De La Salle Christian Brothers The French Christian Brothers Order was established in France in 1682 by John Baptist de La Salle, a French cleric, who dedicated his life to providing a well rounded, Christian education to students of all faiths. John Baptist de La Salle was canonized by Pope Leo XIII in 1900. In 1950, Pope Pius XII named him the patron saint of all teachers. Today, the Brothers of Christian Schools sponsor 790 secondary schools and 70 colleges and universities educating 890,000 students throughout the world. Locally, they sponsor Montini Catholic, St. Patrick and De La Salle in Chicago, St. Joseph in Westchester and Lewis University in Romeoville.
Montini Catholic In 1963, the Diocese of Joliet invited the De La Salle Christian Brothers to sponsor and manage a new Catholic High School in the Lombard area. On June 21st of that same year, Pope Paul VI, whose family name was Giovanni (John) Battista (Baptist) Montini, was elected to the Papacy. In his honor, the De La Salle Christian Brothers named the school Montini Catholic High School. In 1966, Montini Catholic opened its doors to 217 freshmen. Today, Montini Catholic has graduated more than 6,000 students, 99% of whom have gone on to college. Our annual enrollment averages 670 students from over 140 private and public grade schools in over 60 cities in the Chicagoland area. All faiths as well as diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds are welcomed members of the Montini Catholic family.

Levels are determined by Placement and ProďŹ ciency exam results, grade school records and/or grade school teacher recommendations. Rather than being placed into a single track, students are selected for classes that engage and aid in learning at their unique level.
