One area we are extremely proud of is our Fine Arts Department. As we stated throughout our 50th Anniversary celebration last year, the arts have been a constant in our school community and played a key role in our history. As school districts look at cutting or reducing their own fine arts courses and programs, Montini Catholic is experiencing a great deal of growth in ours. Fine Arts Department Chair, Wanda Drabik, and Art Instructor, Ester Lee, provide our students with a four year program in art. Currently it consists of ten courses ranging from Introduction to Art to Design IV. Digital Design and Pottery are also offered. Music Director, Belford Hernandez, and Assistant Director, Matt Loeb, have done a wonderful job in growing our Band and Choral Programs, offering four courses in both Choir and Band – concert and symphonic. In addition, we offer our students the opportunity to further their music talents in extracurricular programs such as Liturgical Choir, Acafellas, Treble Makers and our performance ensemble – the Chamber Choir. Montini also sponsors four outstanding concerts each year (Fall, Christmas, Winter and Spring) to showcase the talents of our music students. Montini eater also continues to thrive. Over the past 16 years, under the direction of Dr. Diann Matheson, two acting courses have been introduced to our curriculum, and a Drama Club has been added to our extracurricular roster. Our annual Fall Play and Spring Musical are played out in front of sold out auditorium audiences, and our eatre Camp attracts many grade school and high school thespians over the summer. Many of our alumni have gone on to successful careers in the arts. (Alumni thespians, Kevin Martin and Mike Pesoli (page 9), were directed by Dr. Di.) As you can see, we are very proud of our Fine Arts Programs at Montini Catholic and that is why the construction of a new Music Wing is a prominent part of our 50th Anniversary Capital Campaign. Please visit our website at www.montini.org to learn more. Our first semester has also seen great success in our athletic program as well. I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the retirement of Coach A – Chris Andriano as head coach of the Varsity Football Team (page 10). On behalf of our school, I cannot thank Coach A enough for his great dedication, commitment, leadership and work ethic he has provided throughout his career here. We have been very fortunate to have Chris as our Head Football Coach for the last 38 years. We are also very proud to announce that Mike Bukovsky ‘83 will succeed Coach A as the school’s third Head Varsity Football Coach. We have great confidence in Mike and know that he will continue the rich and proud tradition of Bronco Football. As always, my sincere appreciation to you all for your continual support of Montini Catholic. I wish all of you a healthy and prosperous 2017 and “May Jesus Live In Your Hearts…Forever.” Sincerely,

Sophomore Day of Service Every year sophomores offer their hands and hearts to various sites in the Western Suburbs during Sophomore Day of Service. is year's beneficiaries included: Easter Seals, Feed My Starving Children, West Suburban Food Pantry, MarkLund, and Humanitarian Service Project. roughout the day, the students were busy packing food for children in poor countries, helping pack and load food donations for local families, sanitizing toys, cleaning facilities, visiting with disabled peers and, most importantly, sharing the morning with each other while volunteering for others.
gOLDEN GOBBLER is year marked the 20th year of Montini’s Golden Gobber Food Drive which benefits local food pantries. Students are responsible for donating close to 330,000 items, since the program's inception, to food pantries throughout DuPage County. e Gobbler challenges students, homerooms and classes to bring in non-perishable food items for local food pantries.
ADOPT-A-FAMILY A portion of the food collected during Golden Gobbler is allocated for families that are adopted by students during the Christmas season. During our Adopt-a-Family program, students collect food and presents for families facing hardship, especially during the holiday season. Homerooms adopt a particular family and donate money to be used for gifts. Once their money is collected, students and teachers choose toys, clothing and any other presents specific to their family.

Laughlin says his many service experiences have helped open his eyes to the importance of giving back. "Volunteering has allowed me to open up my heart to the Lord," he said. “Helping other people deepen their faith and volunteering is what I feel like I have been called to do."
“Montini’s service theme this year, the work is yours, is inspired by the essence of paying it forward. We are the hands, feet and voice of Christ." - Michael Blanchette

"As a family-focused school, it is great to see so many alumni continue the legacy by having their own son or daughter attend our school," said President Jim Segredo. "I also believe it reflects the excellent education they experienced as Montini Catholic students. Not only do their sons and/or daughters experience Montini Catholic, but the parents also come back and engage themselves again, in a different way. Having alumni come back to campus and participate in our school community makes our school community stronger and more energetic!”
