Montini Catholic high school Alumni Associaton Hall of Fame 18 It is with great pride that we welcome you to the 2018 Alumni Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Tara Chocol Joyce ‘86

Exceptional talent and accomplishments in her career as an actress in network and cable television and in film. Tara was very active during her years at Montini Catholic. She spent her time on both the Cheerleading and Broncette teams, was a member of Campus Ministry, and showcased her talents in two Montini Spring Musicals (Anything Goes and Bye Bye Birdie).

She attended Illinois State University where she was on the Dean’s List and was the recipient of the Steppenwolf eatre Fellowship. Tara is currently an actress, recently completing the filming of Florida Bush League Wrestling: e Movie (2017). She is also known for her work on Dirt, America’s Prince: e John F. Kennedy Jr. Story and Chicago Cab. Over the span of her career, Tara has appeared in many television series including Fumbling rough the Pieces, Southland; Resurrection Mary, NYPD Blue; Stop ief! and Dragnet, to name a few. Other works include Steppenwolf eatre productions of e Curse of the Starving Class and Romeo and Juliet. Tara has been married to John Joyce for 13 years and is the proud mother of son, John Henry.


Nancy Kuster Economou‘84 Exceptional commitment to service through philanthropic programs and community leadership as the founder and President of Watts for Love. She and the Watts for Love Team have won numerous awards for their philanthropic eorts in countries throughout the world. Nancy spent her time at Montini Catholic as a member of Campus Ministry where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the Track & Feild Team. Nancy received her Associates Degree at St. Ambrose University. Prior to forming Watts of Love, Nancy sold high-end jewelry at Cartier Jewelers in Chicago. Nancy is the founder and president of Watts of Love, which was founded in 2012 following a business trip to the Philippines. While there, she realized the drastic need for safe and renewable lighting. As a mother of five boys, Nancy was compelled to equip vulnerable families to help raise them out of a continuous cycle of poverty. Nancy has made it her mission to deliver light and love to the poorest of the poor worldwide. Nancy is a member of the Chicago Filipino Asian American Hall of Fame (2014). She is also an American Red Cross Hero Award Nominee. She has been featured on Windy City Live, WGN Channel 9, Business Insider, WLS Radio and Relevant (Catholic) Radio. She is an active member of her church as well as an advocate for raising families out of poverty around the world. Nancy finds her support in husband, John Economou, and together they are raising five active boys.


Garrett Goebel ‘08

Exceptional athletic ability as a student athlete in the Montini Catholic Football and Wrestling programs and as a scholarship football player at Ohio State University who captained the 2012 undefeated Ohio State Football Team. Signed as a free agent with the St. Louis Rams in 2013.

Garrett was a two-sport star at Montini Catholic, earning All State, All Suburban Catholic and All Chicagoland honors in football and named one of three finalists for Illinois Mr. Football where he had 63 tackles and 16 TFLs as a senior. He was also the 2007 Illinois State Wrestling Champion. Garrett was highly ranked as one of the top high school football players and wrestler in the nation and featured in several high school national magazines. He was recruited by all major Division 1 colleges in football and wrestling, but decided to accept a full athletic scholarship to play football at Ohio State University where he also majored in Management and Industry. Garrett was a team co-captain as a senior at Ohio State and was a valued five-year member of the program who started 25 times along the defensive line and played in 51 games over his career as a Buckeye. He recorded 86 total tackles and 11 tackles for losses totaling 25 yards during his career and was an Academic All-Big Ten Conference selection in 2009 and 2010. Garrett agreed to an undrafted free agent contract with the St. Louis Rams. He was rated as the #42 best defensive tackle prospect in the 2013 draft class. Approached by the Green Bay Packers to join their mini-camp squad in the 2014 season, Garrett decided to end his pursuit of a career in the NFL and concentrate on beginning his career in construction management.


Anthony Joseph Guido, Jr. ‘03 An outstanding student at Montini Catholic who received an appointment to the United States Coast Guard Academy, Anthony has displayed exceptional leadership and loyalty and to his country as a decorated member of the United States Coast Guard. Anthony was a very active Bronco. He was a member of the Football, Baseball, Wrestling and Cross Country teams. He was also a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council and Debate Club, working on the school newspaper and donating his time to numerous community service projects. Anthony attended the United States Coast Guard Academy where he was a member of the Dean’s List and achieved a Bachelor of Science and Civil Engineering Degree with Honors. He was elected to lead a team of 126 peers as the Delta Company Commander, and was also the captain of the Division III Varsity Baseball team (2004-07). He was selected to attend Naval Flight Training (in Pensacola, FL) where he received the Commodore’s Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement for maintaining a 4.0 average. He received his naval aviator wings in February, 2009. LCDR Anthony Guido is currently a student at the University of Pennsylvania pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public Policy/Administration at the Fels School of Government. Most recently (2013-17) he was stationed as a duty standing Air Intercept and Search and Rescue helicopter flight examiner and pilot at Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City. As the Deputy Operations Officer, Anthony was the liaison to the United States Secret Service and United States Air Force for all deployable rotary wing air intercept missions nationwide. He and his team of 18 planned and executed dRWAI missions for National Special Security events ensuring air sovereignty around the President of the United States. He is happily married to Jessica Guido.


Jaleel Johnson ‘12

Exceptional athletic ability as a student athlete in the Montini Catholic Football program, and as a scholarship football player at the University of Iowa, and a professional athlete with the Minnesota Vikings selected in the 4th round of the NFL draft in 2017.

Jaleel transferred to Montini Catholic in the spring of 2011 and played football during his senior year. He was named team captain and earned first team Allstate, All-conference and All-Area honors as well as prep All-America recognition after helping the Broncos post a 12-2 record and winning the state championship (70-45) over Joliet Catholic - Montini’s historic ‘3-Peat 5A Championship Title’ in 2011. Regarded as a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, Johnson received scholarship offers from half of the Big Ten. Iowa coach, Kirk Ferentz, convinced him to play for the Hawkeyes. Jaleel is the second Montini Catholic Bronco to be drafted in the NFL and the first to play for the National Football League during the regular season. He is currently a defensive tackle for the Minnesota Vikings. He was drafted by the Vikings in the fourth round, 109th overall of the 2017 NFL Draft.


Michala Johnson ‘10

Michala is being recognized for her exceptional athletic ability as a student athlete in the Montini Catholic Basketball program and as a scholarship athlete at the Universities of Connecticut and Wisconsin. She was selected by the New York Liberty in the 2014 WNBA draft, Michala played professionally with the St. Louis Surge in the WNBA and in Europe.

During her Bronco years, Michala was a member of the Girls Varsity Basketball team and achieved Honor Roll status for all four years as a Bronco. She was selected for All StateTeam as a sophomore and was rated as the #46 recruit and the #7 power forward by ESPN Hoopgurlz. She was ranked #27 nationally by the All-Star Girls Report and #18 by Blue Star, and enjoyed going downstate for three years while at Montini, playing a vital role in our Broncos 3rd place finish in 2008 and their 3A Championship in 2010. While at Wisconsin, Michaela achieved 2014 First-Team All-Big Ten and Academic All-Big Ten status. She made the Dean’s List for all four years and Academic All-Big Ten for all four years. As leading scorer for the Badgers (scored double figures in 21 games), Michala was drafted by the New York Liberty in the 2014 WNBA draft. Michala played basketball overseas in Italy (Rome, Como and Florence) during her college years. After college she played in Belgium, traveling to Parish and Amsterdam during this experience. Finally she played for the St. Louis Surge where she won a National Title during her first year. Michala has earned a Bachelors Degree in Human Development and Family Studies and a Masters in Education Leadership Policy Analysis. She is also working on a second Masters in Arts of Teaching at Washington University in her pursuit of a career as an elementary teacher.


Michael John Tellone ‘71

Exceptional dedication and leadership to the community throughout his 25+ years of service to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office and for his contributions and volunteer service to the Montini Catholic school community. As a Bronco, Michael was a member of the Choral, Drama Club, and Folk Group. He also took great pride in performing his original songs at school concerts as well as hosting his own show in the auditorium.

From Montini, Michael attended the College of DuPage as well as the University of Illinois Police Training Institute and Northwestern University’s Traffic Institute, and began his career at the State of Illinois Department of Transportation. From there, he spent over 25 years of service at the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office (1976 - 2003), including working undercover for nine years as a Detective in the Narcotics Division (DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group; DuPage/Kane Narcotic Enforcement Team) - 19791988 roughout his service, Michael has received numerous awards and commendations including those from the Addison Police Department, the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Illinois Department of Law Enforcement, the International Narcotics Enforcement Officer’s Association and the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration, among many others. Michael is currently retired. He has been happily married for 44 years to Debra Tellone and they have two children, Mike, Jr. and Angelina, and two wonderful grandchildren.


Jordan Westerkamp ‘12

One of the most decorated student athletes in the history of Montini Catholic’s Football program. Jordan exhibited exceptional athletic ability as a football player at Montini Catholic and as a scholarship football player at the University of Nebraska. He signed as a free agent with the Miami Dolphins in 2017 and with the Toronto Argonauts in 2018.

Jordan was a record-setting receiver as a Bronco. He is the IHSA leader in receiving yards (4,618), receiving touchdowns (68) and touchdowns in one season (28). Jordan won state titles each of his final 3 seasons capped by a memorable performance in the 2011 5A State title game vs. Joliet Catholic, when he had 12 catches and five touchdowns. Jordan had nine touchdown catches in his 3 state title games. He was a High School All-American, Illinois Player of the Year and played in the Semper Fi Marines All-America Bowl in Arizona. Recruited by most Division I football programs, Jordan attended the University of Nebraska where he earned a Bachelor of Science - Business Management. He redshirted in his first season in Nebraska’s football program and earned a spot on Nebraska’s Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll 5 times. Jordan had one of the most productive careers for a Nebraska receiver, leaving his mark throughout the Husker’s record book. He was a captain his junior and senior years and earned All-Big Ten honors his final 2 seasons. Jordan capped his Nebraska career off with 167 receptions for 2,474 yards and 18 receiving touchdowns. His receptions total is 2nd in Nebraska history while his receiving yardage and touchdown totals ranked 4th on the career charts. Jordan was named to the Brook Berringer Citizenship Team (2015, 16) and the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team (2015, 16, 17). He has volunteered for numerous outreach events. Jordan is a professional football player who is currently a free agent.


Jay Williams ‘76

Exceptional accomplishments as a Montini Catholic student athlete, and leadership as an attorney with Schiff Hardin LLC, and for his selfless contributions to Montini Catholic through his active participation in the Montini Catholic school community.

Jay spent his days at Montini Catholic as a member of the Football and Baseball teams. While a Bronco football player, he was named All Conference and was captain and MVP (1975-76). He was also an Honor Roll student, an Illinois State Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society. Jay received his B.A. from Northwestern University, being a member of their Dean’s List and graduating Magna Cum Laude, and went on to earn his M.A./Ph.D. (Philosophy) at Stony Brook University, where he earned the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. He received his J.D. at the University of Illinois Law School in 1987 (where he earned the Order of the Coif - top 10% of his class recognition). Jay has been employed at Schiff Hardin LLC throughout his 31 year career and has attained the position as equity partner. He currently practices in areas of complex commercial litigation and class action defense. He has published various articles and has received recognition, by the Illinois Bar Association, as a leading lawyer in Illinois for several years. Jay and his wife, Mary, have six children (Colin, omas, Jack ‘13, Erin ‘15, Ryan ’16 and Shannon ‘20), four of whom have graduated from Montini. He is proud to have been a member of Montini’s Chain Crew for seven years and to have played football under the leadership of Coach Andriano!
