one nation, Pastor Uko desires to transform lives and give hope through the word of God, and would someday like to take his journey globally. So, if you need Spiritual cleansing and would like to be apart of this wonderful journey, do not hesitate to attend their Sunday services. They also offer Bible Study from 6-8 pm every Thursday evening, in addition to Fasting/Prayers beginning at 10 am the first Saturday of every month. Update On Aquatic Weeds Since aquatic weeds began choking the Delta, I have worked with area residents, staff from the California Division of Boating & Waterways (DBW), and the office of the Governor to keep the focus on maintaining local waterways. This summer, we’ve seen improvement as DBW has treated for Egeria densa, curlyleaf pond weed, sponge plant and water hyacinth. With one exception, herbicide applications for all 2015 Egeria densa and curly-leaf pond weed treatment sites were completed during the last week of May. For Discovery Bay, the treatment schedule will continue. According to DBW, extended treatment will occur every other week, with a final herbicide application expected the week of Sept. 21. During those weeks, the herbicide fluridone (Sonar) will be applied from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through

Friday. According to DBW, it is important that area residents refrain from putting any additional herbicides in the water. The treatment schedule is as follows: •

Week of Sept. 7, Sept. 11 & Sept. 21

For water hyacinth and sponge plant, DBW began treatment in March and will continue until Nov. 30. Spraying will be conducted from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Herbicide applications during the treatment period will use glyphosate (Roundup Custom), imazamox (Clearcast) and 2, 4-D (Weedar). According to DBW, 2, 4-D, may be used in the legal Delta until Sept. 15, and in the southern sites until Aug. 15. The agency reminds residents that sites and schedules for treating all aquatic invasive weed species are subject to change based on regulatory requirements, weather conditions, plant growth and movement, waterway traffic, fish presence and other conditions. Safety and Maintenance Tips for Busy Women A lot of women are living at a hectic pace these days. Many work full time. They take their kids to daycare and after-school activities. And a lot of women have the additional responsibility of being the household “car care manager.” While car care typically has been considered “men’s work,” research by the Car Care Council shows that women represent 60 percent of automotive service customers in North America , and women spend more than $300 billion annually on vehicle maintenance, repairs and used vehicles, according to American Woman Road and Travel (AWRT). Here are safety and maintenance tips from Mr. Goodwrench that will help your vehicle run at its best heading into the spring and summer travel seasons. Blowouts: If your tire sustains a blowout while you are driving, do not slam on your

brakes. Doing so can cause the vehicle to swerve in the direction of the blowout. Instead, gently apply the brakes to regain control and slowly guide the vehicle to a safe area away from the road. Air pressure: To help avoid under-inflation, the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) recommends checking your tires’ air pressure at least once a month and before every long trip. Tires must be checked when they are cold - that is, before they have been run no more than one mile. Under-inflation is the leading cause of tire failures/blowouts. Tires lose air through a process called permeation. Changes in outdoor temperature can affect the rate at which a tire loses air. Typically, a tire loses one pound to two pounds of pressure per month, and even more in warm weather. Never “bleed” or reduce air pressure when tires are hot. It is normal for pressures to build up as a result of driving. Tread wear & when to buy a new tire: You can check your tires for proper tread by taking a penny and pinching Lincoln ‘s body between your thumb and forefinger. Put Lincoln ‘s head in a groove on the tread. If any part of Lincoln‘s head is obscured by the tread, the tire has good tread. If you can see above his head, you need to get new tires.

Windshield wipers: Old or worn windshield wipers can lead to poor visibility in adverse weather conditions. Oil: Change your oil and filter at intervals recommended in your owner’s manual to minimize engine wear and reduce the possibility of internal damage. Fluid levels: Improper fluid levels including coolant, oil, power steering, transmission, brake fluid and even washer solvent - can negatively affect vehicle durability, performance and safety. Belts and hoses: A broken belt or ruptured hose can cause costly engine damage and travel delays.
