ONCE UPON A HOMECOMING IS HERE It's Homecoming week! Students have enjoyed the Powder Puff Football games, a pep rally and dress down days. Tonight the Volleyball Team will take on Fenwick (5:00 and 6:00) at their Volley for a Cure Game and tomorrow the Football Team will take on St. Rita (5:00 and 7:30). New this year, a King and Queen will be crowned at half-time of the Varsity Game.

Alumni are invited to check-in at the Alumni End Zone Tent for the football game and receive a concession stand coupon for complimentary food. Don't forget to check out the sandwich of the week, "Da Segredo", a 6" gourmet Italian sub, sponsored by Mike's Meat Market and Casey's Market, owned by David Casey '79. Come watch the Broncos and visit with fellow alums! All children of alumni will receive complimentary admission to the game and are invited to check in at the Admissions table inside the stadium to receive a concession stand coupon for a complimentary hot dog, chips, and soda/water. Alumni grade school children will be entered into a drawing for a $35 spirit store gift card. #wearemontini #futurebroncos

VICTOR CIARDELLI '85 INSPIRED TO GIVE Victor Ciardelli '85, founder and President of Guaranteed Rate, started the Guaranteed Rate Foundation in 2012. Since its inception, the foundation has granted $2.4 million to 1,027 individuals, not to nonprofits, as do other corporate foundations. The grants "give people a chance to just breathe," said Victor Ciardelli in a recent Crain's Chicago Business interview. The foundation is funded by employee contributions, fundraisers and corporate sponsors. "I don't want to give money if it's going to salaries," he said, noting that Guaranteed Rate covers all foundation expenses. New this year, the foundation wants to help women who have experienced domestic violence. Ciardelli wants the foundation to eventually grant $5 million or $10 million a year. CHARITY GAME A SUCCESS

Last week the Football Moms and Montini Maniacs hosted the Annual Charity Game benefiting the JAW Foundation. The "Johnny Always Wins" game honors Johnny Weiger who passed away during his sophomore year at Montini. Students and fans were able to purchase T-shirts, candy bars and raffle tickets to help raise funds for the JAW Foundation. Congratulations to Frank Conforti III '19 (son of Frank Conforti '86) on winning the "Spirit of Johnny Award" which is awarded to a Varsity Football Player who best exemplifies the spirit of Johnny Weiger. The Weiger Family presented the award prior to the Varsity game. Past recipients of this award are AJ Melarkey '14, Sam Asta '15, Sam Detmers '16, Brendan Rauen '16 and Rian O'Connor '18 (son of Tim O'Connor '87). Click here to read more about the Charity Game.
