Our Mission
Montini Catholic High School is a family-centered co-educational college preparatory high school rooted in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ as emulated by our founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle. We are committed to the education of the whole person. Our Lasallian tradition recognizes the sacredness of all persons and educates students of diverse abilities, cultures, and socio-economic backgrounds.
Our History
St. John Baptist de La Salle, a French cleric, founded the Brothers of the Christian Schools in the late 17th century. Named the Patron Saint of All Teachers, St. John Baptist de La Salle dedicated his life to providing a well-rounded, Christian education to students of all faiths.
In 1963, the De La Salle Christian Brothers were invited to sponsor and manage a new Catholic high school in the Lombard area, and in 1966, Montini Catholic opened its doors to 217 freshmen.
Today, Montini Catholic has graduated close to 8,000 Lasallians, who are a diverse group of individuals and are lifetime members of one unique community. Our school consists of students from over 105 private and public grade schools in over 57 cities in the Chicagoland area. All faiths are welcomed members of our Montini Catholic family.
Montini students are part of a Lasallian community spanning 80 countries and currently educating over one million students worldwide. Locally, Montini Catholic is a member of the Midwest District of The De La Salle Christian Brothers, which includes three universities and fourteen high schools.
A Lasallian education centers on five interlocking values which are:
• Quality education
• Inclusive community
• Faith in the presence of God
• Concern for the poor
• Respect for all people
A Lasallian education at Montini Catholic means that your calling matters to us. We firmly believe that your high school experience should be unique to your needs. Our Montini Catholic family touches hearts, stimulates minds, and cultivates leadership to prepare students for college, life, work and service.
After four years at Montini Catholic, graduates are well-rounded men and women, life-long learners and responsible citizens, who are ready to face their college years and beyond.
Montini’s family is made up of close to
8,000 Lasallian graduates!
You are an individual at Montini Catholic! Broncos are respected, accepted, understood and loved - they know they are vital members of our Bronco family.
Montini Catholic’s pursuit of academic excellence is reflected in a comprehensive, rigorous college preparatory curriculum.
#be inspired
Our graduation requirements exceed those recommended by the Illinois State Board of Higher Education.
Each year, Broncos excel in ACT and Advanced Placement examinations – far exceeding national and state averages in both testing programs.
Our pursuit of academic excellence is also rooted in our commitment to small class size, individualized scheduling, digital learning and most importantly, engaging classroom instruction. A dedicated and talented faculty immerse students in their daily classroom instruction by utilizing iPad technology as well as traditional instruction methods. With an offering of 47 Advanced Placement and Honors Level courses and 4 Dual College Credit courses, Bronco students are set up for success.
Graduation Requirements
Our graduation requirements meet and exceed those recommended by the Illinois Board of Education for a college preparatory high school.
As Lasallian educators, our faculty members are dedicated to knowing their students, knowing how they learn, providing individual attention and helping them reach their full academic potential.
Montini has prepared me really well for college. I know the leadership qualities, work ethic, and social skills I’ve developed throughout my time here will be crucial for college, and even the rest of my life.
- Heather Sledzinski, Class of 2021 (Purdue University)

Ensuring a lifetime of success
A unique feature at Montini Catholic is that we do not place students into academic tracks. Our curriculum allows students to take courses within 4 academic levels: Advanced Placement, Honors, College Prep and Signum Fidei.
Levels are determined by Placement and Proficiency Exam results, grade school records and/or grade school teacher recommendations. (Following our Lasallian mission of inclusive education, Signum Fidei is a selective academic program designed to work with 20 students each year who test below grade level.) All classes are engaging and designed to help students learn at their unique level while preparing them for the demands of college.

#be a champion
Our excellence in the classroom is matched by our long tradition of athletic success!
Bronco athletes excel on the field while never losing focus of their academic goals in the classroom.
Being a champion means more than state and conference titles. It also involves hard work, discipline and dedication to excellence in the classroom and on the playing field or court. 284 Bronco teams have earned the IHSA Team Academic Achievement Award (established in 2003) which is presented to teams maintaining a 3.0 or better grade point average during their athletic season.
Our excellence in the classroom is matched by the long tradition of athletic team and individual success in state and conference competitions. Since 2000, Montini Catholic teams have won 30 IHSA state championships and numerous sectional, regional and conference titles. In the past 6 years alone, over 40 Bronco athletes have earned scholarships to Division 1 (D1) colleges and universities across the entire country.
Additionally, to ensure that our student athletes are provided a setting in which to succeed, we have invested over $3 million in upgrading our indoor and outdoor athletic facilities in the past 5 years.

Students are motivated to step out of their comfort zones and to get engaged.
Involvement in our student life program is a very important aspect of the well-rounded Montini Catholic college preparatory experience. Participation in clubs, organizations, activities and events enriches the educational experience and is considered an extension of the classroom. Students gain experience and knowledge beyond iPads and textbooks, develop leadership and social skills and make long lasting friendships by participating in Montini’s student life program that features over 30 clubs/leadership opportunities and honor societies and close to 30 activities and social events.
Students are encouraged to further develop their talent and skills in activities that they have a passion for and to “step out” of their comfort zones to experience new things in a friendly, respectful and supportive school community.
It is important to get involved, take rigorous classes, and build rapport with your teachers. Being well rounded will provide you with the most opportunities and means people will be willing to help you at every turn.

Students can take advantage of opportunities to explore and develop their talents in a wide range of course offerings.
Fine Arts is a graduation requirement for all Broncos. Eighteen courses are offered in art, music and drama. These include three choirs and three bands which perform in five concerts each year. Extra-curricular experiences include three music ensembles and two theatrical productions. Music and Theater each have honor societies - opening up a world of opportunities for students who are both gifted and academically talented.
- Maryfaith Considine, Class of 2027 “
The best thing about being in the musical wasn't just the applause or the standing ovations - it was the deep connections forged with the directors, cast, and crew. We became a tight-knit family, sharing laughs, tears, and inside jokes both on and off stage.
”
Our Lasallian mission fosters a community of service and provides many avenues for spiritual growth.
#be a servant
Service is one aspect of the Montini Catholic experience that sets us apart from other schools. Our Lasallian mission of education is rooted in the belief that we are servants of God.
Through a four year theology curriculum, a four year retreat program (which includes Kairos Retreats), peer ministry activities, domestic and international mission trips and an extensive community service program; we provide each student with a number of opportunities to grow spiritually and socially and to become difference makers.
Montini Catholic students grow as Christian leaders. They develop respect for themselves and for others, they become more aware of social issues and social injustices, they see the importance of helping others, and they realize that they truly have the ability to “Touch the Hearts” of others.

“Montini played a pivotal role in shaping me into the person I am today. It equipped me with the skills, knowledge, and values necessary to navigate adulthood, pursue my career goals and contribute meaningfully to my community. There are so many people at Montini who helped me towards my career path. I learned narrative development and character-building - which are indispensable for character acting, the core of animation. Teachers always encouraged my drawing, even if it was just silly doodles on the whiteboard between lessons and the counseling department helped arrange my schedule to get enough art-credits for my college applications.

Montini faculty were paramount to my maturity and growth as I prepared myself for college. Interning at Fermilab during high school was totally a turning point in my life. More so, the four years I spent learning and developing my skill set in math gave me the confidence to believe in myself when it came to astrophysics. The entire Science Department nurtured my love for science and made for some of my favorite memories at Montini.
